Swinson failed to crack the Packers' 53-man roster and was waived by the team Sunday. He'll get a fresh opportunity in Cleveland and would be a candidate for elevation to the active roster if one of Harold Fannin, Blake Whiteheart or Carsen Ryan were to miss time. Swinson has yet to play in an NFL regular-season game since entering the league in May of 2024 as an undrafted free agent.

The tight end spent time on the practice squads of San Francisco, Arizona and ultimately Green Bay last season before signing a reserve/future contract with the Packers in January. During training camp, though, Swinson found himself behind 2025 breakout star Tucker Kraft, free-agent signing Jonnu Smith, and two blocking tight ends in Josh Whyle and Drake Dabney. Swinson went undrafted out of Arizona State in 2024 and has yet to appear in an NFL regular-season game.

Swinson joined the Cardinals' practice squad Oct. 30 and was not elevated for any games throughout his tenure. The tight end was likely let loose because the team was able to poach Rivaldo Fairweather from the Cowboys' practice squad. If Swinson clears waivers, he will become a free agent able to sign with any team.
