  • Jets' Azareye'h Thomas: Shifts to IR

The Jets placed Thomas (shoulder) on injured reserve Saturday. Thomas has been dealing with a shoulder issue since last week's loss to the Dolphins, and he was already ruled out for this Sunday's contest versus Jacksonville. He'll now shift to IR for the remainder of the regular season, which will effectively end his 2025 campaign since the Jets have already been eliminated from playoff contention. Thomas tallied 22 tackles and seven passes defended across 12 appearances during his 2025 rookie season. In his absence, Qwan'tez Stiggers and/or Tre Brown should be in line for bigger roles opposite starting cornerback Brandon Stephens.

  • Jets' Azareye'h Thomas: Won't play Sunday

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said Friday that Thomas (shoulder) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Thomas suffered a shoulder injury Week 14 against the Dolphins but managed to retake the field and finish out that contest, so it's somewhat surprising to see him unable to play versus Jacksonville. Qwan'tez Stiggers and Ja'Sir Taylor will be candidates to inherit substantial roles on defense for as long as Thomas remains sidelined.

  • Jets' Azareye'h Thomas: Will be cleared from protocol

Head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters Wednesday that Thomas will be cleared from concussion protocol, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports. It's unclear whether Thomas has already cleared protocol following Glenn's comments Wednesday, but it appears as if he'll return for the Jets' Week 12 matchup against the Ravens on Sunday. The rookie corner from Florida State has recorded 12 total tackles and four passes defensed across just nine appearances this season. He's likely to have a larger role on the Jets' defense with Sauce Gardner being dealt to the Colts in early November.

  • Jets' Azareye'h Thomas: Won't play vs. Patriots

Thomas (concussion) has been ruled out for the Jets matchup versus the Patriots on Thursday. Thomas remains in the league's concussion protocol after sustaining a concussion in the Week 10 win over the Browns. In the 21-year-old's absence, Qwan'tez Stiggers could see increased playing time against New England.

  • Jets' Azareye'h Thomas: Healthy ahead of Week 1

Thomas (shoulder) did not appear on the Jets' injury report Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Thomas was nursing a shoulder injury throughout August, but he now appears to be back to full health ahead of Week 1. The 21-year-old is expected to operate as a depth option at cornerback behind Sauce Gardner (leg) and Brandon Stephens in 2025.

  • Jets' Azareye'h Thomas: Exits practice

Thomas (shoulder) left practice early Tuesday, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports. The 21-year-old rookie third-round pick was expected to compete for a starting job in the secondary, but any significant absence could end up derailing that opportunity. The severity of his injury is unknown, and the Jets hope it doesn't get in the way of him getting valuable reps in the preseason.
