  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Rare day off Tuesday

Guerrero is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in St. Louis.

It's a rare day off for Guerrero, whose only other breather this season came back on April 10. The Blue Jays will go with Ernie Clement at first base Tuesday as Guerrero receives some well-deserved rest.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Abraham Toro: Has double-digit on-base streak

Toro started as first base and went 1-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 10-8 extra-innings loss to the Rays.

There was much turmoil caused by Rafael Devers' refusal to play first base and Boston's scrapped experiment with Kristian Campbell to move there, but Toro may have been the answer all along. He's reached base safely in 10 consecutive games, going 17-for-40 (.425) with five doubles, one home run and seven RBI during the streak. Toro is slashing .333/.352/.563 over 25 games for Boston, but it's fair to question if he can sustain that over the long haul.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Swipes bag in win

Schanuel went 2-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Monday's 7-4 win over the Athletics.

Schanuel has hit safely in five of his last six games, going 8-for-24 (.333) with four doubles and six RBI in that span. The steal was just his second of the season, as the first baseman typically doesn't add much speed or power despite steady contact skills. For the year, he's up to a .276/.374/.385 slash line with three home runs, 20 RBI, 34 runs scored, 13 doubles and a triple over 63 contests.

  • LaMonte Wade LF | HOU

Angels' LaMonte Wade: Joining Angels soon

Wade will report to the Angels in the coming days, perhaps as soon as Tuesday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Wade was acquired via trade from the Giants over the weekend and is not eligible to be sent to the minors without being exposed to waivers, so he will go directly onto the big-league roster. It's not clear how much playing time Wade will receive initially, as his primary position, first base, is held down by Nolan Schanuel. Wade has experience in the outfield and could see some action in either left or right.

  • Athletics' Logan Davidson: Sent back to minors

The Athletics optioned Davidson to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

Davidson went 3-for-20 with 12 strikeouts during his brief time with the big club. He's making room on the roster for the return of Nick Kurtz (groin) from the 10-day injured list.

  • Nick Kurtz 1B | ATH

Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Returns from injured list

The Athletics activated Kurtz (hip) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Kurtz has been sidelined since late May with a strained left hip flexor but is ready to roll after homering in his lone rehab game. The rookie first baseman has collected a .762 OPS with five long balls over 28 contests with the Athletics this season.

  • Ryan Noda 1B | BAL

Red Sox's Ryan Noda: Booted off 40-man roster

The Red Sox designated Noda for assignment Monday.

The transaction frees a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Roman Anthony. Noda was acquired from the Angels via trade in late May and has slashed .378/.519/.703 with three homers and a 12:12 K:BB in 13 games with Triple-A Worcester. There could be some interest in Noda on waivers.

  • Nick Kurtz 1B | ATH

Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Rakes in rehab game

Kurtz (hip) went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk and three RBI in a rehab game with Single-A Stockton on Saturday.

Kurtz showed off his well-known power with a two-run home run that landed on the right-field porch. The 22-year-old is expected to be activated from the Athletics' 10-day injured list Monday, assuming he came out of Saturday's rehab game without any setbacks with his left hip. Before being shelved May 27, the first baseman slashed .245/.315/.447 with five home runs and 15 RBI in 28 games with the big club.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Abraham Toro: Collects three hits against NYY

Toro went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an RBI double, an additional double and an additional run scored during Sunday's 11-7 win over the Yankees.

Toro and Trevor Story swatted back-to-back solo home runs during the eighth inning of Sunday's victory. Toro added a pair of doubles to complete the monster game and notched his fourth straight multi-hit performance. Since the start of June, Toro is 12-for-28 (.429) with five runs and five RBI over seven games.

  • LaMonte Wade LF | HOU

Angels' LaMonte Wade: Dealt to Angels

Wade was traded to the Angels on Sunday for a player to be named later or cash, while the deal also included cash heading to Los Angeles, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Wade was designated for assignment by the Giants on Tuesday after posting a disappointing .167 average with one home run and 35 strikeouts over 144 at-bats in 50 games with the team this year. The lefty bat has proven to be more than serviceable in the past, producing a .258 average with 25 long balls, 79 RBI, 109 runs scored and four stolen bases over 760 at-bats between 2023 and 2024 with San Francisco. Wade will now look to emulate those numbers with the Angels, though it's unclear if he'll report to their major-league roster or head to Triple-A Salt Lake.
