DT Sheffield: Let go with injury settlement

The Jets waived Sheffield (undisclosed) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Friday, per the NFL's transaction log. Sheffield was set to miss the entire 2026 season after reverting to the Jets' injured reserve Thursday. However, the injury settlement allows the wide receiver out of Rutgers to sign and play with a team once he's fully recovered from his undisclosed injury.

Sheffield (undisclosed) reverted to the Jets' injured-reserve list Thursday, per the NFL's transaction log. Sheffield was waived with an injury designation Wednesday and went unclaimed on waivers. The undrafted rookie will now either spend the 2026 campaign on injured reserve with the Jets or will eventually be let go with an injury settlement.
