Lessons That Drake Maye Can Take From Super Bowl Loss

Fantasy News

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Nabs INT in Super Bowl

Love recorded three tackles (two solo) and an interception in Sunday's 29-13 win over the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Patriots QB Drake Maye threw an errant deep pass right into Love's handles in the fourth quarter, and the veteran safety returned it for 35 yards. Love missed eight games with a hamstring injury earlier this season, but he was quite dependable when healthy and finished the year with 43 tackles (29 solo), seven pass breakups, 1.0 sacks and two interceptions through 11 games, including the postseason. Love is under contract through the 2027 season and will have a $12.9 million cap hit next year.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Set for Super Bowl LX

Love (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl LX matchup against the Patriots, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Love was a full participant throughout the second week of Super Bowl preparation, clearing the talented safety of any injury designation ahead of Sunday's title clash. Love has been a key component of the Seahawks' secondary when healthy, and he should be integral to any success Seattle has against Drake Maye and the Patriots' versatile passing attack.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Cleared for the Super Bowl

Love (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation ahead of Super Bowl LX, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Love was able to upgrade to a full participant in Friday's practice, just in time to be cleared of any injury designation for the first of two Super Bowl injury reports. The starting safety has progressed enough in his shoulder injury recovery to avoid any injury designation, but he will still have another week to recover before the last game of the season.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Still limited by shoulder issue

Love (shoulder) was estimated as a limited participant in Thursday's walkthrough, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Love is working through a shoulder issue that he likely picked up Sunday against the Rams in the NFC Championship Game. The good news for the veteran safety is that he will have additional time to recover ahead of the Seahawks' Super Bowl LX clash against the Patriots on Sunday, Feb. 8.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Dealing with shoulder issue

Love (shoulder) was estimated as a limited practice participant on the Seahawks' injury report Wednesday, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Love played 61 defensive snaps in the NFC Championship Game, collecting four tackles (three solo), but it looks like he also might have suffered a shoulder injury along the way. His activity will be worth monitoring once Seattle starts holding practices to prepare for the Super Bowl.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Secures interception in win

Love recorded six total tackles (five solo) and an interception in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Panthers. Love was able to finish tied for the team lead in takedowns with safety Ty Okada and linebacker DeMarcus Lawrence. Additionally, he jumped in front of a pass from Bryce Young in the third quarter for his first interception of the year. Love is now up to 34 total tackles (23 solo), including 1.0 sacks, while also adding six passes defensed, one of which was Sunday's interception, over seven contests this season.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Cleared for Sunday

Love (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Colts, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Love played just 31 percent of defensive snaps in last Sunday's win over the Vikings, likely being eased back into the defense after a prolonged stint on injured reserve. The free safety should see an increased amount of defensive reps this week, likely taking more away from Ty Okada as the starter gets back in the mix.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Limited to begin Week 15 prep

Love (hamstring) was limited in Wednesday's practice, Corbin K. Smith of SI.com reports. Love returned from injured reserve in Week 14 and played only 31 percent of defensive snaps, as he could be eased back into action with Seattle easily winning the game. The Seahawks are likely to continue to limit his reps, but there's no indication he's in danger of missing Sunday's game against the Colts.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Activated from IR

The Seahawks activated Love (hamstring) from injured reserve Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Falcons, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Love has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's contest and is set to log his first start as a defensive back for the team since Week 4 on the road against the Cardinals. Love will likely retake his role as starting free safety, leaving Ty Okada to function as a third safety and primary depth piece.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Set to return from IR

Head Coach Mike Macdonald declared that Love (hamstring) is set to return from injured reserve for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. Love managed to practice in some capacity all three days this week in anticipation of Sunday's contest. The safety picked up the hamstring injury after the Seahawks' Week 2 victory over the Steelers and battled the issue for over a month before finally being assigned to injured reserve Nov. 1. It is unclear how the seventh-year veteran will be utilized in his return to the lineup. Love may reclaim his starting free safety role from Ty Okada, may just share snaps due to a snap count, or may start or share snaps at another position, such as slot cornerback.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Designated to return

Love (hamstring) was designated to return from the injured reserve list Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. As expected, Love's 21-day practice window opened Wednesday, and he's got a chance to return for the Week 14 matchup against the Falcons. However, the 27-year-old must still be activated to Seattle's active roster in order to play Sunday. Love was an integral part of the Seahawks' secondary in 2024 and once fully healthy, he'll add depth to a defense that's already allowed the sixth-fewest yards per game (289.4) in the NFL this season.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Lands on injured reserve

Love (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. A setback with Love's lingering hamstring injury has landed him a stint on the injured reserve. According to Boyle, Love was placed on injured reserve to make room on the roster for safety elevation Jerrick Reed II. With Love missing an extended period, Ty Okada will need to continue to play a key role in the Seahawks' secondary for the foreseeable future.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Misses another practice

Love (hamstring) sat out of practice for the second day in a row Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. The safety has missed four of Seattle's last five games, and while he appeared to have a chance to return this Sunday, Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said Wednesday that Love suffered a setback, per Brady Henderson of ESPN.com. Ty Okada has been playing in Love's absence, and he would likely get the opportunity if the starter had to miss extended time.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Suffers setback

Love (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Love was expected to have a chance to return in Week 9, but coach Mike Macdonald told reporters that the safety suffered a setback, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports. That not only casts doubt on Love's status for a Week 9 matchup against the Commanders, but also means that a stint on injured reserve is possible.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Optimism for Week 9 return

Head coach Mike Macdonald relayed Monday that Love (hamstring) should be available for Week 9 against the Commanders on Nov. 2, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. A hamstring injury has prevented Love from playing in four of the Seahawks' last five games. He was a limited participant in practice leading up to Week 7 against the Texans, so the additional rest from the bye should put the 2019 fourth-rounder in line to return for Week 9. Love's return will likely result in Ty Okada seeing a decrease in defensive snaps.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: No imminent decision for Week 6

Head coach Mike Macdonald said Monday that a decision on whether Love (hamstring) will play against the Jaguars on Sunday will not likely be made until the end of the week, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Love has missed two of the Seahawks' last three games due to a hamstring injury. He was unable to practice all of last week, so he'd have to participate in at least a limited capacity during Week 6 prep to have a shot at playing in Jacksonville. Ty Okada and Nick Emmanwori will continue to see increased work in the secondary alongside Coby Bryant for as long as Love is sidelined.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Won't play against Bucs

Love (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bucs, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. With Love set to miss Week 5, Nick Emmanwori figures to step in as the starting safety next to Coby Bryant against Tampa Bay. Love has 18 tackles (15 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and two pass breakups across three appearances this season.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Logs another DNP

Love (hamstring) did not participate in Thursday's practice, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Love has opened the week with back-to-back DNPs due to a hamstring injury that he played through during the Seahawks' Week 4 win over the Cardinals. Friday's practice report will provide clarity on Love's chances of playing in Sunday's home tilt against the Buccaneers. Nick Emmanwori and Ty Okada would be the top candidates to start at safety alongside Coby Bryant if Love is unable to play versus Tampa Bay.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Cleared to play vs. Arizona

Love (hamstring) does not carry an injury designation into Thursday's game against the Cardinals, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Love has been cleared to return from a one-game absence due to a hamstring injury that he picked up during the Seahawks' Week 2 win over the Steelers. He was on the field for every single defensive snap in the two games he played in and has logged 12 tackles (nine solo), including 1.0 sacks, and one pass defense over that span. Love will assume his starting role at safety alongside Coby Bryant, and Ty Okada will likely serve in a rotational role due to Nick Emmanwori (ankle) being listed as doubtful for Thursday's NFC West clash.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Estimated as limited

Love (hamstring) was listed as a limited participant on Monday's estimated practice report, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Love was unable to play in the Seahawks' 44-13 win over the Saints due to a hamstring injury. His practice participation over the next two days will indicate his chances of suiting up against the Cardinals on Thursday. Ty Okada would be in line to start at safety for a second straight game if Love is not cleared to play.
