  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Fills in for idle Abreu

Vaughn started at first base for the resting Jose Abreu and went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 3-0 win over Detroit.

Vaughn started at first base for the fifth time this season. Leading up to the regular season, he was expected to be the primary designated hitter, but an injury to Eloy Jimenez (pectoral) created a need in left field, which is where the bulk of his playing time has come and that should continue to be the case. A new wrinkle, however, is that Adam Engel was finally activated off the injured list Sunday, which could cause some playing time adjustments in the outfield. Vaughn, Engel, Leury Garcia and Billy Hamilton (oblique) all are in need of at-bats.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Socks two-run bomb

Diaz went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Sunday's win over the Rangers.

Diaz extended his hitting streak to four games and also blasted his first two long ball of the campaign in the ninth inning off reliever Brett Martin. The infielder is hitting .253 on the season and is clearly trending in the right direction of late.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Three-hit effort Sunday

Mountcastle went 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's 18-5 blowout win over Cleveland.

The 24-year-old scored all three times he got on base. Mountcastle had an RBI single in the fourth inning and an RBI double in the sixth. He's been hot since the start of June, and he's now hit safely in six straight games. In that span, he's gone 11-for-24 (.458) with four home runs, 10 RBI and seven runs scored.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Working toward rehab assignment

Manager Aaron Boone mentioned June 15 as a potential date for Voit (oblique) to begin a rehab assignment, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

Voit participated in some fielding work Friday and is continuing to progress toward a mid-June rehab assignment. The slugger, who was placed on the 10-day IL on May 26, will likely need to make multiple appearances in the minors before he's ready to rejoin the Yankees lineup. With all that being considered, he remains on track for a late-June return.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: On base five times in win

Gurriel went 3-for-3 with two walks, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 6-3 win over Toronto.

All three of Gurriel's hits were singles, and the third one knocked in Alex Bregman in the eighth inning. The impressive effort at the plate continued a budding hot streak -- Gurriel has gone 9-for-14 with three walks in the last four games. The infielder is slashing .325/.397/.528 with eight home runs, 41 RBI and 27 runs scored through 229 plate appearances overall.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Gets rest Sunday

Abreu is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Abreu will get a long-awaited day off Sunday, with Andrew Vaughn set to move to first base for the series finale against Detroit. Abreu is expected back in the lineup Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

  • Chris Gittens 1B | HOU

Yankees' Chris Gittens: Hitless in big-league debut

Gittens went 0-for-3 with a walk in Saturday's loss to Boston.

The 27-year-old was called up to the big club earlier in the day, and Gittens was immediately inserted into the starting lineup to handle first base. He failed to reach base in his initial three plate appearances before drawing a walk in the ninth inning. Gittens isn't expected to take on an everyday role, but he should get occasional starts while Luke Voit (oblique) remains on the injured list.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Doubles in return

Vaughn went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Tigers.

Vaughn was activated from the COVID-19 protocols list and started in left field against left-hander Tarik Skubal. Jake Lamb has been given a steady stream of at-bats recently as the left fielder against righties and has hit well (.393 last 10 games). Lamb's batting surge could limit Vaughn's usage to left-handers only.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Athletics' Matt Olson: Slams 15th homer

Olson went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run in a 6-3 victory over Colorado on Saturday.

The first baseman put the Athletics on the board in the first inning, smashing a 403-foot shot with a runner aboard. The long ball extended his current hit streak to five games, during which Olson has gone 10-for-20 with eight RBI and five extra-base hits. He is tied for sixth in the league with 15 homers on the season.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Smashes sixth homer

Dalbec went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Yankees.

Dalbec provided an extra cushion for Boston, capping off a four-run rally in the eighth inning. The first baseman entered Saturday in a rut, having gone 2-for-23 in the previous eight games. He has a paltry .199/.248/.384 slash line with six homers, 24 RBI and 12 runs scored through 161 plate appearances this year. He's split time at first base with Danny Santana and Marwin Gonzalez in recent games.
