  • Chad Beebe: Cut by Texans

Beebe was released by Houston on Monday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Beebe landed with the Texans in June after sitting out the entirety of last season due to a foot injury. The fifth-year wideout recorded a career-high 20 catches for 201 yards and two touchdowns over 14 games with Minnesota in 2020, and he will now look to carve out a role elsewhere this preseason.

  • Texans' Chad Beebe: Signed by Texans

Beebe signed a contract with the Texans on Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. After missing the entirety of the 2021 season with a foot injury, Beebe has joined the Texans ahead of their training camp next month. He last played in the NFL in 2020, turning 20 receptions into 201 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games with the Vikings.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: Moves to IR

Beebe (foot) reverted to the Vikings' injured reserve Wednesday. Beebe will require surgery to address a left foot injury, a development that prompted the Vikings to waive him Tuesday with an injury designation. Once the procedure is behind him, he'll focus on his recovery, which is expected to last a number of months, per Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com. With Beebe sidelined, Minnesota will entrust sporadic No. 3 wideout reps to K.J. Osborn, Dede Westbrook (knee), Ihmir Smith-Marsette and Dan Chisena.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: Needs surgery on foot

Beebe needs to undergo surgery on his left foot and will be sidelined for several months, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports. Beebe was competing with Ihmir Smith-Marsette and K.J. Osborn as a fringe wideout with returner capabilities, but his latest injury will most likely end the competition. The 27-year-old appeared in 14 contests with the Vikings last year, catching 20 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: Gets time with first-team offense

Beebe had two receptions for 23 yards in Friday's preseason loss at Kansas City. Beebe appeared to have fallen behind in the competition for the third receiver role with K.J. Osborn having a strong preseason. However, it was Beebe getting time with the first-team offense Friday. A St. Paul Pioneer Press report on Thursday also speculated Beebe may be the leading third-receiver candidate as well. Nevertheless, Dede Westbrook (knee) ultimately may win the No. 3 job when he gains full clearance from the torn ACL he sustained in 2020. The third receiver role for the Vikings could be in flux early in the regular season and we may not know who will get the most snaps before a Week 1 matchup against the Bengals.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: Shows spark Saturday

Beebe had two receptions on four targets for 47 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to Indianapolis. Beebe appears to have fallen behind in the competition for the third receiver role with K.J. Osborn seen having a strong training camp and getting work with the starting offense Saturday over Beebe. The third receiver role remains uncertain, as Dede Westbrook (knee) may ultimately win the job when he gains full clearance from the torn ACL he sustained in 2020. Still, Beebe's strong showing Saturday will keep him in the mix.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: Competing for No. 3 role

Coach Mike Zimmer said Beebe has done a nice job competing for the No. 3 receiver role in training camp, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Beebe is the incumbent, but that isn't necessarily a big advantage after he caught only 20 passes for 201 yards and two TDs in 14 games last season. Granted, he played only 314 snaps, with Minnesota using 11 personnel on a league-low 29 percent of plays. The team could use more three-wide sets after losing Kyle Rudolph in the offseason, though backup TE Tyler Conklin filled in capably last year. Beebe is competing with Dede Westbrook and fifth-round rookie Ihmir Smith-Marsette, while Bisi Johnson bowed out of the competition with an ACL tear at the end of July.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: Pens minimum deal

Beebe re-signed Wednesday with the Vikings on a one-year, $920,000 contract, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Beebe would have been owed $2.1 million had the Vikings tendered him, so the team will save over $1 million against the cap by getting him back on a minimum deal. Behind Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen, there probably isn't room for another fantasy-relevant wideout to emerge in Minnesota, but Beebe has proven to be a reliable depth piece.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: Won't be tendered, could re-sign

The Vikings won't place a tender on Beebe, allowing him to hit free agency, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Beebe proved capable of significant playing time as a backup wideout in his third NFL season, and the Vikings reportedly want to bring him back in a similar role for 2021. However, the lowest possible tender Minnesota could hand Beebe would be worth $2.1 million, a price which the team evidently wants driven down. That leaves Beebe on track to hit the open market Wednesday afternoon.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: Becomes regular in offense

Beebe ended the season catching 20 of 30 targets for 201 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games. In his third year with the Vikings, Beebe emerged as a capable backup and achieved career highs in receptions, targets, yards, touchdowns and appearances. This was the first season the 26-year-old was a regular on offense, but it remains to be seen if Minnesota will retain the upcoming restricted free agent.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: No targets in loss

Beebe wasn't targeted in Friday's 52-33 loss to the Saints. Beebe played 36 percent of the offensive snaps, but he failed to receive a target for the fourth time this season. This offense continues to run through Dalvin Cook, Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson, so Beebe's fantasy prospects are low.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: Secures both targets

Beebe caught both his targets for 21 yards during Sunday's 33-27 loss to the Bears. The 26-year-old operated as Minnesota's No. 3 wide receiver, but that only resulted in 20 offensive snaps Sunday. Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson should continue to dominate the production from the Vikings' wideouts.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: No receptions Sunday

Beebe did not have a reception on three targets in Sunday's loss at Tampa Bay. He also returned two punts for a 7.5 yard average. Beebe played on 34 of the offense's 79 snaps, so he saw about his customary amount of playing time. However, he failed to make a reception for just the second time in five games. Still, he's not getting enough targets as Minnesota's slot receiver to make an impact in most fantasy formats. The majority of looks go to Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson if both are healthy. Beebe is back to returning punts after a key fumble in Week 12.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: Garners three targets

Beebe caught two of three targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 27-24 overtime win against the Jaguars. After playing hero in a Week 12 win over the Panthers, Beebe reverted to his typical usage with Adam Thielen back from the COVID-19 list. He played 28 snaps on offense (31 percent) and saw a 7.5 percent target share. Beebe's still the clear No. 3 wideout, but Kirk Cousins' narrow target tree heavily favors Thielen, Justin Jefferson and Dalvin Cook.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: Atones for late miscue

Beebe brought in all seven targets for 63 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings' 28-27 win over the Panthers on Sunday. He also netted zero yards on his two punt returns and muffed a third. Beebe ran the gamut of emotions in the last two minutes-plus of the back-and-forth affair, first muffing a punt at his own 14-yard line that led to a Joey Slye field goal and a six-point Panthers lead. However, Beebe was then able to come back and snare what would turn out to be a 10-yard scoring grab with just 46 seconds remaining, atoning for his earlier error in fine fashion. The third-year Northern Illinois product has primarily been limited to special teams all season, but Adam Thielen's absence Sunday due to his placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list opened up a rare opportunity from scrimmage for Beebe. However, the 26-year-old is likely to revert to his spot deep down the depth chart if Thielen returns for a Week 13 battle against the Jaguars.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: Stays in slot role

Bisi Johnson will start as the No. 2 wide receiver Sunday against Carolina with Beebe working as the No. 3 slot receiver while Adam Thielen remains on the COVID-19 list, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Beebe had been playing as the No. 3 receiver ahead of Johnson when Thielen was active, but he'll stay in the slot role with Johnson moving out wide with Thielen sidelined. Still, Beebe could get more targets of the two, though the Vikings may not target many receivers beyond Justin Jefferson as the team may lean on the running game even more than usual.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: No receptions Sunday

Beebe did not have a reception or target in Sunday's loss to Dallas. He played 17 snaps on offense. The Vikings utilized two tight ends more with Irv Smith back from a groin injur, and the game flow didn't dictate the use of three-receiver sets as much. Beebe remains the third receiver, but he could have a larger role this week if Adam Thielen misses time after landing on the COVID-19 list.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: Makes two grabs

Beebe caught both of his targets for 16 yards in Monday night's 19-13 win over the Bears. Beebe helped the Vikings move the sticks with a 12-yard reception during the first quarter. With another grab later, the third-year pro posted just the third multi-catch game of his career, giving him something to build on in advance of Week 11's game versus the Cowboys.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: No catches against Lions

Beebe was not targeted on any of his 17 offensive snaps, though he did register a 19-yard kickoff return during Sunday's 34-20 win against Detroit. Beebe's offensive workload Sunday was in line with his involvement from previous games, as he had averaged 19.6 offensive snaps per contest in five appearances between Weeks 3 and 8. The Northern Illinois standout has totaled five receptions for 47 yards on the 2020 campaign, adding 2.3 yards per attempt on his three punt returns. In a top-heavy receiving corps that consists of Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson, Beebe has been hardly involved despite being listed as the No. 3 wideout.

  • Vikings' Chad Beebe: One catch in Week 8

Beebe caught his lone target for 16 yards in Sunday's 28-22 win over Green Bay. No Vikings player caught more than three passes, as the team rode Dalvin Cook's dominant rushing performance to an upset victory over the NFC North rival Packers. With Minnesota likely to go run-heavy with a healthy Cook, Beebe will have a hard time carving out much of a role as the team's distant third receiver behind Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson.
