  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Twins' Donovan Solano: Gets MRI on knee

Solano is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers after undergoing an MRI on his sprained right knee, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The Twins are still waiting on the results of Solano's MRI, so until the team learns more about the severity of his injury, he'll be considered day-to-day. Solano, who made his third straight start at first base in Tuesday's 6-0 loss, went 1-for-2 at the dish before departing from the game when he injured the ankle while running the bases in the third inning. Joey Gallo came off the bench to pinch run for Solano and will draw the start at first base Wednesday.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Tallies four more hits

Diaz went 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over St. Louis.

Diaz is now 7-for-9 in his last two games while batting .424 (14-for-33) with two homers and a 1.153 OPS over his last eight contests. Diaz's average is up to .322 for the season, fourth best in the league, with a .917 OPS, 16 home runs, 68 runs scored and 56 RBI across 419 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Opens scoring Tuesday

Mountcastle went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Astros.

Mountcastle extended his hitting streak to 10 games with the first-inning blast. In that span, he's gone 17-for-36 (.472) with two homers, nine RBI and seven runs scored. The first baseman's surge has him up to a .266/.307/.471 slash line with 14 long balls, 51 RBI, 47 runs scored and three stolen bases through 82 contests. He's seeing everyday playing time between first base and designated hitter, sharing both positions primarily with Ryan O'Hearn.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Twins' Donovan Solano: Exits with injury

Solano was removed from Tuesday's game against Detroit with a right knee sprain, Audra Martin of Bally Sports North reports.

Solano appeared to jam his right ankle after making an awkward slide back into first base, but the issue is now confirmed to be in his knee. There's no word yet on how severe Solano's injury is, but more information will likely come in the near future. For now, he should be considered day-to-day.

  • Astros' Jon Singleton: Selected to MLB roster

The Astros selected Singleton's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Singleton had slashed .333/.446/.692 with 12 home runs and 28 RBI through 33 games this summer for Sugar Land. He is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Orioles and could struggle to carve out regular playing time, but the 31-year-old should be a useful bat off the bench. He last appeared in a major-league game for the Astros way back in 2015, but he did suit up for 11 games with the Brewers earlier this season and produced a .103/.188/.138 slash line across 32 plate appearances over 11 games.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Swats homer in win

Vaughn went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Monday's 5-1 win against the Yankees.

Vaughn gave Chicago an early lead with a two-run shot off Gerrit Cole in the second inning, and the Yankees never managed to catch up. The long ball extended Vaughn's modest hitting streak to five games, during which he has slashed .412/.412/.824 with a pair of homers and three RBI. The first baseman is up to 15 home runs on the campaign, two shy of the career-high mark he set last season.

  • Astros' Jon Singleton: Set to be recalled Tuesday

Singleton is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

It has been eight years since Singleton last played for the Astros, but it appears he will get a chance to show what he can do at the top level for the first time since rejoining Houston in late June. Singleton appeared in 11 big-league games with the Brewers earlier this year but posted just a .326 OPS.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Homers in Sunday's loss

Arias went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the White Sox.

Arias has gone 10-for-33 (.303) over his last nine games, but the arrival of Brayan Rocchio has created some competition for playing time at shortstop. There will likely be a short-term solution when Jose Ramirez serves his suspension for a fistfight with Tim Anderson on Saturday, but Arias could ultimately find himself on the short side of a platoon in the long run. Arias is slashing .202/.296/.329 with five homers, 10 RBI, 18 runs scored and a stolen base over 196 plate appearances.

  • Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN

Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Gets cortisone shot in shoulder

Kirilloff recently received a cortisone shot for his strained right shoulder, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

He will rest for a few days in order to let the shot take effect before then ramping back up his baseball activities. Kirilloff is a week removed from landing on the 10-day injured list with a shoulder issue which had been bothering him for about a week. He's eligible for activation Wednesday but clearly is going to need more time than that to make a full recovery.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Lone bright spot in defeat

Casas went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss against Toronto.

The fourth-inning blast was the lone run in an otherwise dismal performance for the slumping Red Sox. Following a rough first half, Casas has turned it on since the All-Star break, hitting eight home runs and batting .355 over 20 games.
