  • Martin (undisclosed) signed a one-year contract with the Rangers on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Martin was a key part of the Rangers' bullpen this past season, as he finished the year with a 2.98 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 42.1 innings while adding two saves and 13 holds. Now committed to another year in Arlington, the 39-year-old righty will likely continue to work in a setup role ahead of closer Robert Garcia.

  • Rangers' Chris Martin: Placed on IL
    By RotoWire

The Rangers placed Martin (undisclosed) on the 15-day injured list Friday. It's unclear if Martin's move to the IL is related to the right hand injury he suffered Sept. 14, but the Rangers should provide some clarity in the near future. Either way, he'll remain sidelined for the rest of 2025 and finish the season with a 2.98 ERA and 1.20 WHIP across 42.1 innings. With Cole Winn (undisclosed) also moving to the IL, Texas will promote Jose Corniell and Luis Curvelo from Triple-A to fill the open roster spots.

  • Rangers' Chris Martin: Picks up second win
    By RotoWire

Martin (2-6) allowed a hit and struck out one in one inning to earn the win over the Diamondbacks on Monday. Martin was back on a major-league mound for the first time since July 20 after missing six weeks due to a calf strain. He kept this game tied in the ninth inning -- that's typically usage a closer would see, but Shawn Armstrong got the save in the 10th inning and appears to be the head of a closing committee currently. Martin should still factor into the late-inning mix, but he's been a setup man for much of the year, earning two saves, 12 holds and two blown saves over 40 appearances. He also has a 2.29 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 37:6 K:BB across 35.1 innings.

  • The Rangers activated Martin (calf) from the 15-day injured list Monday. Martin has missed most of the second half with a left calf strain but has been cleared to return after tossing a scoreless inning in a rehab appearance with Double-A Frisco over the weekend. The 39-year-old will re-enter the late-inning mix for the Rangers, potentially even seeing some save chances in September.

  • Martin (calf) will attempt to go through pitchers' fielding practice Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. Martin suffered a setback with his left calf strain last week when he tried going through PFPs, but he will give it another go Wednesday. The veteran reliever has been sidelined for most of the second half and is likely to need at least a couple rehab appearances before being activated, even if things go better for him Wednesday than they did last week.
