Top Blackhawks News

  • Blackhawks' Matt Grzelcyk: Quiet on offense

Grzelcyk's point drought reached eight games in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Mammoth.

Grzelcyk has just one assist over his last 20 outings. The 32-year-old blueliner is still maintaining a third-pairing role, but he could lose that spot to Ethan Del Mastro if the Blackhawks fully embrace playing their prospects. For the season, Grzelcyk has 12 helpers, 64 shots on net, 51 blocked shots, 26 hits, 28 PIM and a minus-8 rating over 64 appearances.

  • Blackhawks' Connor Bedard: Keeps rolling with two helpers

Bedard logged two assists, five shots on goal, four hits and two PIM in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Mammoth.

Bedard has five points over his last four contests. The 20-year-old is continuing to provide steady offense on the top line and first power-play unit. For the season, he has reached the 60-point mark and remains on track for a career year. He has 26 goals, 34 assists, 18 power-play points, 170 shots on net and 38 PIM through 51 appearances.

  • Blackhawks' Andrew Mangiapane: Nets first goal with new team

Mangiapane scored a goal in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Mammoth.

Mangiapane picked up his first goal in three games since the Blackhawks acquired him from the Oilers. The 29-year-old winger is occupying a third-line role for now, and he's not getting power-play time yet. He has struggled this season with eight goals, 15 points, 53 shots on net, 56 hits, 38 PIM, 22 blocked shots and a minus-20 rating over 55 appearances.

  • Blackhawks' Frank Nazar: Nets PP goal Monday

Nazar scored a power-play goal in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Mammoth.

Nazar pushed his current point streak to four games after lighting up the lamp with the game-winner in overtime, assisted by Connor Bedard and Teuvo Teravainen. Nazar has six points (two goals, four assists) during his current point streak, and the 22-year-old should continue to find opportunities to produce while holding a top-six role on offense and a spot in the first line of power-play duties.

  • Blackhawks' Andre Burakovsky: Snaps goalless skid

Burakovsky scored a goal in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Mammoth.

Burakovsky found the back of the net for the first time since Jan. 7, when he scored a power-play goal in a 7-3 win over the Blues. Even though the 31-year-old continues to play in the first line alongside Connor Bedard and Ryan Greene, he's not doing enough to be a reliable fantasy contributor. Burakovsky has only 11 goals and 31 points in 58 contests this season.

  • Blackhawks' Drew Commesso: Earns OT win Monday

Commesso stopped 22 of 24 shots in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Mammoth.

Commesso got the start Monday on the second leg of a back-to-back set due to the absence of Spencer Knight (illness), and the 23-year-old stepped up. As long as Knight remains sidelined, Commesso is likely to serve as Arvid Soderblom's understudy. Commesso's not a player worth targeting in most fantasy formats unless you're really short in terms of goaltending depth -- but even in that scenario, he's good only for specific matchups.

  • Blackhawks' Oliver Moore: Set for extended absence

Head coach Jeff Blashill said Monday that Moore will miss a significant amount of time due to a lower-body injury, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports.

Moore sustained the injury Sunday in Dallas. The full extent of Moore's injury has not been revealed, but there is a possibility the 21-year-old gets shut down for the rest of the season at some point in the near future, depending on how his recovery goes. Moore will probably land on injured reserve as well, with a forward being recalled from AHL Rockford in a corresponding move -- the Blackhawks currently have only 12 healthy forwards on their roster.

  • Blackhawks' Teuvo Teravainen: Picks up two assists Sunday

Teravainen had two assists, two shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Stars.

Teravainen set up Sam Rinzel in the first period and Connor Bedard with 1:20 left in regulation to force overtime. With three goals and four assists over six games since the Olympic break, Teravainen has hit the ground running. The 31-year-old winger reached the 30-point mark Sunday and has added 70 shots on net, 33 blocked shots and a minus-22 rating through 56 appearances in a top-six role.

  • Blackhawks' Frank Nazar: Dishes two helpers in overtime loss

Nazar logged two assists, three shots on goal and three blocked shots in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Stars.

Nazar has five points (one goal, four assists) over his last three outings. The 22-year-old center is on the second line and first power-play unit, so he should be able to sustain a strong level of offense down the stretch, though he has been streaky this year. Nazar has a career-high 29 points with 100 shots on net, 34 blocked shots, 25 hits, 24 PIM and a minus-14 rating over 47 appearances.

  • Blackhawks' Sam Rinzel: Puts away goal Sunday

Rinzel scored a goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Stars.

Rinzel has two points over his last three games. The 21-year-old defenseman is settling back into a top-four role after the Blackhawks traded away Connor Murphy to Edmonton, opening the door for a youth movement on the blue line. Rinzel has three goals, 12 points, 58 shots on net, 40 blocked shots, 28 hits and 36 PIM over 35 appearances this season.

  • Blackhawks' Connor Bedard: Snaps scoring drought

Bedard scored a goal on three shots in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Stars.

Bedard ended his three-game goal drought -- his longest since a four-game stretch from Jan. 22-27 -- when it mattered the most, as he evened things up at 3-3 with 1:20 left in the third period. Bedard continues to find ways to produce for a struggling Blackhawks team, and he has five points (three goals, two assists) in six games since the Olympic break, despite Chicago going 1-3-2 in that stretch.

  • Blackhawks' Tyler Bertuzzi: Keeps producing

Bertuzzi scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Stars.

Bertuzzi scored the team's first goal with a tip-in at the 6:59 mark of the first period to give Chicago a 1-0 lead. This was Bertuzzi's 27th goal of the season, and the 31-year-old veteran continues to find ways to produce. He has a point in five of Chicago's last six games, tallying two goals and three assists over that stretch.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Tagged with OT defeat

Soderblom stopped 27 of 31 shots in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Stars.

Soderblom avoided the loss in regulation, but an overtime goal from Miro Heiskanen just 22 seconds into the extra period forced the 26-year-old to settle with another defeat. Soderblom has dropped three of his last four starts, going 1-2-1 with 14 goals allowed on 118 shots (.881 save percentage) in that span. Since Spencer Knight (illness) won't be available Monday, Drew Commesso will get the nod versus Utah on the second leg of a back-to-back set. Soderblom should be the Blackhawks' No. 1 goaltender until Knight is ready to return.

  • Blackhawks' Spencer Knight: Not ready to return

Knight (illness) won't be in the lineup for Monday's home matchup against Utah, according to Mario Tirabassi of CHGO Sports.

Knight was on the ice briefly for Monday's optional morning skate, but he will miss his third straight game. He has some additional time to recover, as Chicago is off until Thursday's road rematch against the Mammoth. Knight has a 16-18-8 record this season with three shutouts, a 2.63 GAA and a .908 save percentage through 42 appearances.

  • Blackhawks' Drew Commesso: Between pipes Monday

Commesso will tend the twine at home versus Utah on Monday, Mario Tirabassi of CHGO Sports reports.

Commesso will be making his third appearance in the crease for the Blackhawks this season, having posted a 1-1-0 record and one shutout with five goals allowed on 60 shots in his first two contests. With Spencer Knight (illness) unavailable, Commesso gets the nod while Arvid Soderblom serves as the backup against the Mammoth.

  • Blackhawks' Oliver Moore: Ruled out for Monday's game

Moore (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Monday's home matchup against the Mammoth, per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Moore did not return to Sunday's game in Dallas after colliding into the end boards with Colin Blackwell. Head coach Jeff Blashill did not have an update on Moore's status other than to say that the 21-year-old will not be an option for Monday's contest. Chicago will face Utah again on the road Thursday, so more information on Moore's health should be available before then.

  • Blackhawks' Oliver Moore: Won't return to Sunday's game

Moore has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Stars due to an apparent injury, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports.

Moore exited Sunday's matchup in the first period after going down with an undisclosed injury, and he was ruled out at the start of the second period after he wasn't on the bench following intermission. Prior to his departure, he recorded an assist in 1:49 of ice time. It's not yet clear whether his injury will force him to miss additional time.
