Top Blackhawks News

  • Blackhawks' Alec Martinez: Might be available for Thursday

Martinez (groin) practiced Wednesday and might be able to play Thursday, per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Martinez hasn't been in the lineup since Oct. 15 due to the injury. A determination about his status won't be made until Thursday, but if he is ready to go, then Martinez will likely serve on the top pairing alongside Seth Jones. That would probably result in Nolan Allan being a healthy scratch after remaining in the lineup for 12 straight games.

  • Blackhawks' Andreas Athanasiou: Going on waivers

Athanasiou will be placed on waivers Monday, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports.

Athanasiou has been a healthy scratch for nine straight games. He hasn't earned a point in five appearances while contributing six shots on goal, four blocked shots and five hits this season. Athanasiou's $4.25 million cap hit for 2024-25 will likely scare away teams from claiming him, meaning he could be ticketed for AHL Rockford if he clears waivers.

  • Blackhawks' Isaak Phillips: Reassigned to minors

Phillips was returned to AHL Rockford on Monday, per Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio.

Phillips has one goal, three shots on net, four blocked shots and three hits in three NHL outings this season. He hasn't earned a point in two minor-league appearances during the 2024-25 campaign. The demotion of Phillips could bode well for the availability of Alec Martinez (groin) ahead of Thursday's road matchup against Seattle.

  • Blackhawks' Seth Jones: Sets up game-winner

Jones registered an assist and three blocked shots in Sunday's 2-1 overtime win over the Wild.

Jones found Philipp Kurashev for the game-winning goal at 1:50 of overtime. With three points over his last five games, Jones has played well to begin November after ending October quiet. The defenseman is up to two goals, eight helpers, 35 shots on net, 31 blocked shots, 22 hits and a minus-3 rating across 16 appearances in a first-pairing role this season.

  • Blackhawks' Jason Dickinson: Tallies in overtime win

Dickinson scored a goal on three shots and added two PIM in Sunday's 2-1 overtime win over the Wild.

Dickinson snapped a five-game point drought with the first-period tally. The 29-year-old has not been as prominent on offense this season as he was in 2023-24, but he maintains a strong share of ice time as the third-line center. Dickinson is up to five points, 15 shots on net, 25 hits, 12 blocked shots, eight PIM and a plus-1 rating over 16 appearances. His defensive work keeps him in the lineup, but he's unlikely to be a long-term fantasy option at any point of the campaign.

  • Blackhawks' Philipp Kurashev: Nets game-winning goal

Kurashev scored the game-winning goal in Sunday's 2-1 overtime win over the Wild.

Kurashev has three points over his last seven outings. His tally Sunday was his biggest of the season, allowing the Blackhawks to steal a win from a division rival. The 25-year-old forward has moved all over the lineup in 2024-25 but has most often ended up on the second line while seeing power-play time. He's up to three goals, one assist, 21 shots on net and a minus-11 rating through 15 appearances.

  • Blackhawks' Petr Mrazek: Sharp in overtime win

Mrazek stopped 32 of 33 shots in Sunday's 2-1 overtime win over the Wild.

Mrazek has now alternated wins and losses for his last six outings, and this was his best of the bunch. He couldn't quite hold onto a shutout, allowing a Matt Boldy goal at 15:29 of the third period, but Philipp Kurashev won it for the Blackhawks in overtime. Mrazek improved to 5-7-0 with a 2.85 GAA and a .905 save percentage through 12 starts overall. The Blackhawks have a two-game week ahead with road contests in Seattle on Thursday and Vancouver on Saturday.

  • Blackhawks' Petr Mrazek: Tending twine Sunday

Mrazek will patrol the home crease Sunday versus Minnesota, according to Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Mrazek has a 2-2-0 record with a .908 save percentage over his last four outings. Through 11 appearances this season, he has posted a mark of 4-7-0 with a 3.02 GAA and an .898 save percentage. Minnesota ranks seventh in the league with 3.71 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit: No timetable for return

Per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times, Brossoit (knee) will remain out indefinitely, coach Luke Richardson said Saturday.

Brossoit underwent surgery Aug. 27, and he was expected to need seven weeks to recover. Richardson said it has taken way longer than initially projected, and there is currently no timetable for his return. Brossoit was expected to share the net with Petr Mrazek, and that could still happen upon his return.

  • Blackhawks' Ryan Donato: Notches power-play assist

Donato logged a power-play assist and five shots on goal in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Stars.

Donato lost his top-line gig after the end of his five-game point streak in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Red Wings. The 28-year-old still held a spot on the top power-play unit, which will keep him in the mix for fantasy consideration a little while longer. However, an even-strength assignment on the fourth line is likely to take a toll on his numbers. Donato has 10 points, 33 shots on net, 30 hits and a plus-3 rating over 13 contests this season. Until he's back alongside Connor Bedard on a regular basis, Donato is a player fantasy managers can replace once his offense goes cold.

  • Blackhawks' Connor Bedard: Slides power-play helper

Bedard recorded a power-play assist, three hits, two blocked shots, two PIM and a minus-2 rating in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Stars.

Bedard has four helpers over four games in November, but he has gone six contests without a goal. The 19-year-old is up to 13 points (six on the power play), 50 shots on net, six hits, 11 blocked shots, six PIM and a minus-4 rating through 15 contests overall. Bedard has modestly upped his shot rate this season, but he's converting at just a 6.0 percent clip, so he'll likely benefit from both the higher volume and a little positive regression as the campaign progresses.

  • Blackhawks' Tyler Bertuzzi: Nets lone goal on power play

Bertuzzi scored a power-play goal on three shots in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Stars.

Bertuzzi's tally at 9:00 of the third period broke up Jake Oettinger's shutout bid, but the Blackhawks didn't find an equalizer. Three of Bertuzzi's five goals this season have come on the power play. The winger has four points over his last five outings, and he's at a total of six points, 32 shots on net, 13 hits and a minus-5 rating through 15 contests overall.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Strong effort in loss

Soderblom allowed two goals on 39 shots in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Stars. The third goal was an empty-netter.

The Blackhawks didn't play all that well, but Soderblom did his best to keep things competitive. While he's won just one of his four starts so far, the 25-year-old netminder has allowed a total of nine goals on 135 shots, good for a .933 save percentage. He looks much more prepared for the NHL in 2024-25 than he did in either of the previous two seasons, and that's good news with Laurent Brossoit (knee) not yet close to a return. Soderblom remains in the backup role, and it'll likely be Petr Mrazek who gets the nod versus the Wild on Sunday, though Soderblom's strong play could earn him more looks in the near future.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Set to patrol road crease

Soderblom will start Thursday's road game against the Stars, Owen Newkirk of DLLS Sports reports.

Soderblom will make just his fourth start of the season in the second half of a back-to-back set. The 25-year-old has had mixed results early in the year, posting a 1-1-1 record, 2.35 GAA and .927 save percentage over his three appearances.

  • Blackhawks' Connor Murphy: Adds helper Wednesday

Murphy posted an assist, two hits and three blocked shots in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Red Wings.

Murphy had opened November with a pair of scoreless efforts before assisting on a Nick Foligno goal Wednesday. Through 14 contests, Murphy has seven helpers -- putting him one point shy of matching last year's offensive output from 46 games. He's added 18 hits, 31 blocked shots, 21 PIM and 15 shots on net in 2024-25. Murphy is seeing top-four minutes, and while the offense is unlikely to last, his non-scoring production could be useful in deeper formats.

  • Blackhawks' Petr Mrazek: Gives up three goals Wednesday

Mrazek stopped 21 of 24 shots in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Red Wings. The fourth goal was an empty-netter with 2:13 left in the third period.

Mrazek has been inconsistent of late, going 2-2-0 with a 2.73 GAA and a .908 save percentage over his last four contests, and he's given up three or more goals in all but one of his last seven starts. On the season, the 32-year-old has gone 4-7-0 with a 3.02 GAA and an .898 save percentage, so he's been far from effective, although that could be expected since the Blackhawks should rank near the bottom of the Central Division standings once it's all said and done.

... See More ... See Less
  • Blackhawks' Nick Foligno: Scores in loss to Detroit

Foligno scored a goal in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Red Wings.

Foligno found the back of the net midway through the second period, but that would be all the offense Chicago would muster against Cam Talbot. Foligno has five goals on the season, and while he's lightened the lamp in two of his last three outings, he's not producing consistently enough to be a reliable fantasy contributor on a game-to-game basis. He's getting the job done as an enforcer, though, racking up 45 hits and nine blocked shots through his 14 contests.
