    Chris Carter homers in loss

    Astros outfielder Chris Carter homered for the sixth time in Tuesday's loss to the Yankees.

    Carter has lived up to his billing as a one-dimensional power hitter so far. He's slugging a robust .454 but has just a .227 batting average and .303 on-base percentage. He struck out two more times Tuesday night and has now whiffed in a league-leading 46 of his 97 at-bats.

    Carlos Santana reaches base four times vs. Phillies

    Indians catcher Carlos Santana hit his fifth home run of the season Tuesday night against the Phillies.

    Santana hit a two-run shot in the first inning off starter Roy Halladay. He finished 1 for 2 with three walks, a run scored and two RBI in a 14-2 victory.

    Santana has gone 6 for 10 with four walks, three runs scored, a home run and four RBI in his last four games. He is hitting .389 in 72 at-bats.

  • Asdrubal Cabrera's average on the rise

    Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera had a productive day at the plate during Sunday's doubleheader against the Royals. He collected three hits in Game 1 before finishing 2 for 5 with a RBI and run scored in the nightcap.

    Cabrera has now collected six hits over his 13 at-bats since returning to the lineup from a quadriceps injury and raised his average from .156 to .208 over that span.

    Carlos Santana's average climbs to .388

    Indians catcher Carlos Santana collected a couple of hits in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Royals and had an even better performance in the nightcap. He went 4 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored in the 10-3 win. All four of his hits went for singles.

    Santana finished the day 6 for 9, raising his average from .345 to .388.

  • Chris Colabello thriving at Triple-A

    Twins first base prospect Chris Colabello is batting .301 through 23 games for Triple-A Rochester. Colabello also has four doubles, six home runs, 11 runs and 17 RBI, which has helped him produce a .358 on-base percentage, .566 slugging percentage and .924 OPS.

    Colabello was one of the players featured in this week's Five on the Farm portion of the Down on the Farm prospects column.

    The Astros gave outfielder Chris Carter a rest Sunday in Boston against John Lackey and the Red Sox. Carter has been seeing everyday playing time. 

    He went 0 for 4 on Saturday at Boston and has gone 5 for 22 (.227) over his last six games with a homer and two RBI. Carter has played in 24 games this season with five home runs and 12 RBI. He's batting .216.

    Indians catcher Carlos Santana played for the first time since Monday against the Royals Saturday night. After missing time with an illness, he went 1 for 4 with a single in the 3-2 loss.

    The 27-year-old is batting .345 with four home runs and nine RBI.

  • Asdrubal Cabrera returns with base hit

    After missing two games with right quadriceps soreness, Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera returned Saturday against the Royals. He went 1 for 4 with a single in the 3-2 loss.

    Cabrera is batting .162 with two homers, five RBI and a stolen base.

    Indians catcher Carlos Santana is back in the Indians lineup Friday, Newsradio WTAM reports.

    Santana has been out of the lineup since April 22 due to an illness. Expect him to return to an everyday role (or very close). Santana is hitting .352/.435/.704 with four home runs and seven doubles in 54 at-bats.

  • Asdrubal Cabrera back in Indians lineup

    Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera is back in the lineup Friday against Kansas City, Newsradio WTAM reports.

    Cabrera has been out since April 22 with quadriceps soreness. In 17 games, the 27-year-old is hitting just .156/.229/.281 with 19 strikeouts.
