  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Nationals' Luke Voit: Paces offense in loss

Voit went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Cardinals.

Voit contributed a homer as part of the Nationals' four-run rally in the eighth inning, and he was the only player on the team to log a multi-hit effort. He's opened September hitting .296 (8-for-27), though his homer Wednesday is his only extra-base hit in that span. For the season, the first baseman is slashing .228/.317/.414 with 19 long balls, 60 RBI, 47 runs scored and a stolen base through 110 contests between the Nationals and the Padres.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Hits 35th homer

Goldschmidt went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Nationals.

Goldschmidt's fourth-inning blast was the only run in the game until the Nationals' offense woke up in the seventh and eighth frames. It's been a rather pedestrian start to September for Goldschmidt -- he's gone 5-for-20 (.250) with two home runs in the first six games of the month. The first baseman is still doing just fine overall, as his 35 homers put him one shy of matching a career-high mark he achieved in both 2013 and 2017. He's added 108 RBI, 99 runs scored, six stolen bases and 35 doubles through 130 contests.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Not starting Wednesday

Walker isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Padres.

Walker went 4-for-11 with a homer, three RBI, two runs, a walk and three strikeouts over the last three games but will get a rare day off Wednesday. Emmanuel Rivera is starting at first base and batting cleanup.

  • Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL

Cubs' Alfonso Rivas: Absent from Wednesday's lineup

Rivas isn't starting Wednesday against Cincinnati.

Rivas started the last three games but will head to the bench with southpaw Mike Minor on the mound for the Reds. P.J. Higgins is starting at first base and batting eighth.

  • LaMonte Wade LF | HOU

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Sits against left-hander

Wade isn't starting Wednesday against the Dodgers, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Wade is on the bench for a third consecutive game since southpaw Clayton Kershaw is on the mound for the Dodgers. David Villar will start at first base and bat seventh Wednesday.

  • Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Slugs fifth homer

Montero went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, a walk and two runs scored Tuesday against the Brewers.

Including Tuesday's game, Montero has started only six of Colorado's last 14 games. However, Brendan Rodgers got the day off, which left an opening for Montero at third base. He took advantage of the opportunity by taking Brandon Woodruff yard in the third inning for his fifth home run of the season. Montero has a .210 ISO and .406 slugging percentage through 129 big-league plate appearances, but he's also struck out at a 34.1 percent clip.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Braves' Matt Olson: Three-run homer in win

Olson went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's 10-9 victory over the Athletics.

Olson walked and scored in the first inning before taking Cole Irvin deep for a three-run shot in the top of the third frame. The long ball was his 28th of the year and first since Aug. 24. Olson came into Tuesday's contest having gone 1-for-23 in his previous seven games, so perhaps the homer will get him back on track moving forward. On the season, the first baseman owns a .247 average with 28 homers, 90 RBI and 74 runs scored over 136 games with his new squad.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Smacks 32nd homer

Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Padres.

Walker's blast gave Arizona a 4-0 lead in the fifth inning. He continues to provide solid power with three homers and two doubles across his last 13 games, a span in which he's hitting .354 (17-for-48). The first baseman's surge has him up to a .237/.333/.485 slash line with 32 long balls, 79 RBI, 73 runs scored and 20 doubles through 133 games overall.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Padres' Josh Bell: Goes yard in win

Bell went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and two walks in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks.

Bell got the Padres within a run on his seventh-inning solo shot. It was his first long ball since Aug. 21, and he'd gone five games without an RBI. The 30-year-old first baseman has maintained a .276/.369/.451 slash line with 17 homers, 67 RBI, 71 runs scored, 28 doubles and three triples through 567 plate appearances between the Padres and the Nationals.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Knocks homer in win

Cronenworth went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks.

Cronenworth set the Padres on the comeback trail with his fifth-inning homer to get them on the board. The 28-year-old had gone nine games without a long ball, batting .207 (6-for-29) in that span. He's up to a .239/.339/.388 slash line with 14 homers, 70 RBI, 78 runs scored and a pair of stolen bases through 134 contests.
