The cornerback's 2025 season ended in December when he suffered the shoulder injury. A third-round pick a year ago, Thomas played in 12 games and on 311 defensive snaps as a rookie, recording seven pass breakups. He should be in the mix for a role again as 2026 approaches.

Thomas has been dealing with a shoulder issue since last week's loss to the Dolphins, and he was already ruled out for this Sunday's contest versus Jacksonville. He'll now shift to IR for the remainder of the regular season, which will effectively end his 2025 campaign since the Jets have already been eliminated from playoff contention. Thomas tallied 22 tackles and seven passes defended across 12 appearances during his 2025 rookie season. In his absence, Qwan'tez Stiggers and/or Tre Brown should be in line for bigger roles opposite starting cornerback Brandon Stephens.

It's unclear whether Thomas has already cleared protocol following Glenn's comments Wednesday, but it appears as if he'll return for the Jets' Week 12 matchup against the Ravens on Sunday. The rookie corner from Florida State has recorded 12 total tackles and four passes defensed across just nine appearances this season. He's likely to have a larger role on the Jets' defense with Sauce Gardner being dealt to the Colts in early November.
