  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Leads team in receiving yardage

Johnson rushed twice for nine yards and caught all five of his targets for 114 yards in Sunday's 48-42 win over the Lions. Johnson's 123 scrimmage yards were by far a season high for the running back. The veteran led the team in receiving yards despite playing just 30 percent of the Bills' offensive snaps in the contest. Although he had an impressive performance against the Lions, Johnson's inconsistent usage and production make him difficult to trust for fantasy. Barring an injury to starter James Cook, Johnson should not be relied upon in the fantasy playoffs. The Bills will host the Patriots in Week 16.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Week 16 Waiver Priority List

Johnson has been productive in his past two games against the Rams and Lions, with at least 13.5 PPR points in each outing. He's become a nice weapon for Josh Allen out of the backfield with seven catches for 169 yards and a touchdown on eight targets over that span, and Johnson might be worth using as a flex option in deep PPR leagues against New England in Week 16. Also, if you think the Bills will blow out the Patriots at home, you can look at Ray Davis (65 percent rostered) as a potential flex option as well in deeper leagues. Davis has scored at least 10.9 PPR points in two of his past three games.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Finds end zone in Week 14

Johnson caught two of three targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 44-42 loss to the Rams. Johnson failed to record a single carry in the contest despite playing the second most offensive snaps (21) at running back behind starter James Cook (27) and ahead of Ray Davis (13). Johnson's touchdown was his third receiving touchdown on the season, bringing him to four total scores through 13 games. Most of the 27-year-old's yardage total Sunday came from his touchdown, which was a 41-yard pass from Josh Allen in the second quarter. Despite finding the end zone, Johnson holds little fantasy utility barring injuries to either Cook or Davis.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Six touches in win

Johnson rushed five times for 28 yards and secured his lone target for nine yards in Sunday's 35-10 win over the 49ers. Johnson saw five opportunities on the ground for the second-straight game, but the veteran was unable to make much happen with his limited attempts. The 27-year-old played just 16 of the Bills' 58 offensive snaps, behind starter James Cook (26) and rookie Ray Davis (19). Barring injuries, Johnson should continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes as the Bills square off against the Rams in Week 14.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Limited production in win

Johnson rushed five times for 18 yards and failed to secure his lone target in Sunday's 30-21 win over the Chiefs. Johnson played 33 of the Bills' 73 offensive snaps Sunday, ahead of both James Cook (27) and Ray Davis (15). Despite handling his largest snap share of the season, the veteran running back was unable to get much going. Going forward, Johnson will continue to operate in his depth role, barring injuries to Cook and Davis, keeping him far off the fantasy radar as the Bills head into a Week 12 bye.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Targeted three times in Week 10

Johnson caught all three of his targets for 32 yards in Sunday's 30-20 win over the Colts. Johnson failed to record a single carry in the contest, however. The Bills' No. 3 running back has now totaled just 17 rushing attempts for 99 yards and a score on the ground through 10 weeks, while playing behind teammates James Cook and Ray Davis. Johnson has also recorded eight catches for 97 yards and two touchdowns. With Cook and Davis both healthy, the 27-year-old Johnson doesn't hold much fantasy value heading into a Week 11 clash with Kansas City.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Fills backup role Monday

Johnson rushed four times for 34 yards and was not targeted as a passer in Monday's 23-20 win over the Jets. Johnson was one of two candidates to replace starter James Cook's (toe) touches Monday, but it turned out to be fellow backup Ray Davis (152 combined yards on 23 touches) who benefited from a fantasy standpoint. The 26-year-old Johnson was worth a waiver add Week 6, but given the touch distribution -- plus the potential for Cook to return -- the backup running back is a low-end fantasy option Week 7. The Bills are set to host the Titans on Sunday.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Hits pay dirt in win

Johnson carried three times for 18 yards and caught all three of his targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 47-10 win over the Jaguars. Johnson ended up having his best statistical day of the young season Monday, seeing season highs in snap percentage (27), rushing yards (18), and targets (3). With that said, the veteran's statistics were not overly impressive, and his increased usage was likely the result of the Bills resting key players in the second half amid the blowout. Johnson's touchdown grab was his first trip to the end zone in 2024, but he likely won't earn many more scoring opportunities while lead back James Cook is healthy.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Two touches to Davis' 10

Johnson rushed once for minus-1 yard and added one catch for 33 yards on two targets in Thursday's 31-10 win over the Dolphins. Johnson watched James Cook score three first-half touchdowns, while rookie Ray Davis got most of the mop-up duty with the game out of reach, finishing with nine carries to Johnson's one. While it's a positive that Johnson is no longer bothered by the knee injury he picked up in the season opener, he seems to have fallen to third on Buffalo's running-back depth chart heading into a Week 3 visit from the Jaguars.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Exits Sunday's game

Johnson exited Sunday's game against the Cardinals with a knee injury, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports. Prior to his exit from the contest, Johnson carried twice for seven yards. In his absence, James Cook and Ray Davis are available to handle Buffalo's RB duties.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Small role in Saturday's win

Johnson carried the ball once for six yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Steelers. He was not targeted in the passing game. Johnson was and perhaps still is in the running to be James Cook's primary backup, but he hurt his hamstring in late July and missed the first preseason game, then played just seven snaps Saturday. Rookie Ray Davis looks like the favorite for the job now, though the Bills could mix and match when Cook needs a breather due to the differing skill sets of Johnson and Davis. It's worth noting that undrafted rookie Frank Gore ran well Saturday, logging eight carries for 41 yards, while veteran Darrynton Evans ran seven times for 37 yards.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Healthy again

Johnson (hamstring) returned to practice Monday, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports. Johnson suffered a hamstring injury during practice last month but is now healthy again. The 2019 sixth-round pick will likely serve as a reserve running back and kick returner once the regular season begins. He's in a battle with rookie Ray Davis for the top backup job to starting running back James Cook.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Not in uniform Saturday

Johnson (hamstring) wasn't in uniform ahead of Saturday's preseason game against the Bears, according to Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News. The same applies to WRs Mack Hollins (leg), Chase Claypool (toe) and Justin Shorter (knee). Johnson's next opportunity to see exhibition action will be Aug. 17 against the Steelers. Once he returns to the mix, Johnson will resume competing with Ray Davis for slotting behind top RB James Cook.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Out with hamstring injury

Johnson will miss practice Tuesday with a hamstring injury, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. Johnson departed Monday's practice early and was evaluated by trainers, leaving rookie Ray Davis as the most likely RB to rotate in behind James Cook with the starting offense. Johnson and Davis reportedly had a near-even split of first-team reps Sunday when Cook was absent for personal reasons, with Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic noting a slight advantage in Johnson's favor. Missed time due to a hamstring injury could improve Davis' odds of taking over the No. 2 RB role that Johnson handled late last season.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Works way up depth chart in 2023

Johnson gained 132 rushing yards on 30 carries (4.4 yards per rush) and caught all seven of his targets for 62 yards and a touchdown in 10 regular-season games this season. Earlier in the season, the veteran RB saw most of his action on special teams, but by the time the Bills got to their playoff run, Johnson had climbed over an injured Damien Harris (head/neck), a freshly signed Leonard Fournette and an aging Latavius Murray on the depth chart. Johnson actually saw 20 carries in the playoffs, suggesting the team trusts him in its dynamic offense. The former Lion and Jet is still just 26 years old and the Bills could bring him back in a depth role behind James Cook in 2024, but Johnson will need to be re-signed in the offseason in that case.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Cleared to play vs. Steelers

Johnson (concussion) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's wild-card round game against the Steelers. Johnson was a limited participant in all three of Buffalo's practices heading into the postseason, but Sal Capaccio of WGR 550 reports that the running back has cleared concussion protocol. Johnson, Leonard Fournette and Latavius Murray are all options to spell starting running back James Cook, with Johnson profiling as the youngest and shiftiest of the three depth options.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Tests confirm concussion

Johnson (concussion) has been downgraded to out Sunday against the Dolphins. Johnson was evaluated for a head injury, and the tests revealed a concussion. He won't return to Sunday's game, so Johnson will finish the regular season with 30 carries for 132 yards, as well as seven catches on as many targets for 62 yards and a touchdown. Johnson will have to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol to suit up in the wild-card round of the playoffs.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Evaluated for head injury Week 18

Johnson is being evaluated for a head injury Sunday against the Dolphins. Johnson was injured on a big hit just outside the end zone in the final seconds of the first half. The backup running back had one carry for five yards and caught his only target for nine yards prior to getting hurt. It remains to be seen whether he'll be able to return to the regular-season finale.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Five carries in win

Johnson rushed five times for 22 yards in Sunday's 27-21 win over the Patriots. Johnson played 13 of the Bills' 69 offensive snaps Sunday, operating as the No. 3 running back behind James Cook and Latavius Murray. In nine games this season, Johnson has now recorded just 29 carries for 127 yards with six catches for 53 yards and a touchdown. He's not seeing enough work in Buffalo's offense to be a consideration for fantasy purposes as the Bills wrap up their regular season against the Dolphins in Week 18.

  • Bills' Ty Johnson: Cleared to return Week 17

Johnson (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Patriots. Johnson practiced fully Friday to gain clearance after limited sessions Wednesday and Thursday. He's set to return from a one-game absence and continue splitting the leftovers behind starting running back James Cook with Latavius Murray, though Buffalo's backfield could get even more crowded if the Bills elevate Leonard Fournette from the practice squad again.
