  • Jalen Virgil: Dropped by Arizona

Virgil was cut from the Cardinals' practice squad Wednesday. The 27-year-old wideout was added to the Cardinals' practice squad just one week ago, but it now appears that the team decided to move in another direction. Virgil's last in-game action came with the Bills in 2024, when he appeared in eight games and didn't record an offensive stat across 119 total snaps (83 on special teams, 36 on offense).

  • Jalen Virgil: Heading to Arizona

The Cardinals signed Virgil to the practice squad Wednesday. Virgil's addition to the Cardinals' practice squad gives the team much-needed depth at wide receiver after Zay Jones (Achilles) and Simi Fehoko (wrist) were both placed on injured reserve. Virgil could be elevated to the Cardinals' active roster ahead of Sunday's game against the 49ers, given that Xavier Weaver (ankle) is listed as questionable and Marvin Harrison (appendix) has been ruled out. Virgil served mostly in a special-teams role across seven regular-season games for the Bills in 2024.

  • Jalen Virgil: Visits Denver

Virgil visited with the Broncos on Wednesday, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports. Virgil was placed on injured reserve in mid-August with a hamstring injury after spending training camp with the Bills, and he was waived with an injury settlement a week later. It appears that he's now healthy and could find a new opportunity in the near future.

  • Jalen Virgil: Gets waived with injury settlement

Buffalo waived Virgil (hamstring) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Virgil (hamstring) reverted to Buffalo's injured reserve list Friday, per the NFL's transaction log. Virgil was not claimed by another team after being waived with an injury designation Thursday, so now he's back with the Bills on their injured reserve list. He'll have to stay there for the entire campaign unless he reaches an injury settlement with Buffalo.

  • Jalen Virgil: Waived/injured by Buffalo

The Bills waived Virgil (hamstring) with an injury designation Thursday. Virgil spent an extended amount of time with trainers during Wednesday's training camp practice due to a hamstring injury, per Chris Brown of the Bills Radio Network. The 27-year-old wideout will go on waivers, but if he's not claimed by another team, then he would revert to the Bills' injured reserve, forcing him to miss the entire 2025 season unless an injury settlement is reached. Virgil played 119 snaps (36 on offense, 83 on special teams) across seven regular-season games with Buffalo in 2024 but did not appear on the box score otherwise.

  • Bills' Jalen Virgil: Inks future deal with Buffalo

The Bills signed Virgil to a reserve/future contract Tuesday. Virgil caught on with the Bills' practice squad in late August after failing to make the Broncos' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He was signed to Buffalo's active roster Nov. 8, and after being waived Dec. 14 he was signed back to the practice squad. He ended up playing in seven regular-season games and spent most of his time on special teams, though he did not show up in the box score otherwise. The 26-year-old wide receiver out of Appalachian State will be on the Bills' 90-man roster when the new league year starts March 12, which will allow him to participate in OTAs, minicamp and training camp ahead of the 2025 campaign.

Virgil reverted to the Bills' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Virgil has now been elevated to the Bills' active roster for each of their two playoff games. He could return to the Bills' active roster for Sunday's AFC Championship Game in Kansas City.

  • Bills' Jalen Virgil: Elevated again for divisional round

The Bills elevated Virgil from their practice squad to their active roster Saturday. Virgil was also elevated ahead of last Sunday's wild-card win against Denver, though he ended up being inactive for that contest. • Jalen Virgil: Catches on with Bills' taxi squad

Buffalo signed Virgil to its practice squad Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Virgil missed the entire 2023 season due to a torn meniscus. Virgil did get some reps as a kick returner during the preseason -- he turned three kick returns into 88 yards against the Colts on Aug. 11 -- and he could get called up to the Bills' active roster at some point during the season to fill that role if needed.

According to Tomasson, the 25-year-old is eagerly awaiting spring drills in April, where he'll work to start carving out a regular role for himself in Denver.
