  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

    Yankees' Luke Voit: Catches breather

Voit isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Voit will head to the bench after collecting a pair of base knocks, including a double, in Monday's matchup with Boston. Mike Ford starts at first base and will hit seventh.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Twins' C.J. Cron: Receives day off

Cron isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Cron was also held out of Sunday's matchup, and following Monday's scheduled off day, he's in line for a third straight day of rest. Willians Astudillo gets the nod at first base and is set to bat seventh.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Goes through workout Monday

Gurriel (hamstring), who is not in the lineup Monday against the Athletics, ran at 85 percent and fielded grounders during pregame warmups, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Gurriel is expected to repeat that pregame routine Tuesday before the Astros determine his availability for the remainder of the team's series vs. Oakland. Aledmys Diaz is once again starting at first base for the 35-year-old, who has been sidelined since Friday with left hamstring discomfort.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Smashes solo homer

Abreu went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and three walks in a 5-1 victory against the Angels on Sunday.

This was a great day for the on-base percentage, as Abreu reached base four times for the first time since he recorded four hits on Aug. 28. Abreu hasn't walked much this year (.331 on-base percentage), so three free passes in one contest is quite a lot for him. He is hitting .283 with 31 home runs, 112 RBI, 71 runs and two steals in 558 at-bats this season.

  • Tigers' Brandon Dixon: Losing work to Candelario

Dixon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Dixon will be on the bench for the fourth time in seven games and looks to have moved into a part-time role with Jeimer Candelario having recently taken over as Detroit's primary first baseman. Though Dixon leads the Tigers with 15 home runs on the season, the impact of his power production has been muted by a .290 on-base percentage and a 32.7 percent strikeout rate.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Testing hamstring Monday

Gurriel will test his hamstring Monday with the goal of returning to the lineup Tuesday or Wednesday versus the Athletics, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Gurriel exited Friday's game against the Mariners with left hamstring discomfort and has been shut down for the weekend. Aledmys Diaz has covered for him at first base, but it doesn't sound as though he's expected to miss too many more games.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Twins' C.J. Cron: Heads to bench

Cron is not starting Sunday against Cleveland, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Cron owns a solid .250/.321/.563 slash line over his last 13 games, hitting four homers over that stretch. Ehire Adrianza will get the start at first base in his absence.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Reaches 30-100 club

Abreu went 1-for-1 with a home run and four RBI in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the Angels.

Abreu was also hit by pitches twice and had a sacrifice fly in the game. The home run was his 30th of the season, and he became the fourth White Sox player to record at least four seasons with 30 home runs and 100 RBI, joining Frank Thomas (eight times), Paul Konerko (five) and Magglio Ordonez (four). The four RBI vaulted him to the top of the AL with 111 runs driven in.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Athletics' Matt Olson: Matches career high in homers

Olson went 4-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, two runs, and a walk in Saturday's 10-2 win over the Tigers.

The monster night began as Olson scored the tying run in the fourth inning on a Ramon Laureano single. He then homered off Tigers starter Jordan Zimmermann in the fifth inning and added his two-run single in the sixth. The first baseman is on a 10-game hitting streak, batting .390 (16-for-41) with three homers, seven RBI and 10 runs scored in that span. For the year, Olson is slashing .275/.359/.544, matching his career high with 29 homers and adding 73 RBI and 61 runs in 108 games.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Needs a few days

Gurriel (hamstring) won't play this weekend and needs a few more days to recover, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Gurriel is dealing with hamstring discomfort, an injury which forced him to leave Friday's game against the Mariners. Aledmys Diaz starts in his place at first base Saturday and appears to be in line for at least another start or two.
