  • Jaren Hall: Reverts to practice squad

Hall reverted to the Seahawks' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Hall was inactive for Sunday's game against the Packers, but he was available as the Seahawks' emergency third quarterback behind Geno Smith (knee) and Sam Howell. Smith suffered a right knee injury in the third quarter, and if he's unable to play in Week 16 against the Vikings, Hall could be the Seahawks' backup quarterback behind Howell.

  • Seahawks' Jaren Hall: Elevated from practice squad

Hall was elevated from the practice squad Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Packers, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Hall was part of the active roster for the first time this season in the Week 13 matchup against the Jets, but he didn't suit up. With Geno Smith and Sam Howell available as the top two options at quarterback for Seattle, Hall is expected to be the emergency signal-caller Sunday.

  • Jaren Hall: Back with practice squad

Hall reverted to the Seahawks' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Hall was inactive for Sunday's 26-21 win over the Jets, joining the active roster for the first time this season. With Geno Smith and Sam Howell operating as the team's top two options at quarterback, Hall hasn't had a direct path to playing time.

  • Seahawks' Jaren Hall: Inactive despite elevation

Hall (coach's decision), who was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, is inactive for Sunday's Week 13 game versus the Jets. Hall hasn't yet suited up this season, and he'll remain out of action Sunday against New York with each of Seattle's top two quarterbacks -- Geno Smith and Sam Howell -- in good health. Per Brady Henderson of ESPN.com, Hall's elevation for Sunday's contest may simply be a case of the organization wanting to reward the QB for his time on the practice squad with a game check.

  • Seahawks' Jaren Hall: Elevated for Week 13

The Seahawks elevated Hall from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Colin Gunther of the team's official site reports. It's the first time Hall has been elevated to the active roster since signing with the Seahawks' practice squad in early September. Hall will likely operate as Seattle's emergency third quarterback against the Jets on Sunday behind starter Geno Smith and backup Sam Howell.

  • Jaren Hall: Finds new opportunity

Hall signed with the Seahawks' practice squad Monday. Hall was waived by the Vikings on Thursday, as they opted to go with Brett Rypien as their No. 3 option at quarterback instead. The BYU product will now fill that void for Seattle, as the team only had starter Geno Smith and backup Sam Howell at the position between its active roster and practice squad before today. Hall appeared in three contests for Minnesota last season, completing 13 of his 20 pass attempts for 168 yards and an interception, while also losing two fumbles.

  • Jaren Hall: Waived by Minnesota

The Vikings waived Hall on Thursday, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports. With Hall having been let go, the Vikings signed Brett Rypien to bolster a QB room that also includes starter Sam Darnold as well as Nick Mullens. The report notes that Hall suffered a leg contusion during Saturday's preseason finale against the Eagles, but the 2023 fifth-rounder was not waived with an injury designation.

  • Vikings' Jaren Hall: Sees bulk of action Saturday

Hall completed 17 of 25 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 26-3 preseason win over the Eagles. He added 11 rushing yards on two carries. The 2023 fifth-round pick got the start due to both Sam Darnold and Nick Mullens getting held out of the Vikings' preseason finale, and Hall played into the third quarter before being replaced under center by Matt Corral. Hall was was impressive, albeit against Philadelphia's second-team defenders, and he led Minnesota to five straight scoring drives to begin the game, hitting Trishton Jackson and Justin Hall for TDs in the red zone. The second-year player appears set as the Vikings' No. 3 quarterback, but even with J.J. McCarthy (knee) lost for the season, Hall is unlikely to see any regular-season action other than in an emergency.

  • Vikings' Jaren Hall: Fourth QB in Minnesota

Hall isn't projected to make the Vikings' 53-man roster, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. A 2023 fifth-round pick, Hall played 46 offensive snaps as a rookie and turned the ball over three times while absorbing four sacks. He completed 13 of 20 passes for just 168 scoreless yards. With the Vikings' first-round selection of J.J. McCarthy following the signing of Sam Darnold, Hall will need to beat out veteran Nick Mullens for the third spot if he's going to stick in Minnesota.

  • Vikings' Jaren Hall: Serving as emergency QB

Hall (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Lions, but he'll serve as the emergency quarterback, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports. Hall drew his first career start against the Packers in Week 17 but struggled and was benched in favor of Nick Mullens to start the second half. Hall was then demoted to third on the depth chart during Week 18 prep, so it's not surprising to see the rookie fifth-round pick listed as inactive for the regular-season finale. Mullens will start versus Detroit, while Joshua Dobbs serves as the primary backup.

  • Vikings' Jaren Hall: Falls to third on depth chart

Hall has been demoted to third on the depth chart at quarterback for Sunday's game against the Lions, Jonathan Harrison of SI.com reports. Head coach Kevin O'Connell announced Thursday that Hall would be denied a second straight start in the regular-season finale, with Nick Mullens picking up the starting nod in his stead. O'Connell wouldn't initially commit to whether Hall or Joshua Dobbs would serve as Mullens' backup in Week 18, but the coach clarified following Friday's practice that Dobbs had moved up to the second spot on the depth chart. Hall is thus likely to be inactive Sunday as an emergency third quarterback and won't be eligible to play unless the Vikings lose both Mullens and Dobbs to injury.

  • Vikings' Jaren Hall: Not starting Week 18

Hall will cede starting quarterback duties to Nick Mullens for Sunday's regular-season finale versus the Lions, but head coach Kevin O'Connell said Wednesday that he hasn't decided whether Hall or Joshua Dobbs will serve as the team's No. 2 signal-caller in Week 18, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports. The Vikings' decision to move Hall down at least one spot on the depth chart comes as little surprise after the rookie fifth-round pick struggled to move the offense during his second career NFL start in this past weekend's 33-10 loss to the Packers. Hall completed just five of 10 pass attempts for 67 yards and an interception, took three sacks and lost a fumble in the first two quarters before being benched in favor of Mullens after halftime. The Vikings' decision to reinstall Mullens as their starter for Week 18 marks the fifth quarterback change that O'Connell has made since Kirk Cousins suffered a season-ending torn Achilles' tendon in late October.

  • Vikings' Jaren Hall: In line to start Sunday

Hall is expected to be the Vikings' starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Packers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The rookie fifth-round pick has made two brief appearances this season, completing eight of 10 passes for 101 yards, rushing four times for 10 yards and losing a fumble back in Weeks 8 and 9 at Green Bay and Atlanta. In the meantime, Joshua Dobbs and then Nick Mullens have gotten the call under center, but with Minnesota coming off back-to-back losses and needing a win Sunday to keep playoff hopes alive, Hall will get his second career start. Hall won't have TE T.J. Hockenson (knee, IR) at his disposal, but WR Justin Jefferson will be around this time to provide a safety net in the passing game.

  • Vikings' Jaren Hall: Serving as No. 3 QB on Monday

Hall (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's Week 12 game against Chicago, though he will serve as Minnesota's emergency third quarterback. Hall missed the Vikings' past two games while in the league's five-step concussion protocol. Though he was cleared to play Monday against the Bears, Joshua Dobbs has ascended to the role of the team's lead signal-caller and will be backed up by Nick Mullens. As such, Hall will be able to play in the contest only if both Dobbs and Mullens get injured.

  • Vikings' Jaren Hall: Available for Monday

Hall (concussion) does not carry an injury designation ahead of Monday's game against the Bears. Hall sustained a concussion in his first career start against the Falcons in Week 9. He was able to log full practice sessions ahead of Week 12 and seems to have passed the NFL's five-step concussion protocol given that he does not carry an injury designation. While Joshua Dobbs has established himself as the starting quarterback for the Vikings after being traded from the Cardinals, there is less certainty around whether Hall will be the backup or if Minnesota opts to roll with Nick Mullens as the QB2.

  • Vikings' Jaren Hall: Upgraded to full Thursday

Hall (concussion) was a full participant in Thursday's practice. It's unclear if Hall has officially cleared concussion protocol after he was injured in the first quarter of the Week 9 win over the Falcons. Either way, Hall won't be starting this week against Denver with Josh Dobbs playing so well since his arrival in Minnesota.

  • Vikings' Jaren Hall: Limited at Wednesday walk-through

Hall (concussion) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report. Hall is still in the NFL's five-step concussion protocol after he missed Sunday's Week 10 win over New Orleans. The Vikings didn't hold an official practice Wednesday, but his estimated status as a limited participant is a step in the right direction given that he was unable to practice at all last week. Joshua Dobbs has been impressive in leading Minnesota to a pair of wins since stepping in for Hall early in Week 9 against Atlanta, so Hall will likely serve as Dobbs' backup when he's able to return to the field.

  • Vikings' Jaren Hall: Missing for another practice

Hall (concussion) isn't slated to practice Thursday, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. While Hall is sidelined for a second straight practice, the Vikings are left with Joshua Dobbs and practice squad members Sean Mannion and Tanner Morgan as their three available quarterbacks. Head coach Kevin O'Connell has already suggested that Dobbs is being prepared for the start Sunday against the Saints, and at this stage, Hall doesn't look as though he's on pace to clear the five-step concussion protocol in time to serve as Dobbs' backup this weekend. With that in mind, look for the Vikings to elevate one of Mannion or Morgan to the roster prior to game day.

  • Vikings' Jaren Hall: No activity Wednesday

Hall (concussion) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice. Hall's early departure this past Sunday paved the way for Joshua Dobbs' heroics in an eventual 31-28 victory in Atlanta. The rookie quarterback was diagnosed with a concussion, and with Hall a spectator for the Vikings' first Week 10 practice, he may not be ready to serve as Dobbs' backup Sunday against the Saints. With Kirk Cousins (Achilles) out for the season and Nick Mullens (back) still on injured reserve, practice-squad member Sean Mannion may get the No. 2 assignment instead of Hall if the latter doesn't clear the five-step protocol in advance of Sunday's game.

  • Vikings' Jaren Hall: In protocol, won't start Week 10

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell confirmed that Hall was placed in the concussion protocol following Sunday's 31-28 win over the Falcons and won't be an option to start Week 10 versus the Saints, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Making his first NFL start Sunday a week after Kirk Cousins suffered a season-ending Achilles tear, Hall completed five of six pass attempts for 78 yards and ran twice for 11 yards before leaving the game in the first quarter with a concussion. Trade-deadline pickup Joshua Dobbs stepped in at quarterback despite having few practice reps with the Vikings since his acquisition, and though he got off to a slow start, he ultimately accounted for 224 yards and three touchdowns through the air and on the ground and orchestrated the Vikings' game-winning, 11-play drive scoring drive in the fourth quarter. O'Connell said Monday that Dobbs will get all the first-team reps in practice this week in preparation to start against New Orleans, and if Dobbs performs well, he'll presumably remain atop the depth chart moving forward. Per Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com, Hall looks like he'll face an uphill battle to clear the five-step protocol in time to serve as a backup to Dobbs on Sunday, and O'Connell expressed uncertainty that Nick Mullens (back) would be ready to return from injured reserve this week. As a result, practice-squad member Sean Mannion could be elevated for Week 10 to back up Dobbs.
