  • LaMonte Wade 1B | SF

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Idle against lefty

Wade isn't in the Giants' lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.

Wade will begin Saturday's contest in the dugout as left-hander Ty Blach prepares to toe the slab for Colorado. Wilmer Flores will pick up a start at first base while batting third.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | PIT

Pirates' Rowdy Tellez: Out against southpaw

Tellez isn't in the Pirates' lineup Saturday versus the Cubs.

Tellez will take a seat Saturday with lefty Shota Imanaga starting on the mound for Chicago. Connor Joe will start at first base and bat third.

  • Michael Busch 1B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Idle versus lefty

Busch isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

With lefty Bailey Falter set to start on the mound for the Bucs, the left-handed bat of Busch will remain in Chicago's dugout. His absence will give Patrick Wisdom an opportunity to start at first while batting leadoff.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Tallies three hits

Cronenworth went 3-for-5 with one RBI in Friday's win over Atlanta.

Cronenworth knocked three singles to collect his fourth three-hit performance of 2024. After beginning the campaign hitting .263 (30-for-114) through April 30, the Padres first baseman has kicked into a higher gear in May, starting the month by hitting .302 (16-for-53). Overall, Cronenworth is slashing .275/.342/.473 with seven homers and 28 RBI in 190 plate appearances this season.

  • Joey Gallo 1B | WAS

Nationals' Joey Gallo: Activated from IL

Gallo (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday.

As expected, Gallo will return to the big-league roster after being placed on the 10-day IL on April 27 with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder. In a corresponding move, Trey Lipscomb was optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Before the injury, Gallo was seeing most of his work in right field, and he should continue to play in right since Lane Thomas (knee) is still sidelined.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | NYM

Mets' Pete Alonso: Swats solo homer

Alonso went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run during Thursday's 6-5 win over the Phillies in extra innings.

Alonso tagged Taijuan Walker (foot) for a solo shot in the first inning, putting the first baseman at 10 homers this season. He's now tied for the fourth-most home runs in the NL and owns a .772 OPS with 23 RBI and 27 runs through 164 at-bats.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Homers in Wednesday's loss

Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 7-2 loss to the Angels.

Goldschmidt is on a five-game hitting streak, having gone 7-for-23 (.304) with two homers and four RBI in that span. The burst of offense has doubled his homer total for the year to four, and he's up to 15 RBI, 20 runs scored, two stolen bases and three doubles while slashing .206/.291/.300 across 41 contests. Goldschmidt sat out a game just prior to his current streak, so it appears the mental reset is paying off in the short term, though his counting stats are unlikely to improve much if the team around him doesn't collectively start hitting better.

  • Joey Meneses 1B | WAS

Nationals' Joey Meneses: Nabs second steal

Meneses went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's loss to the White Sox.

The Nationals have been running wild in 2024 and are tied with the Reds for the major-league lead at 74 steals, and even Meneses is getting in on the action. The 32-year-old first baseman came into the season with only one stolen base in 210 MLB games, but he's now 2-for-2 in steal attempts through 38 contests this year. The rest of his profile has been a disappointment though, and he's slashing only .226/.297/.274 through 165 plate appearances with one homer, seven runs and 21 RBI.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Powers home three runs in win

Harper went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two total runs and three total RBI in Wednesday's 10-5 win over the Mets.

Harper missed Tuesday's contest against New York due to a migraine, but he didn't show any lingering effects of the ailment upon his return to the lineup. The first baseman belted a solo homer to left field in his first at-bat, then plated a pair of runs with a double in the fifth inning. Harper had been in a mini slump coming into the game with a .190 average and just one RBI over his previous five contests, but he appears to be back on track. He's tied for eighth in the majors with 10 homers and ranks 10th with 32 RBI on the campaign.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Snaps homer drought

Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Reds.

Walker led off the second inning with his eighth homer of the season and first in 13 games. He entered the contest on a 1-for-16 run and is batting .217 for the month. The recent slump dropped his average to .264, but Walker still leads the team with 28 RBI.
