  • Michael Gallup: Retirement made official

The Raiders placed Gallup on the reserve/retired list Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Gallup surprisingly retired as training camp kicked off for Las Vegas, after having signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the team during the offseason. The 28-year-old wideout played all six seasons of his NFL career in a Cowboys uniform, and injuries seemed to derail him after a promising 66-1,107-6 receiving line in Year 2. Former teammate Dak Prescott praised Gallup following his retirement, per Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' official site, saying "he was huge for my career."

  • Raiders' Michael Gallup: Set to retire

Gallup is slated to retire, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. This is a surprising move, as Gallup agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Raiders during the offseason and was projected fourth on the wide receiver depth chart. After a promising start to his career in Dallas, he failed to replicate those numbers in recent years and was looking for a fresh start in Las Vegas. His career now looks to be coming to an end prior to his seventh season.

  • Raiders' Michael Gallup: Lands in Las Vegas

Gallup agreed to terms on a one-year, $3 million contract with the Raiders on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. After a six-year stint in Dallas to start his career, Gallup will get a fresh start in Las Vegas. His second year with the Cowboys generated plenty of optimism, as he tallied 1,107 yards receiving to go along with six touchdowns. However, he has failed to replicate those types of numbers since. With Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers locked in as the Raiders' top pass catchers, Gallup will compete with the likes of Tre Tucker and DJ Turner, among others, for the No. 3 pass-catching role.

  • Michael Gallup: Visiting with Baltimore

Gallup is scheduled to visit the Ravens on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Gallup, who turned 28 years old earlier this month, is coming off a 2023 season in which he recorded a 34-418-2 receiving line on 57 targets in 17 games with the Cowboys. If the 2018 third-round pick ends up signing with Baltimore, he would add needed depth to a wideout corps currently headed by Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Could be cut this offseason

Gallup may be released this offseason, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. The last time we saw Gallup in uniform he caught six passes for 103 yards in a wild-card loss to the Packers. It was his first 100-yard game since Nov. 2021, six weeks before he suffered a career-altering ACL tear. Gallup has three seasons remaining on the five-year, $57.5 million extension he signed a few months after suffering the injury, but none of the remaining money is guaranteed. The Cowboys can free up $9.5 million in 2024 cap space if Gallup is designated as a post-June 1 release, while cutting him without the designation would free up just $800,000 but keep him off the books for 2025. He'll probably need to accept a pay cut if he wants to stay in Dallas

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Tops century mark against Green Bay

Gallup caught all six of his targets for 103 yards in Sunday's 48-32 wild-card loss to the Packers. The 27-year-old wideout never topped 92 receiving yards during the regular season, but Gallup wound up being one of Dak Prescott's top targets in the second half after the Cowboys fell into a big hole early and had to air it out in a comeback attempt. On the campaign, Gallup didn't miss a game for the first time since 2020, but his 418 receiving yards in the regular season were a career low. He has three years and $32.5 million remaining on his current contract, but his declining role suggests he's a candidate to be cut or have his deal restructured in the offseason.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Minimal involvement in Week 16

Gallup played 33 of the Cowboys' 66 snaps on offense in Sunday's 22-20 loss to the Dolphins, recording two catches for four yards on two targets. After playing at least 54 percent of the Cowboys' snaps in each of the team's first six games, Gallup has seen a noticeable role reduction since Dallas' Week 7 bye. In the ensuing nine contests, Gallup's snap shares have hovered between 35 and 51 percent, and he hasn't drawn more than five targets in any of those games. Gallup remains a starting receiver for Dallas, but CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks are clearly ahead of him in the pecking order, and second-year player Jalen Tolbert may be encroaching on Gallup's standing as the third option on the depth chart.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Just one grab in Buffalo

Gallup caught his only target for nine yards in Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Bills. Dak Prescott posted his lowest passing yards total of the season and completed just 21 passes, his lowest total since the Cowboys' Week 7 bye, giving few opportunities for the team's depth receiving options to make any kind of impact. Gallup has caught one pass or less in three of the last four games, seeing only one target in each of those contests, but he could see higher volume Week 16 if the road game against the Dolphins turns into a barn burner.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Snags second TD of 2023

Gallup caught three of five targets for 48 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Eagles. The veteran wideout caught a one-yard slant from Dak Prescott right before halftime to give the Cowboys a 24-6 lead in an eventual 33-13 romp. The TD was Gallup's second of the season, while the three grabs and five targets tied his highs in seven games since the team's bye. CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Jake Ferguson remain Prescott's top options in the passing game, but there's been enough production to go around lately that Gallup is still capable of providing some fantasy value, although not consistently.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Just one grab in Thanksgiving win

Gallup caught his only target for 13 yards in a 45-10 win over the Commanders on Thanksgiving. Dak Prescott spread the ball around in the rout and completed passes to 10 different Cowboys, but Gallup was one of the six who has only one reception. The veteran wideout was also on the field for a season-low 18 snaps on offense as younger options like Jalen Tolbert (20 snaps) and Jalen Brooks (six snaps) see their roles grow. Gallup hasn't caught more than three passes in a game since Week 4 and has topped 31 receiving yards only once in that stretch. While every Dallas receiver has some big-play potential given how hot Prescott is right now, it would likely take an injury or two for Gallup's volume to increase significantly.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Three grabs against Carolina

Gallup caught three of five targets for 31 yards in Sunday's win over the Panthers. The Cowboys spread the ball around more than usual in a 33-10 rout, as nine different Dallas players caught multiple passes from Dak Prescott, and Gallup's production didn't stand out from the pack. The veteran wideout hasn't made a big impact this season but has established a steady floor with multiple receptions in eight straight games, posting a modest 25-331-1 line on 41 targets over that stretch.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Finally finds end zone Sunday

Gallup caught both his targets for 70 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 49-17 rout of the Giants. The veteran wideout was on the other end of a 41-yard TD toss from Dak Prescott in the third quarter, which was the third of four touchdown passes on the day for the QB. The score was Gallup's first of the season, while the yardage total was his second highest of 2023, and he hasn't caught more than three passes in a game since Week 4. Despite Prescott's recent eruption -- he's thrown for over 1,000 yards over the last three contests -- Gallup still hasn't been prominently featured in the game plan, and he seems to be no better than Dallas' No. 4 option in the passing attack behind wide receiversCeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks and tight end Jake Ferguson.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Little usage against Philly

Gallup caught two of three targets for 19 yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles. Despite the fact that Dak Prescott attempted 44 passes and threw for 374 yards, Gallup was barely involved in the offense once again. The veteran wideout hasn't reached 25 receiving yards in four straight games, and there's little reason to expect better numbers Week 10 against the Giants given that the Cowboys barely needed to throw the ball at all the first time these teams met this season in a 40-0 rout for Dallas in Week 1.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Gets back to full participation

Gallup (illness) practiced fully Thursday, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports. Gallup was absent to kick off Week 9 prep due to an illness, but after the day off, he was able to handle every practice rep Thursday. He could be in store for a spike in production Sunday against an Eagles defense that has given up the most catches (134) and total touchdowns (13) to opposing wide receivers in eight games on the campaign.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Back at practice Thursday

Gallup (illness) returned to practice Thursday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Gallup saw his playing time dialed back in last Sunday's win over the Rams, playing a season-low 51 percent of the offensive snaps, as Jalen Tolbert saw increased work behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. Gallup has failed to crack 24 yards in any of his last three games and in five of seven games overall. With that in mind, he's off the fantasy radar outside of deeper leagues.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Idle for practice with illness

Gallup didn't participate in Wednesday's practice due to an illness, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Provided Gallup isn't dealing with anything more than a cold or minor bug, he should have a good chance to play Sunday in Philadelphia. He'll have opportunities to practice again Thursday and Friday and put himself in position to play this weekend.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Two grabs in Sunday's rout

Gallup caught two of three targets for 20 yards in Sunday's win over the Rams. Dak Prescott had his best game of the season, racking up 304 passing yards and four TDs, but Gallup saw little of that production. The veteran wideout saw his lowest target volume since Week 2, and over the last three contests he's managed just a 7-59-0 line on 18 targets. Despite his poor recent performances, Gallup could get into the end zone for the first time in 2023 during Week 9's clash with an Eagles secondary that's given up 12 touchdowns to WRs through eight games, the second-highest total in the league.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Sleeper WRs

Prior to Week 5 at San Francisco when the Cowboys were blasted 42-10, Gallup had started to gain momentum as a potential No. 3 Fantasy receiver in all leagues. He had two games in a row with at least six targets, five catches and 60 yards, and he scored at least 11 PPR points in each outing against the Cardinals in Week 3 and the Patriots in Week 4. I expect him to get back on track in Week 6 at the Chargers, who are No. 3 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers. Seven receivers have scored at least 11.2 PPR points against the Chargers in just four games, and Gallup should have success in this matchup on Monday night.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Held to two receptions Sunday

Gallup had two receptions on five targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 42-10 loss to the 49ers. Gallup was coming off his two most productive games of the season before running into a brick wall in the form of the 49ers' defense, as San Francisco didn't allow a single Dallas receiver to gain over 50 yards. Gallup did finish in a three-way tie with CeeDee Lamb and tight end Jake Ferguson for the team lead in targets, with Brandin Cooks not far behind with four. Gallup and the entire offense will attempt to get right in a favorable matchup against the Chargers next Monday.
