Top Blackhawks News

  • Blackhawks' Connor Murphy: Cold on offense

Murphy has gone 19 games without a point after coming up scoreless in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Maple Leafs.

For the season, Murphy has three helpers, 28 shots on net, 46 blocked shots, 29 hits, 26 PIM and a minus-5 rating in 33 appearances. He's been a regular in the lineup as a third-pairing option. The Blackhawks went with seven blueliners early in the year but have switched to the traditional six defensemen recently, which could put Murphy at risk of occasionally being a scratch going forward. While his non-scoring production is steady, fantasy managers can find better options on the waiver wire in most formats.

  • Blackhawks' Dominic Toninato: Registers first assist

Toninato notched an assist, three hits and two PIM in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Maple Leafs.

Toninato, a fifth-round pick of Toronto in 2012, was able to get on the scoresheet with a helper on Wyatt Kaiser's first-period tally. This was Toninato's first point in two games at the NHL level this year. He'll have a chance to see fourth-line usage until the Blackhawks get either Nick Foligno (hand) or Connor Bedard (upper body) back in the lineup.

  • Blackhawks' Ilya Mikheyev: Draws shorthanded helper

Mikheyev notched a shorthanded assist and four shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Maple Leafs.

Mikheyev snapped a month-long point drought, which saw him go scoreless with a minus-9 rating and 25 shots on net over 14 contests. The Blackhawks' offense will struggle without Connor Bedard (upper body) for the next little bit, but getting the depth players like Mikheyev to find a groove could help. Mikheyev has eight points, 56 shots on net and a minus-4 rating over 31 appearances in a middle-six role.

  • Blackhawks' Wyatt Kaiser: Two goals in last three games

Kaiser scored a goal in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Maple Leafs.

Off a draw, Kaiser got the puck at the blue line. He skated into the slot before scoring with a wrist shot past Joseph Woll's glove. Kaiser has just three goals and four assists in 33 games, but two of those goals have come in the last three games (eight shots). And all three of those goals have come in his last seven games.

  • Blackhawks' Jason Dickinson: First goal in 10 games

Dickinson scored a shorthanded goal Tuesday in a 3-2 loss to Toronto.

William Nylander turned the puck over at the blue line, allowing Dickinson and Ilya Mikheyev to break out. It was Dickinson's third goal this season and first in 10 games. Overall, he has three goals, three assists and 27 shots in 20 games this season. He's best left on the wire.

  • Blackhawks' Spencer Knight: Bright spot in dark season

Knight made 23 saves in a 3-2 loss to the Maple Leafs on Tuesday.

The Hawks seemed to be cruising until they collapsed and the Leafs scored twice within eight seconds late in the third to steal the win. Knight may be 1-3-0 in his last four starts, but he's one of the Blackhawks' top players this season. He's 10-8-5 with a 2.54 GAA and .914 save percentage in 23 starts. He has two shutouts. Unfortunately, the Hawks are three points from the bottom of the Western Conference.

  • Blackhawks' Spencer Knight: Defending crease Tuesday

Knight will protect the road net against Toronto on Tuesday, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.

Knight is coming off a 23-save effort in Friday's 3-2 loss to St. Louis. He has a 10-7-5 record with two shutouts, a 2.52 GAA and a .915 save percentage through 22 appearances this season. Toronto is tied for fifth in the league with 3.29 goals per game this year.

  • Blackhawks' Artyom Levshunov: Not playing against Leafs

Levshunov will not be in action versus Toronto on Tuesday after showing up late to practice Monday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.

Levshunov's absence will see Ethan Del Mastro link up with Connor Murphy on the Hawks' third pairing while Wyatt Kaiser steps into a power-play role. In his last nine appearances, the 20-year-old Levshunov failed to find the back of the net while chipping in two assists, 12 shots and 10 blocks.

  • Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit: Set to land on waivers

Brossoit will be placed on waivers Monday, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Brossoit rejoined the Blackhawks on Monday following a conditioning stint with AHL Rockford, but head coach Jeff Blashill said that the netminder will be sent back to the minors if he clears waivers. Brossoit hasn't appeared in an NHL game since the 2023-24 campaign, but if he remains in the organization, he'll presumably be the first option to be called up if Chicago needs an additional goaltender.

  • Blackhawks' Nick Foligno: Joining road trip

Foligno (hand) will travel with the Blackhawks for their three-game road trip and could return against Montreal or Ottawa on Thursday or Saturday, respectively, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

While Foligno won't be in action for Tuesday's matchup with Toronto, he is trending in the right direction and should be back in the lineup before the Hawks return to Chicago. Prior to getting hurt, the Buffalo native was stuck in a season-long goal drought, failing to score while adding six assists in 15 appearances. At this point, Foligno could be in danger of missing the 15-goal mark for the first time since 2022-23.

  • Blackhawks' Connor Bedard: Out until January

Bedard (upper body) won't need surgery but will be sidelined until the calendar flips to 2026, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports Monday.

Bedard was already placed on injured reserve, so his timeline shouldn't come as a huge surprise. Given his potential return date, the 20-year-old center should still be in the mix for a spot on Canada's Olympic roster in February. While Bedard is on the shelf, Frank Nazar figures to take on the first-line center role, though Jason Dickinson could also be in the mix.

  • Blackhawks' Connor Bedard: Moves on IR

Bedard (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Monday.

Bedard sat out Saturday's 4-0 loss to Detroit after suffering what appeared to be a shoulder injury near the end of Friday's 3-2 loss to St. Louis. He didn't accompany the Blackhawks for the team's upcoming road trip, which begins against Toronto on Tuesday, and it's unclear when he will be ready to return to the lineup. The 20-year-old forward has amassed 19 goals, 44 points and 103 shots on net in 31 appearances this season.

  • Blackhawks' Ethan Del Mastro: Promoted from minors

Del Mastro was called up from AHL Rockford on Monday.

Del Mastro has appeared in one NHL game this season in which he logged 17:35 of ice time while recording six hits, two blocked shots and one shot on goal. Even with his promotion from the minors, Del Mastro is far from a lock to suit up versus the Maple Leafs on Tuesday and is more likely to serve as an emergency depth option for the club's three-game road trip.

  • Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit: Returns from conditioning stint

Brossoit (hip) rejoined the Blackhawks on Monday following his conditioning stint with AHL Rockford, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports.

Brossoit made three appearances for the IceHogs, in which he went 2-1-0 with a .900 save percentage -- though it will be the goalie goal that stands out the most from his time in the minors. At this point, when Brossoit might get into the crease for the Blackhawks remains to be seen, but he should eventually break into the rotation with Spencer Knight and Arvid Soderblom now that his hip problem is behind him.

... See More ... See Less
  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Gets no help in loss

Soderblom allowed three goals on 23 shots in Saturday's 4-0 loss to the Red Wings. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.

Soderblom was torched by the Red Wings' second line, which combined for a pair of tallies within the first five minutes of the game. This was Soderblom's fourth straight loss, and it was his best performance in that span, which isn't saying much since he's now allowed 23 goals on 136 shots during the skid. For the year, he's at a 3-6-1 record with a 3.84 GAA and an .876 save percentage over 10 outings. The Blackhawks appear to be committed to keeping Soderblom in the backup role, but the team also needs to act on Laurent Brossoit (hip) soon, as his conditioning loan with AHL Rockford is set to end Tuesday. If Brossoit joins the big club or is swapped for another goalie, Soderblom's NHL roster spot could be at risk.

  • Blackhawks' Jack Pridham: Hat trick in Kitchener's win

Pridham scored three goals in OHL Kitchener's 5-4 shootout win over Saginaw on Saturday.

Pridham had gone a little quiet with two assists over his previous four outings before this breakout game. The 20-year-old winger is up to 17 goals and 35 points over 30 appearances this season, a pace identical to the 27 goals and 54 points he logged in 48 regular-season contests a year ago. Pridham's scoring touch is evident, and he could be a nice middle-six winger for the Blackhawks in a few years.
