Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN
Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Starts swinging bat
Kirilloff (shoulder) has been swinging a bat and will be evaluated for a possible rehab assignment early next week, The Athletic reports.
Kirilloff received a cortisone shot for his strained right shoulder in early August. It sounds like he could return in early September if he continues to make progress.

Matt Beaty 1B | KC
Royals' Matt Beaty: Playing time picks up
Beaty will start at first base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
Beaty will be rewarded with his fourth start in five games after recording a pair of base hits and scoring a run in Tuesday's 10-8 loss. With Nick Pratto (groin) still stuck on the injured list and with Edward Olivares having recently been optioned to Triple-A Omaha, the lefty-hitting Beaty could be in store for steady playing time versus right-handed pitching.

Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE
Guardians' Kole Calhoun: Out against southpaw
Calhoun is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
With starts in each of the last six games, Calhoun appears to have emerged as the Guardians' primary first baseman in place of the injured Josh Naylor (oblique). However, the lefty-hitting Calhoun will head to the bench Wednesday while the Guardians play matchups and turn to the right-handed-hitting Gabriel Arias to pick up the start at first base versus southpaw Andrew Abbott.

Ty France 1B | SD
Mariners' Ty France: Four-hit breakout Tuesday
France went 4-for-6 with a two-run single, a double and a solo home run in an extra-inning win over the Royals on Tuesday.
France authored his first four-hit effort of the season and third multi-hit tally in the last six games in the extra-inning victory, which he sealed with his 10th-inning base knock. The veteran infielder has now left the yard in three of the last 10 contests as well, a stretch during which he's produced a .333 average, 1.117 OPS and tiny 7.5 percent strikeout rate across 40 plate appearances.

Luke Raley RF | SEA
Rays' Luke Raley: Shifts to bench Wednesday
Raley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.
Harold Ramirez will enter the Tampa Bay starting nine at designated hitter while Raley retreats to the bench for the second time in the series. Raley has maintained a modest .626 OPS since the All-Star break, but he still appears to be locked into a near-everyday role against right-handed pitching while serving as a DH or playing the corner outfield.

Spencer Torkelson 1B | DET
Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Cranks 19th home run
Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Twins.
Torkelson is showing some progress in his second MLB campaign, as he's now up to 19 home runs, including four this month in 13 games. He's still batting only .228, so there's some room for growth to become a more consistent hitter who isn't as boom or bust. Torkelson should remain a lineup staple the rest of this season for the rebuilding Tigers, and 2024 could be his true breakout year if he continues to develop.

C.J. Cron 1B | BOS
Angels' C.J. Cron: Good to go Tuesday
Cron (back) is starting at first base and batting cleanup Tuesday against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Cron sat out the past two games due to back tightness but will rejoin the starting nine Tuesday at Texas. The 33-year-old has struggled to a .523 OPS in 13 games since being acquired from the Rockies ahead of the trade deadline.

Jonathan Aranda 1B | TB
Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Rejoins big club
Aranda was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Aranda has played in just four games across his two stints in the majors this season, going 3-for-15 with a double, two RBI and two runs. Manuel Margot (elbow) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Ryan O'Hearn RF | PIT
Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Slugs 10th homer
O'Hearn went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Monday in a 4-1 victory versus the Padres.
O'Hearn plated the first run of the contest with a 343-foot solo shot to right field in the second inning. The long ball was his 10th of the campaign, marking the first time since 2019 that he's notched double-digit homers. O'Hearn has already recorded a career-best 40 RBI over 237 plate appearances this season.
