The Seahawks released Burr-Kirven on Thursday, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
Burr-Kirven never really got a chance to jumpstart his career in Seattle, as he tore his ACL before the start of his third season in the NFL and eventually missed the entire 2021 season as well as the 2022 campaign. The 25-year-old linebacker will now work toward another opportunity elsewhere to rejuvenate his playing career.

Seahawks' Ben Burr-Kirven: Undergoing follow-up procedure
Rotowire
Coach Pete Carroll said Thursday that Burr-Kirven is set to have an additional clean-up procedure after suffering a season-ending torn ACL last August, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Carroll also added that Burr-Kirven's surgery will address some lingering scar tissue in his knee and he is questionable for the start of Seattle's training camp. The 2019 fifth-round pick collected 16 tackles and one forced fumble and was a major contributor on special teams over his first two seasons with the Seahawks. Burr-Kirven should have an opportunity to reprise his role on special teams heading into the final year of his rookie contract.

Burr-Kirven made the Seahawks' 53-man roster, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
The Seahawks picked Burr-Kirven in the fifth round of April's draft, and he had an outstanding preseason to make the initial roster. While he outplayed Shaquem Griffin (knee) through preseason, he's still behind Jadeveon Clowney, K.J. Wright and Mychal Kendricks on the depth chart. Expect the Seahawks to give him situational work on defense while letting him maintain a role on special teams.

Seahawks' Ben Burr-Kirven: Lands on PUP list
Rotowire
Burr-Kirven (sports hernia) was placed on Seattle's Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
Because training camp hasn't started yet, Burr-Kirven can come off the PUP list any time between now and the end of preseason. The 21-year-old underwent sports hernia surgery in May, but got in some conditioning work earlier this offseason. Burr-Kirven is expected to be limited to a depth role on defense while contributing mostly on special teams when healthy this season.
