  • Ronnie Brown: Cut by Buccaneers

Tampa Bay is slated to waive Brown on Monday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Brown won't stick on the Buccaneers' 53-man roster despite performing well during preseason action, but he could be a candidate to pop back up on the practice squad. The undrafted rookie out of Shepherd logged four carries 13 yards and secured his only target for a 24-yard gain in Tampa Bay's preseason finale.

  • Buccaneers' Ronnie Brown: Closes preseason with solid showing

Brown rushed four times for 13 yards and brought in his only target for a 24-yard gain in the Buccaneers' 26-20 preseason win over the Ravens on Saturday night.

Brown's likely primary competitor for a roster spot, Sean Tucker, outgained him by 21 rushing yards on six additional carries and nine more snaps overall, but the former shined with his one reception. The Shepherd product wrapped up the exhibition slate with 33 yards on 12 carries and a 3-38 line through the air, and whether that was enough to make the leap from undrafted free agent to a spot on the active roster will soon be known.

  • Buccaneers' Ronnie Brown: Sees more action Saturday

Brown rushed seven times for 19 yards and brought in his only target for four yards in the Buccaneers' 13-6 preseason win over the Jets on Saturday night.

The former Division II star had logged only two touches in the preseason-opening loss to the Steelers, but his workload got a nice boost as the coaching staff gave both Brown and fellow undrafted rookie Sean Tucker long looks. Brown was in on 13 plays overall -- six fewer than Tucker -- and he finished third behind him and Patrick Laird in rushing yards. The 23-year-old will likely get another extended look during Saturday night's home preseason finale against the Ravens.

  • Buccaneers' Ronnie Brown: Two touches in preseason opener

Brown rushed once for one yard and secured his only target for 10 yards in the Buccaneers' 27-17 preseason loss to the Steelers on Friday night.

Brown logged just nine snaps from scrimmage overall, while the player that might be his primary competition for a roster spot, fellow undrafted rookie Sean Tucker, had 17. Neither player found any appreciable running room, but Brown was slightly more productive than his teammate with his one catch. The Shepherd product garnered First-Team Division II All-American honors in 2022 after compiling just under 2,500 yards from scrimmage and 24 total touchdowns, so the Buccaneers are likely to give both him and the similarly accomplished Tucker as long a look as they can during the remaining two preseason games.
