    Coleman (concussion) does not have an injury designation for Sunday's clash against the Giants, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports. Coleman suffered a concussion Week 7 versus Carolina and subsequently missed Week 8 versus the Bears. However, he was able to log a pair of full practices to end this week and will thus be able to suit up Sunday. Coleman's return comes at a good time, as Cornelius Lucas, who had been starting at left tackle, is out Sunday due to an ankle injury.

    Coleman (concussion) was a full practice participant Thursday. Coleman was diagnosed with a concussion in Week 7, which sidelined him for Week 8 against the Bears. He was a limited practice participant Wednesday, but his ability to practice in full Thursday indicates that Coleman is progressing through the league's concussion protocols. He still has some more steps to go through before getting clearance to play Sunday against the Giants.

He was unable to practice all week while working through the league's concussion protocols, and that could put him in jeopardy of also missing the Commanders' Week 9 NFC East showdown against the Giants on Sunday, Nov. 3. Cornelius Lucas filled in at left tackle after Coleman's exit in Week 7, and the former figures to draw the start at that spot for Sunday's contest.

    Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters Monday that Coleman is in concussion protocol following Sunday's 40-7 win over the Panthers, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports. The 2024 third-round pick out of TCU played just 15 offensive snaps before exiting Washington's blowout win due to a concussion. Coleman's participation in practice throughout the week will provide the best indication of whether he can return for the Commanders' Week 8 matchup against the Bears. However, Coleman must clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in order to suit up Sunday, regardless of his practice participation.

    The Commanders selected Coleman in the third round of the NFL Draft, 67th overall. Washington continues to stack talent at positions of need in the new front office's first draft. Coleman started at left tackle and left guard for some excellent TCU teams and grades out as a plus athlete for either spot at the next level. With experience across the left side of the line, Coleman should immediately challenge for a starting job as a rookie.
