Yuli Gurriel DH | SD
Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Off to white-hot start
Gurriel went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's 9-2 win over Oakland.
Gurriel's .179 spring-training batting average has given way to a hot start in the regular season. Perhaps that's why he was raised from seventh to fifth in the batting order Sunday, although Michael Brantley's wrist injury may have played a role as well. The first basemen is 7-for-15 with a home run and three RBI over the first four games.

Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL
White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Starting Monday, Tuesday
Vaughn will start Monday and Tuesday against left-handers, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Vaughn, who was held out of Sunday's series finale against the Angels, has started two of the first four games. One game facing a left-hander and one a right-hander. He may eventually settle into a primary role at DH, but the White Sox have rolled with the uber-hot Yermin Mercedes as designated hitter the last three games.

Nate Lowe 1B | CIN
Rangers' Nate Lowe: Mashes three-run homer
Lowe went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Royals.
Lowe opened the scoring with his third-inning homer. It was his first long ball of the season. The 25-year-old worked as the designated hitter Sunday, but he's also the Rangers' primary first baseman to begin the year. Lowe went 5-for-14 (.357) with a homer, nine RBI and two runs scored in the three-game series against the Royals. He also struck out five times and didn't draw a walk. Plate discipline could be a factor later in the year if he starts to slump.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B | TOR
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Goes deep against Yankees
Guerrero went 1-for-4 with a home run in Sunday's win over the Yankees.
Guerrero has hit safely in his three games to date, but this one was his most impactful performance since he went deep for the first time in 2021. The slugging infielder has scratched the surface of his potential in his first two years in the majors, but he seems primed to take a huge leap forward in 2021.

Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL
White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Left out of lineup
Vaughn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.
He'll be sitting for the second time in the four-game series while the White Sox hand a start to Billy Hamilton in left field and the hot-hitting Yermin Mercedes at designated hitter. Vaughn is still looking for his first hit after going 0-for-6 with a walk and three strikeouts over his first two big-league games.

Yandy Diaz 1B | TB
Rays' Yandy Diaz: Plates pair in loss
Diaz went 2-for-3 with a two-run double and a run in a loss to the Marlins on Saturday.
The burly infielder's fifth-inning two-bagger snapped a 4-4 tie and gave Diaz his first first two RBI of the season. Through three games, the 29-year-old has shown encouraging signs of carrying over his strong spring work at the plate, collecting three hits overall and striking out only once.
-
Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Heads to bench
Tellez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.
Tellez started at designated hitter in each of the Blue Jays' first two games, going 0-for-8. Though the lefty-hitting Tellez will be sitting against a right-hander (Domingo German) in the series finale, the 26-year-old should still have a fairly clear path to regular at-bats while George Springer (oblique) is on the injured list. Joe Panik will spell Tellez at DH on Sunday.

Ty France 1B | SD
Mariners' Ty France: Still wielding hot bat
France is 2-for-6 with a double, an RBI, three walks and two runs across the first two games of the regular season.
France has been on base multiple times each of his first two games, carrying over his hot hitting from a Cactus League slate during which he slugged five home runs and drove in 11 runs across 19 games. The 26-year-old is locked into a full-time designated hitter role and can also fill in at multiple spots in the infield, guaranteeing him secure playing time to open the season..

Evan White 1B | LAA
Mariners' Evan White: Plates pair in loss
White went 1-for-4 with a two-run single in a loss to the Giants on Friday.
White's clutch piece of third-inning hitting snapped a 1-1 tie and gave the 24-year-old hits in each of his first two games to open the campaign. It's an encouraging start for White, who finished Cactus League play strong and is looking to bounce back from his anemic .176/.252/.346 line across 202 plate appearances as a rookie in 2020.
