Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE
Diamondbacks' Kole Calhoun: Back on injured list
Calhoun was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain Thursday, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.
Calhoun returned from the injured list July 10, but his season will be put on hold once again after he suffered another hamstring issue in Wednesday's game against the Giants. The 33-year-old missed over two months with a hamstring injury earlier in the year, but it's not yet clear how long he'll be sidelined with his current injury.

Josh Bell DH | MIN
Nationals' Josh Bell: Not starting nightcap
Bell isn't starting Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Mets.
Bell started in Thursday's matinee, but he's gone just 1-for-13 with two strikeouts across his last three appearances. Ryan Zimmerman will draw the start at first base and bat fourth.

Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE
Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Expected to return Tuesday
Hoskins (groin) is expected to be reinstated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Hoskins has been sidelined due to a left groin strain recently, and Tuesday is the first day that he's eligible to return from the injured list. The 28-year-old will meet with a doctor Thursday, and the meeting will likely determine whether he's ultimately able to return for Tuesday's series opener in Arizona. Brad Miller should continue to see the majority of the playing time at first base this weekend.

LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Knocks 14th homer
Wade went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 7-2 win over Arizona.
This was the outfielder's first long ball in eight August games. Wade has remained productive at the dish, assembling a six-game hitting streak in which he's gone 8-for-27 (.296) with five RBI and five runs scored. His season slash line is up to .253/.333/.531 with 14 homers, 35 RBI, 32 runs scored and three stolen bases through 221 plate appearances. Wade remains San Francisco's primary leadoff hitter versus right-handed pitchers.

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: On bench Thursday
Tellez (knee) isn't starting Thursday's game against the Cubs.
Tellez was removed from Wednesday's game due to right knee discomfort, and the issue will force him out of the lineup for at least one additional matchup. Eduardo Escobar will take his place at first base while Luis Urias starts at the hot corner.

Alec Bohm 3B | PHI
Phillies' Alec Bohm: Day off Thursday
Bohm will sit Thursday against the Dodgers.
Bohm finds himself on the bench for the second time in three days despite the fact that he's finally found his groove at the plate, hitting .318/.375/.432 over his last 13 games. His defensive struggles could be to blame, as he has four errors in his past five contests. Ronald Torreyes will handle third base in his absence.

Pete Alonso 1B | BAL
Mets' Pete Alonso: Snaps 0-for-21 slump
Alonso went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI in Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Nationals, a game New York and Washington resumed Wednesday.
Alonso broke out of an 0-for-21 funk in the first inning of the contest Tuesday, doubling to deep center before coming around to score on Dominic Smith's two-bagger. After the contest was suspended in the top of the second due to inclement weather, the two sides resumed the game Wednesday, and Alonso added two more hits to his ledger. Alonso will stick in the lineup for the first game of Thursday's doubleheader with Washington, batting second while manning first base.

Joey Votto 1B | TOR
Reds' Joey Votto: Comes up big in tough loss
Votto went 4-for-5 with two home runs, four total runs, four RBI and a walk in Wednesday's extra-innings loss to Atlanta.
After Atlanta jumped out to a 5-0 lead, Votto kicked off a comeback with a two-run shot to center field in the sixth inning. He completed the turnaround with a game-tying, two-run homer in the ninth to send the game into extra frames, but Atlanta ultimately pulled out the win on a walkoff three-run blast by Ozzie Albies. The disappointing outcome not withstanding, it was another big game for the veteran first baseman, who is slashing .352/.440/.868 with a league-leading 14 home runs and 32 RBI over 24 games since the All-Star break.

Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Reaches base four times
Goldschmidt went 1-for-2 with three walks and a run Wednesday against the Pirates.
Goldschmidt reached base in all but one of his plate appearances, though his box score was pedestrian otherwise. The effort continued what has been a productive stretch for Goldschmidt, as he has eight RBI and four runs scored across his last 10 games. Overall, he maintains a .269/.338/.443 line with 18 home runs and seven stolen bases across 476 plate appearances on the season.
