Francis lost a no-hitter in the ninth inning for the second time in his last four starts. The right-hander issued just one walk through eight innings before Francisco Lindor smacked a game-tying homer to lead off the ninth. Despite another tough finish, Francis has been spectacular of late. Overall, the 28-year-old Francis is 8-4 on the season with a 3.50 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 82:20 K:BB over 92.2 innings. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Rangers next week in his next start.

It's relatively newfound success for the 28-year-old, as he did little of note in the first half of the campaign. Francis is at a 4.38 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 58:16 K:BB across 63.2 innings over 21 appearances (seven starts) this season. • Francis is listed as the Blue Jays' scheduled starting pitcher for Wednesday's home game against the Orioles, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. Though trade-deadline pickup Ryan Yarbrough could eventually get a look in the Blue Jays rotation, he'll begin his time with Toronto as a reliever, which paves the way for Francis to stick around as the club's No. 5 starter. Francis was called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Monday and proceeded to start in the second game of the Blue Jays' twin bill in Baltimore. He fell just shy of a quality start with three earned runs allowed over 5.2 innings, and he'll head into the rematch with the Orioles with a 5.68 ERA and 1.44 WHIP across 44.1 frames at the big-league level this season.
