  • Commanders' Leo Chenal: Lands in Washington

Chenal agreed to terms Tuesday on a three-year contract with the Commanders, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Chenal always played a consistent role during his three years with the Chiefs, but he never surpassed 439 defensive snaps in a season. When he's on the field, he's quite dependable, stacking up 193 tackles, including 6.0 sacks, over 48 games through the last two seasons. With Bobby Wagner likely holding onto an every-down role, Chenal will need to battle for reps behind the likes of Dorance Armstrong (knee) and Frankie Luvu.

  • Chiefs' Leo Chenal: Dealing with shoulder issue

Chenal (shoulder) won't practice Wednesday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Despite playing 37 defensive snaps and recording three total tackles, including 0.5 sacks, in the Week 15 loss to the Chargers, Chenal appears to have sustained a shoulder injury. The Wisconsin product likely needs to upgrade to at least limited practice Thursday or Friday to have a chance at suiting up for Sunday's matchup against the Titans.

  • Chiefs' Leo Chenal: Tallies four tackles Sunday

Chenal logged four tackles (one solo) and a pass defended in Kansas City's loss to the Broncos on Sunday. Chenal had a productive outing in the loss despite playing only 48 percent of the team's defensive snaps. The 2022 third-round pick has recorded four or more tackles in eight of his 10 appearances this season and is now just 22 tackles shy of his career-high mark of 65 set back in 2023.

  • Chiefs' Leo Chenal: Able to play Week 16

Chenal (illness) is not among Kansas City's inactives for Saturday's tilt against the Texans. A late-week illness resulted in Chenal being given a questionable tag Friday, but the third-year pro will ultimately be able to suit up. Chenal logged a season-low 17 percent of the Chiefs' defensive snaps against Cleveland last Sunday, though he impressed with four tackles and a forced fumble in that limited amount of action. He's been impactful both on defense and special teams this season, but Chenal hasn't logged more than 45 percent of Kansas City's defensive snaps since Week 7 versus San Francisco.

Chenal (illness) is questionable for Saturday's game against the Texans, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Chenal was added to the injury report Friday with a recently occurring illness. The third-year linebacker has yet to miss a game this season, and the final decision on his status could be announced approximately 90 minutes prior to Saturday's kickoff.

Chenal finished Sunday's 27-20 win over Las Vegas with four solo tackles, including 1.0 sacks. It wasn't until late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game that Chenal logged his first sack of the 2024 regular season. He was credited with the sack after getting to Gardner Minshew while the quarterback was running out of bounds for a minimal loss. Through the first seven games of the regular season, Chenal has tallied 27 tackles (21 solo), including 1.0 sacks, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles.

Chenal had seven tackles (three solo), including one tackle for loss, and two passes defensed in Thursday's 27-20 win over the Ravens. Chenal posted a well-rounded performance in the regular-season opener. He got attention from trainers after some friendly fire from a teammate on a tackle attempt, but Chenal was able to stay in the game. The linebacker has extra time to recover from any lingering effects before the Chiefs host the Bengals in Week 2.

  • Chiefs' Leo Chenal: Gets another sack Sunday

Chenal recorded seven tackles (four solo), including a sack, in Sunday's 21-14 win over the Dolphins. Chenal registered in the sack column for the second straight game in Week 9. He's seen more playing time over the last couple weeks with Nick Bolton dealing with a wrist injury, and he's made good on the opportunity up to this point. After a Week 10 bye, Kansas City will host a run-heavy Philadelphia offense.
