• Phillies' Bryson Stott: Affected by sore elbow last season

  The Phillies believe Stott's offense was limited by elbow soreness last season, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. Stott never went on the injured list in 2024, but he evidently dealt with a sore elbow for much of the season that the club believes affected his ability to drive the ball. The numbers back up the theory, as the 27-year-old's regular-season slugging percentage fell from .419 to .356, his home-run total dropped from 15 to 11 and his doubles output dipped from 32 to 19. Stott is expected to be healthy at the start of spring training and could be in line for a bounce-back year at the plate.

  The Phillies and Stott avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.2 million contract Thursday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. Stott gets a nice raise in what was his first year of arbitration eligibility. He regressed to just a .671 OPS in 2024 but remained useful for fantasy managers with 11 home runs and 32 stolen bases.

  Stott is not in the lineup Tuesday for Game 3 of the NLDS against the Mets, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Stott had a big two-run triple as part of a two-hit day in Game 2, but he will begin this one on the bench as the Mets send southpaw Sean Manaea to the bump. Edmundo Sosa will start at second base and bat eighth.

Stott set the tone early in this one, ripping a two-run double in the opening frame to extend the Phillies' lead to 3-0. Stott set a new career high with his 32nd stolen base of the season in the seventh inning, besting last year's total of 31. The 26-year-old speedster owns a modest .246 average with 11 home runs, 56 RBI and 65 runs scored with 32 steals in 35 attempts in 145 games.

  Stott went 0-for-2 with two walks and two stolen bases in Sunday's loss to the Phillies. Stott posted his seventh multi-walk game of the year and just his second such effort since May 14. His multi-steal game was his fifth of the year and brought him up to 31 stolen bases, which ties the career high he set last year. Stott has now reached safely in seven straight games and is slashing .244/.317/.357 with 11 homers, 54 RBI, 62 runs and a 53:91 BB:K in 552 plate appearances.
