  • Ravens' Rashod Bateman: Lightly used Thursday night

Bateman caught two passes for 53 yards on five targets in Thursday's loss to the Chiefs.

Bateman was on the field for 84 percent of the snaps Thursday but finished fourth on the team in targets. The Ravens threw an uncharacteristic 41 times, something that in all likelihood won't happen too often this season, and he still could not draw Lamar Jackson's attention. Bateman being fourth in line for targets is a disappointing start for those believing in a breakout from him this season. However, the Ravens have a more favorable Week 2 matchup with the Raiders going to Baltimore.

  • Ravens' Rashod Bateman: Back on the field

Bateman (undisclosed) returned to practice Monday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

Bateman, who exited last Monday's practice, didn't play in Friday's preseason opener, but the wideout now is back on the field, he'll have an opportunity to cement his key role in the Ravens' passing attack alongside fellow starting WR Zay Flowers. Assuming he can stay healthy, the 2021 first-rounder could be poised for a breakout effort in 2024 while working as one of QB Lamar Jackson's primary targets.

  • Ravens' Rashod Bateman: Expected to be back soon

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Sunday that he expects Bateman to return from an undisclosed injury soon, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Bateman appeared to sustain an injury to his midsection during practice last Monday and did not play in Friday's 16-13 preseason loss to the Eagles. Harbaugh said Tuesday that the issue was nothing serious, and it's unlikely that he would have played Friday even if he was healthy, as the rest of Baltimore's first-team offense did not suit up either. Bateman missed 12 regular-season games with a foot injury during his sophomore 2022 campaign, but he missed just one game last season and caught 32 passes for 367 yards and one touchdown across 16 regular-season games.

  • Ravens' Rashod Bateman: Practice exit downplayed

Coach John Harbaugh noted Tuesday that the unspecified issue which caused Bateman to exit Monday's practice early is nothing serious, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

Bateman landed on the ball during Monday's session, which explains why the wideout appeared to be holding his ribs or midsection afterward. The wideout isn't expected to miss much practice time, and his status for Friday's preseason opener against the Eagles likely hinges on the team's plans in general for its starters.

  • Ravens' Rashod Bateman: Exits practice Monday

Bateman appeared to injure his midsection during Monday's practice, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

Per Brian Wacker of the Baltimore Sun, Bateman walked off with a trainer while appearing to hold his midsection or ribs and then didn't finish Monday's session. For now, consider Bateman day-to-day as Friday's preseason game against the Eagles approaches.

  • Ravens' Rashod Bateman: Back in action

Bateman (undisclosed) returned to practice Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

An unspecified issue caused Bateman to exit Monday's practice early, but his return to the field Wednesday aligns with head coach John Harbaugh's previous assertion that the wideout wasn't dealing with anything major. As the 2024 campaign approaches, Bateman has a chance to see an uptick in production in his fourth year while working as one of Lamar Jackson's top targets alongside 2023 first-round wideout Zay Flowers and star tight end Mark Andrews.
