Unless he's claimed by another club during the current waiver period, Curtis is now on track to become a free agent. He signed with the Jets as a rookie undrafted free agent back in May, but his next opportunity may have to come with a different team.

  • Chase Curtis: Waived/injured by New York

The Jets waived/injured Curtis (knee) on Sunday, Eric Allen and Amanda Vogt of the team's official site report. Curtis exited the Jets' preseason contest against the Steelers early with a knee injury. The tight end's issue proved severe enough to keep him out of the preseason finale against the Giants on Friday. Curtis will likely clear waivers and revert to the team's injured reserve list, where he will spend the entirety of the 2026 regular season unless he is waived with an injury settlement.

  • Jets' Chase Curtis: Won't return Friday

Curtis (knee) is out for the remainder of Friday's preseason contest at Pittsburgh. The severity of the injury is unknown at this point, but it will at least keep Curtis off the field for the rest of the game. In his absence, fellow undrafted rookie free-agent tight end Connor Hulstein may see an uptick in snaps.
