  • Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Set to miss extended time

X-rays on Aranda's wrist came back negative after he exited Thursday's game against the Yankees, but he is still expected to miss several weeks, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Aranda got good news in that he won't be out for the rest of the season, with the team instead aiming for a return in September. He is expected to undergo further imaging Friday, which should provide a clearer timeline for his potential return.

  • Blaine Crim 1B | COL

Rangers' Blaine Crim: Bumped from 40-man roster

Crim was designated for assignment by the Rangers on Thursday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Crim made his very brief big-league debut in early May but has spent nearly the entire 2025 season with Triple-A Round Rock. He maintained a 119 wRC+ at the level, though he is in his age-28 season. His production could be enough to entice a team to claim him on waivers.

  • Curtis Mead 3B | CHW

White Sox's Curtis Mead: Shipped to South Siders

The White Sox acquired Mead and right-handers Duncan Davitt and Ben Peoples from the Rays on Thursday in exchange for right-hander Adrian Houser, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

The Rays optioned Mead to Triple-A Durham shortly before the All-Star break, but he should quickly earn a look in the big leagues while he moves over to a last-place White Sox squad that's lacking in infielder talent. The 24-year-old is capable of playing first base, third base and second base and slashed .226/.318/.339 with three home runs and four steals over 132 plate appearances for Tampa Bay prior to his demotion.

  • Ty France 1B | TOR

Blue Jays' Ty France: Heading to Toronto

The Blue Jays acquired France and Louis Varland from the Twins on Thursday in exchange for Alan Roden and Kendry Rojas, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

France has been more of a part-time lineup presence for the Twins lately, but the organization still found a way to offload him at the deadline. The 31-year-old has a .251/.320/.357 slash line in 101 games this season and isn't likely to have a significant role with the first-place Blue Jays.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Hot hitting during rehab assignment

Mountcastle (hamstring) has gone 8-for-19 (.421) with two home runs, three doubles and six RBI over five games during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk.

After spending two months on the shelf due to a right hamstring strain, Mountcastle appears to be on the verge of being activated from the injured list. The 28-year-old slugger is expected to spend the weekend in the minor leagues to wrap up his assignment, and the Orioles are likely to reinstate him ahead of Monday's series opener in Philadelphia if all goes well. Mountcastle should return to his role as Baltimore's primary first baseman upon his return, which would shift Ryan O'Hearn back into the outfield, and it remains to be seen how much playing time Coby Mayo will see down the stretch. That outlook could change depending on what the Orioles do ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, however.

  • Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Leaves contest with wrist injury

Aranda was lifted from Thursday's game against the Yankees in the fifth inning with an apparent left wrist injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

He was playing first base when a throw from Junior Caminero took Aranda up the line. Aranda's hand collided with the midsection of Giancarlo Stanton -- who was trying to beat out an infield single -- and Aranda immediately fell to the ground in pain. He is likely to undergo tests, and the Rays could have more on his status after the game. Aranda went 1-for-2 with an RBI single in his two plate appearances before exiting.

  • Ryan Noda 1B | BAL

White Sox's Ryan Noda: Activated, optioned to Triple-A

The White Sox reinstated Noda (quadriceps) from the injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.

Noda had been on the shelf since July 7 with a right quad strain, though he had been on a rehab assignment with Charlotte for the past week. During his assignment, the 29-year-old went 2-for-19 with a home run, two RBI, four runs scored and eight strikeouts. He'll stay put in Triple-A now that he's fully healthy, and the White Sox will move forward with Miguel Vargas as their main first baseman.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Swats homer in defeat

Schanuel went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Wednesday in a loss to the Rangers.

Schanuel brought the Angels to within three runs with his two-run blast in the eighth inning, but those were the final runs either team would score. The first baseman isn't known for his power, and Wednesday's long ball was his first over his past 22 contests. Schanuel is at nine home runs on the season after going deep 13 times across 147 games in his first full MLB campaign last year.

  • Rays' Hunter Feduccia: Traded to Tampa Bay

The Rays acquired Feduccia on Wednesday in a three-team trade with the Reds and Dodgers, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Feduccia has performed well in Triple-A this season with a .287/.398/.460 slash line through 329 plate appearances, but he was unlikely to spend a lot of time in the majors with Will Smith and Dalton Rushing already on the Dodgers. The path to playing time is much more favorable in Tampa Bay, as the Rays' catcher room currently consists of Nick Fortes (.632 OPS) and Matt Thaiss (.638 OPS).

  • Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: Sitting against righty Wednesday

Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Goldschmidt has faded into more of a part-time role of late, as he'll hit the bench for the fourth time in the Yankees' last seven matchups with a right-handed starting pitcher. Ben Rice will get the call at first base Wednesday while the Rays send righty Zack Littell to the hill.
