Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL
Padres' Garrett Cooper: Sent to San Diego
The Padres acquired Cooper and Sean Reynolds from the Marlins on Tuesday in exchange for Ryan Weathers, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Cooper has a .722 OPS and 13 home runs in 82 games this season and will now make his way to San Diego. The 32-year-old could find himself in the short side of a platoon at designated hitter since the Friars also acquired the lefty-hitting Ji-Man Choi on Tuesday.

Josh Bell DH | MIN
Marlins' Josh Bell: Dealt to Miami
Miami acquired Bell from the Guardians on Tuesday in exchange for infielders Jean Segura and Kahlil Watson, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
The Marlins moved Garrett Cooper to the Padres just before the 6 p.m. ET deadline, and Bell will replace Cooper as an option at first base and designated hitter. Bell, a 30-year-old former All-Star, had slashed .233/.318/.383 with 11 home runs and 48 RBI through 97 games this season for Cleveland.

Elehuris Montero 1B | COL
Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Reaches base three times in win
Montero went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and an RBI in Monday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Padres.
Montero was making his third start in six games since being called up from Triple-A Albuquerque last Wednesday. Though Michael Toglia is expected to get the first opportunity to serve as the Rockies' primary first baseman following the recent trade of C.J. Cron to the Angels, Montero drew the starting nod Monday while Toglia shifted to the corner outfield as a replacement for Nolan Jones, who is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Toglia and Jones will have clearer paths to everyday roles moving forward, but Montero may end up settling in as the Rockies' top option at designated hitter. In addition to Cron, the Rockies also recently traded away another everyday player in Randal Grichuk, and two more lineup regulars in Charlie Blackmon (hand) and Kris Bryant (finger) remain on the injured list and are without clear target dates to return.

Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL
Pirates' Alfonso Rivas: Dealt to Pirates
Rivas was traded from the Padres to the Pirates on Tuesday along with Jackson Wolf and Estuar Suero in exchange for Ji-Man Choi and Rich Hill, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
With Rivas and Choi essentially switching spots, it's possible Rivas could see a significant uptick in playing time in the short term. The 26-year-old first baseman has a career .245/.330/.323 slash line with four home runs and six steals in 127 games. Rivas has long been known for his strong command of the strike zone in the minor leagues, but he has never been able to tap into the requisite power of a traditional big-league first baseman. He's slashed .332/.462/.582 with nine home runs, eight steals and a .400 BABIP this year in the Pacific Coast League.

Alec Bohm 3B | PHI
Phillies' Alec Bohm: Wraps up strong July
Bohm went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a steal in Monday's win over Miami.
Bohm is now 5-for-8 in his last two games. The 26-year-old first baseman may not want the calendar to flip to August, as he batted .337 (30-for-89) with a .916 OPS in July. Overall, Bohm is slashing .287/.343/.425 with 10 homers, 66 RBI, 45 runs scored and four stolen bases across 382 plate appearances.

Spencer Steer 1B | CIN
Reds' Spencer Steer: Starts at second base
Steer started at second base and went 0-for-2 with two walks and a run scored in Monday's 6-5 win over the Cubs.
Steer made his first start at the keystone and second appearance there this season. The injury to Jonathan India (foot) prompted position juggling for Reds manager David Bell. Matt McLain will be the primary fill-in at second, but it bears monitoring if Steer can squeeze out enough starts for position eligibility. He's also played first base (56 games), third base (33 games) and left field (19 games) in 2023.

Matthew Batten 3B | ATL
Padres' Matthew Batten: Logs three hits in loss
Batten went 3-for-4 with one RBI in Monday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Rockies.
This was Batten's first career three-hit effort, and he doubled his hit total for the season. The 28-year-old has logged just 19 plate appearances over 10 games, though he's started at first base twice in the last week. He has one home run, three RBI and two runs scored at the major-league level this season, but he's likely to remain primarily in a reserve role.
-
Matt Olson 1B | ATL
Braves' Matt Olson: Remains scorching hot Monday
Olson went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks in a loss to the Angels on Monday.
Olson reached in all four of his plate appearances and was the only Atlanta hitter to get on base more than once in the contest. The first baseman also plated his team's only run with a solo shot in the fifth inning. Olson has gone deep four times in his past four games, going 7-for-14 with nine RBI over that span.

LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Hitless in return
Wade (back) went 0-for-5 in Monday's 4-3 extra-innings loss to the Diamondbacks.
Wade had a three-game absence with back tightness. While the 29-year-old has settled in atop the order versus right-handed pitchers, he struggled in July, hitting just .180 with one extra-base hit and an 8:14 BB:K over 18 contests. With Wilmer Flores hitting well and in need of a steadier spot in the lineup, it wouldn't be surprising for that to come at the expense of either Wade or J.D. Davis.

Wilmer Flores 1B | SF
Giants' Wilmer Flores: Homers in extra-innings loss
Flores went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-3 extra-innings loss to the Diamondbacks.
Flores ends July on a five-game hitting streak, and he batted .383 (31-for-81) with six homers and 11 RBI in the month. The infielder got the nod at third base Monday, though he may be slipping back into a utility role with LaMonte Wade (back) returning to action following a three-game absence over the weekend. Flores is slashing .298/.354/.537 with 14 homers, 35 RBI, 33 runs scored and 16 doubles over 268 plate appearances this year -- he's done well enough to see more than just a short-side platoon role even when the Giants are mostly healthy in the infield.
