Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Out again Friday
Schanuel (leg) isn't in the Angels' lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Schanuel will sit down for the second game in a row after exiting Wednesday's game early with a bruised right lower leg. Niko Kavadas will fill in as Los Angeles' first baseman and bat eighth Friday.

Justin Turner 1B | SEA
Mariners' Justin Turner: Absent from Friday's lineup
Turner is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against Oakland, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Turner will begin Friday's contest on the bench while Cal Raleigh serves as the designated hitter and bats second. Turner has reached base safely in 24 straight starts, and since Sept. 1 he's slashed .293/.391/.440 with 13 runs scored, two home runs and eight RBI across 92 plate appearances.

Jonathan Singleton 1B | HOU
Astros' Jon Singleton: Not facing lefty
Singleton is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Cleveland.
The lefty-hitting Singleton will take a seat Friday against southpaw Joey Cantillo and the Guardians. In his place, Victor Caratini will play first base and bat fifth.

Zach Dezenzo SS | HOU
Astros' Zach Dezenzo: Summoned from minors
The Astros recalled Dezenzo from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
He's taking the roster spot vacated by fellow rookie Shay Whitcomb, who was sent down. Dezenzo has slashed only .212/.255/.308 with one home run in 17 games with the Astros this season. It's possible he'll get a little playing time versus lefties over the final weekend.

Andrew Vaughn 1B | CHW
White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Logs three hits
Vaughn went 3-for-4 with a two-RBI single and a run scored during Thursday's 7-0 win over the Angels.
All seven runs scored by the ChiSox came in the fifth inning, and Vaughn started the scoring by plating Dominic Fletcher and Miguel Vargas on an RBI single. Vaughn came around to score in the frame on a Lenyn Sosa double. In September, Vaughn is 25-for-78 (.320) with four home runs, 10 RBI and seven runs.

Ryan Mountcastle 1B | BAL
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Not starting Thursday
Mountcastle isn't in Baltimore's lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.
Mountcastle has recorded a hit in both games he's played in since returning from the injured list Tuesday. He'll get a chance to rest Thursday while Ryan O'Hearn starts at first base and Adley Rutschman serves as the DH, putting James McCann behind the plate.

Justin Turner 1B | SEA
Mariners' Justin Turner: Extends impressive on-base streak
Turner went 1-for-5 with a two-run single in a win over the Astros on Wednesday, extending his on-base streak to 20 games.
Turner has also reached safely in 24 straight starts, and he owns a .302/.396/.500 slash line with a 14.2 percent walk rate and 17.0 percent strikeout rate over that span. Those numbers are reminiscent of vintage Turner from the pinnacle of his career with the Dodgers, and his contributions have played an integral part in keeping the Mariners in contention for an AL wild-card spot.

Vinnie Pasquantino 1B | KC
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Takes batting practice
Pasquantino (thumb) took batting practice on the field Thursday, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.
Pasquantino is just over three weeks removed from surgery to repair a fractured right thumb, a procedure which carried a projected 6-to-8 week timetable. That he's already taking what looked to be full swings in batting practice seems to suggest he has a shot to beat that timeline, although the Royals would need to qualify for the postseason and probably advance at least one round in order for Pasquantino to become a realistic option.

Niko Kavadas 1B | LAA
Angels' Niko Kavadas: Playing time continues to slip
Kavadas is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest against the White Sox.
For the second straight day and third time in four games, Kavadas is not in the lineup versus a right-hander. Angels manager Ron Washington has leaned more towards having both of his catchers in the lineup lately, with one of them behind the plate and the other serving as the designated hitter. In Thursday's series finale, it will be Logan O'Hoppe catching and Matt Thaiss at DH.
