Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Week away from running

Kurtz (hamstring) is expected to begin running the bases June 7, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Kurtz suffered a hamstring injury May 25 while running the bases. It sounds like his return from the injured list may not come until later in June, as he'll likely need a rehab stint after he is able to run full speed again.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Guardians' Carlos Santana: Belts seventh home run

Santana went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Angels.

Santana tied things up at 5-5 in the seventh inning when he took Ryan Zeferjahn deep to right field for a solo home run. It was Santana's seventh home run of the season, five of which came in May. He'll end the month with a .994 OPS, 18 runs scored and 22 RBI across 100 plate appearances.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Drives in lone run Saturday

Pasquantino went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in Saturday's 1-0 win over Detroit.

Pasquantino was responsible for the game's lone run in the eighth inning, when he smacked a single to left field that brought Nick Loftin home. Pasquantino will end the month of May with a .330/.375/.464 slash line with three doubles, four home runs and 13 RBI in 120 plate appearances.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

    Twins' Ty France: Sitting Saturday

France is not in Minnesota's starting lineup against Seattle on Saturday.

France is in the midst of an eight-game hitting streak, going 9-for-32 (.281) with one home run and seven RBI over that span. He'll begin Saturday's game in the dugout while Kody Clemens starts at first base and bats seventh.

  • Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Sitting Saturday

Aranda is not in the Rays' starting lineup against the Astros on Saturday, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

The lefty-hitting Aranda was in the Rays' lineup against Houston southpaw Framber Valdez on Friday, going 1-for-3 with a strikeout. Aranda will begin Saturday's contest on the bench while Yandy Diaz starts at first base and Danny Jansen starts behind home plate against left-hander Colton Gordon. Aranda is in the midst of a six-game hitting streak and has gone 10-for-21 with one home run and seven RBI over that span.

  • Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: Goes deep in loss Friday

Goldschmidt went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Friday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Goldschmidt clubbed the final of four early home runs for New York, swatting a solo shot in the third inning. The long ball snapped a 12-game stretch without a homer for the veteran slugger, though he hit well during that span, batting .350 with a 6:5 BB:K. Goldschmidt has a modest six home runs on the season, putting him on pace to finish below 20 for the first time since the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign, but he's otherwise been plenty productive with a .343 batting average (fourth best in the majors) and .901 OPS.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Lands on IL

The Orioles placed Mountcastle on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right hamstring strain.

Mountcastle had to make an early exit from Friday's contest due to a hamstring issue, and imaging later revealed a strain. While the 28-year-old is out, Coby Mayo will come up from the minors to fill the open spot on the active roster.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Abraham Toro: Stays hot in win

Toro started at first base and went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 5-1 win over Atlanta.

First base has been chaotic since Triston Casas (knee) suffered a season-ending injury, but Toro has made a case for himself. He's gone 14-for-42 (.333) with three home runs, four doubles, five RBI and seven runs scored over the last 12 games. However, the Red Sox intend to experiment with Kristian Campbell at first base for at least one game during this weekend's series in Atlanta.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: On base streak at 30 games

Guerrero went 1-for-3 with three walks, a run scored and an RBI in Friday's win over the A's.

Athletics pitchers issued 11 free passes in total on the night, while every Blue Jays hitter collected at least one hit, leading to an 11-7 victory. Guerrero has reached base safely in an impressive 30 straight games, slashing .288/.407/.468 over that span with six homers, 14 RBI and 23 runs.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Tweaks right hamstring

Mountcastle was removed from Friday's game against the White Sox due to right hamstring discomfort, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Mountcastle went 2-for-3 with a steal and a run scored prior to being replaced in the eighth inning, with Cooper Hummel entering in right field while Ryan O'Hearn shifted over to first base. Mountcastle will undergo further tests and the Orioles should provide an update on his injury during or shortly after Friday's contest.
