  • Texans' Derek Stingley: Little activity in win

Stingley was not thrown at until the final play of Sunday's win over the Colts, Sam Warren of the Houston Chronicle reports. Indianapolis quarterback Daniel Jones shied away from Stingley until the Colts' final offensive snap, when the cornerback broke up a pass intended for Michael Pittman. Per Pro Football Weekly, Stingley has been thrown at just three times over the last two games and has allowed a combined 23 receiving yards in the last three contests.

  • Texans' Derek Stingley: Empty box score in TNF win

Stingley didn't record any tackles or pass breakups in Houston's win over the Bills on Thursday night. Buffalo stayed completely away from Stingley, who played all 66 defensive snaps Thursday night. Josh Allen threw at Stingley twice, completing one pass for 11 scoreless yards. A first-team All-Pro cornerback last season, Stingley has been a massive part of Houston's elite play on the defensive side of the ball in 2025, essentially taking away half the field. He's recorded 25 tackles (19 solo) and 11 pass breakups, including three interceptions, across 11 starts this season.

  • Texans' Derek Stingley: Picks off Darnold in Week 7

Stingley tallied two total tackles (both solo) and one interception in Monday night's 27-19 loss to the Seahawks. The 2022 first-round pick continues to prove why he's one of the league's top cornerbacks, picking off a pass intended for AJ Barner in the fourth quarter of Monday's loss. Stingley has now recorded 13 total tackles and five passes defended, including two interceptions, over the Texans' first six games this season. He's expected to continue causing problems for opposing quarterbacks in the Week 8 matchup against the 49ers.

It was Stingley's second interception of the season with both coming in the last three games.

  • Texans' Derek Stingley: Uncertain for Week 4

Stingley (oblique) is questionable to play Sunday versus the Titans. Stingley was able to return to practice Friday in a limited capacity after missing the first two sessions of the week with an oblique injury that he suffered in Week 3. If the cornerback can't go against Tennessee, Tremon Smith is a top candidate to start in his place.

  • Texans' Derek Stingley: Begins week with DNP

Stingley (oblique) didn't practice Wednesday. Stingley suffered an oblique injury this past Sunday versus the Jaguars and was deemed day-to-day by coach DeMeco Ryans on Monday. Stingley's lack of practice Wednesday isn't a promising sign toward his availability for Sunday's matchup against Tennessee, but he'll have two more chances to get on the field this week before the Texans potentially tag him with a status heading into the weekend. If Stingley can't suit up Sunday, Tremon Smith could start in his place.

  • Texans' Derek Stingley: Won't return vs. Jacksonville

Stingley (abdomen) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Stingley suffered what initially was called a rib injury late in the first quarter, but further evaluation has determined that the reason for his departure was an abdominal issue. Jalen Pitre and Tremon Smith are the top options to see more work at outside corner following Stingley's injury.

  • Texans' Derek Stingley: Makes All-Pro team in 2024

Stingley finished the 2024 season with 54 tackles (37 solo) and 18 pass breakups, including five interceptions, across 17 regular-season games. After missing a total of 14 games due to injuries across his first two NFL seasons, Stingley made all 17 starts in 2024 and went on to make his first Pro Bowl in addition to being named a first-team All-Pro at cornerback. Stingley is likely to have his fifth-year club option for 2026 exercised this offseason, but he's also a strong candidate for an extension coming off a huge campaign. Stingley will undoubtedly be in the mix to become the league's highest-paid cornerback whenever he does sign a new deal.

Stingley recorded two tackles and three passes defensed, including an interception, in Sunday's 23-20 win over Jacksonville in Week 13. Stingley returned his pick 31 yards to give Houston a short field at Jacksonville's 44-yard line. That led to the second of three Ka'imi Fairbairn field goals, giving Houston a 6-0 lead. It was the second interception in three games for Stingley, who has three for the season. All three have led to points (one TD, two FG).

  • Texans' Derek Stingley: Playing in Week 12

Stingley (hip) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Titans. Stingley practiced in full Friday after beginning the Texans' week of practice with back-to-back limited sessions, so it appears he's moved past his hip injury in time to suit up in Week 12. The third-year pro has impressed through Houston's first 11 games this season, recording 36 total tackles and 12 passes defended, including two interceptions. Expect Stingley to serve as the Texans' top outside cornerback in Sunday's divisional matchup.

  • Texans' Derek Stingley: Estimated as limited

Stingley (hip) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's practice estimation. The Texans' top cornerback played though a hip issue in Houston's Week 11 win over the Cowboys, recording two total tackles and two passes defended, including one interception, across 69 defensive snaps. This suggests that Stingley's estimated limited session Wednesday is likely precautionary, and he'll likely be ready for Sunday's matchup against the Titans unless he downgrades to no participation Thursday or Friday.

  • Texans' Derek Stingley: Good to go for Monday night

Stingley (hip) doesn't carry an injury designation into Monday night's game against the Cowboys and is expected to play. After logging a DNP on Thursday, Stingley upgraded to limited Friday and full practice Saturday. The Texans' star corner has yet to miss a game this season and has logged 100 percent of the defensive snaps in eight of 10 contests, including four straight. On the year, Stingley has 34 tackles (25 solo) and one interception.

  • Texans' Derek Stingley: Dealing with hip injury

Stingley (hip) was listed as a DNP on Thursday's injury report, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports. Stingley played all 62 defensive snaps during the Texans' Week 10 loss to the Lions and finished the game with two tackles (one solo) and one pass defense. However, it appears he may have picked up a hip injury in the process, which prevented him from practicing Thursday. Stingley will have two more chances to increase his practice participation this week ahead of Monday's game against the Cowboys.

  • Texans' Derek Stingley: Busy as a tackler Sunday

Stingley recorded seven tackles (four solo) and a pass defensed during Sunday's 23-20 win versus the Bills. Stingley hadn't posted seven tackles in a single game since Week 5 of his rookie year back in 2022, so Sunday's contest was an outlier for him in that regard. That fact makes him hard to trust as an IDP option in most formats despite his clearly being a strong asset for the Texans.

Stingley recorded four tackles and two passes defensed in a 24-20 win over Jacksonville in Week 4. With the Jaguars up 20-17 late in the third quarter and trying to make it a two-score lead at Houston's one-yard line, Stingley broke up a third-and-goal pass in the end zone. Jacksonville's subsequent attempt on fourth-and-goal was stuffed by the middle of Houston's defensive line, preserving the one-score deficit. Per Pro Football Focus, Stingley posted a 90.3 coverage grade in the win. He has nine tackles, three passes defensed and one interception through four contests.

The transaction starts the clock on a 21-day window during which the Texans can officially activate Stingley before they'd be forced to shut him down for the remainder of the season. Houston's injury reports this week will shed some light on whether he'll be ready to play come Sunday at Cincinnati.

  • Texans' Derek Stingley: Expected to be placed on IR

Stingley (hamstring) is expected to land on injured reserve, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Stingley is expected to be sidelined six-to-eight weeks due to a hamstring injury. IR only requires a four-week stay, so he would be eligible to return once he returns to health. In his absence, Shaquill Griffin is a candidate to replace him at cornerback opposite Steven Nelson, while Ka'dar Hollman, Alex Austin and Grayland Arnold could also see increased reps.
