  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Sitting out nightcap Wednesday

Votto isn't in the Reds' lineup for the second half of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Angels, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Left-hander Reid Detmers will take the mound for Los Angeles, so Votto will retreat to the bench for the start of Wednesday's nightcap. Christian Encarnacion-Strand will start at first base, and Spencer Steer will serve as the Reds' DH.

  • Michael Toglia 1B | COL

Rockies' Michael Toglia: Takes seat Wednesday

Toglia is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Tampa Bay.

Toglia slugged a home run in Tuesday's loss to the Rays but will begin Wednesday's contest on the bench. Charlie Blackmon is getting a start in right field and Jurickson Profar will be in the designated hitter spot while Toglia sits.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | TEX

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Absent from lineup again

Tellez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Tellez started in both of the Brewers' first two games after he was reinstated injured list over the weekend, but the lefty-hitting first baseman/designated hitter has now been on the bench for the last two contests even as the Brewers have faced right-handers on both occasions. He was also removed for a pinch hitter in his first game back. Tellez should still ultimately see plenty of starts in the DH spot for Milwaukee, but perhaps not enough for him to be a viable mixed-league option outside of the deepest leagues. William Contreras is in the DH spot Wednesday, with Victor Caratini catching.

  • Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL

Pirates' Alfonso Rivas: Idle against lefty

Rivas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The lefty-hitting Rivas will give way to platoon mate Connor Joe at first base while southpaw Zack Thompson toes the rubber for St. Louis. Since being acquired from the Padres on Aug. 1, Rivas has struggled to a .186/.308/.395 batting line thus far during his time in Pittsburgh.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | TEX

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: On bench Tuesday

Tellez is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Twins.

Tellez is being eased back into action after returning Saturday from a six-week IL stint to heal a bout of right forearm inflammation. Mark Canha will serve as the Brewers' designated hitter Tuesday versus Minnesota as Carlos Santana covers first base.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | ATL

Nationals' Dominic Smith: Sitting against lefty

Smith is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Yankees.

Joey Meneses is playing first base and Keibert Ruiz will take a turn as the Nationals' designated hitter with left-hander Carlos Rodon set to toe the slab for New York. Riley Adams is doing the catching. Smith, 28, has slashed just .246/.307/.268 in 150 plate appearances this year versus southpaws.

  • Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Not in lineup Tuesday

Montero is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Rays.

Montero had a productive weekend against the White Sox, going 5-for-10 with two doubles, a triple and five RBI in three games, but he'll grab some rest during Tuesday's series opener at Tampa Bay. Michael Toglia is starting at first base and Jurickson Profar will serve as the Rockies' designated hitter.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Homers in Monday's loss

Wade (back) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 10-4 loss to the Phillies.

Wade's absence was limited to one game as he battles recurring back soreness that has bothered him a handful of times over recent weeks. He endured an 0-for-16 slump over six games recently, but he's 3-for-8 with a pair of homers over his last two contests. For the season, he's at a .259/.383/.421 slash line with 13 homers, 35 RBI, 51 runs scored, 14 doubles and two stolen bases over 108 contests.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Marlins' Josh Bell: Homers against former club

Bell went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Monday in a loss to the Padres.

Bell played part of the season with San Diego last year before moving to Cleveland in the offseason and then being traded to Miami. The veteran bit his former team for a sixth-inning solo shot Monday, though it wasn't near enough to prevent a Marlins loss. Bell has been quite good since joining his new club at the trade deadline, batting an even .300 (21-for-70) with seven homers and 12 RBI over 18 contests.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Three hits, homer in win

Bohm went 3-for-4 with a double, a solo homer and two additional runs scored in Monday's victory over the Giants.

It was a big night for the 27-year-old Bohm, who broke out of a 5-for-34 slump. He extended the Phillies' lead to 4-2 with a home run off Sean Manaea in the third inning, his 13th of the year to match a career high. Overall, Bohm's slashing .285/.338/.429 with 77 RBI and 58 runs scored across 464 plate appearances this season.
