Alonso went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Angels.

His solo shot in the ninth inning of Los Angeles closer Raisel Iglesias gave the Mets an insurance run in a 4-1 win. Alonso has hit safely in seven straight starts, and over his last 15 games he's slashing .314/.431/.765 with seven of his 18 homers on the year.

Mountcastle went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Sunday's 10-7 win over the Royals.

Mountcastle hadn't recorded multiple hits in a game since his four-hit effort versus the Red Sox on May 30. He was 6-for-35 (.171) in his previous 10 contests, though five of the hits in that span went for extra bases. The 25-year-old now has a .254/.295/.435 slash line with nine homers, 28 RBI, 23 runs scored, eight doubles and two stolen bases through 207 plate appearances. He remains a fixture in the Orioles' lineup, but he hit sixth for just the third time in his last 21 contests -- more often, he slots in somewhere from the No. 3 to No. 5 spot in the order.

Walker went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double, three RBI, a run scored and a walk in Sunday's 13-1 win over Philadelphia.

Walker knocked an RBI double in the fifth inning and added a two-run single in the sixth. The three-RBI day matched the total output over his previous 10 games. He improved his slash line to .207/.302/.474 with 31 RBI and 26 extra-base hits through 242 plate appearances.

Ellis was designated for assignment by the DIamondbacks on Sunday.

Ellis has appeared in 34 major-league games over the last two years but hasn't made much of an impact, hitting .134/.268/.207. His absence clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Luke Weaver (elbow) to return from the 60-day injured list.

Goldschmidt will sit Sunday against the Reds, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Goldschmidt finds himself on the bench for just the third time this season. While he still owns an excellent .327/.411/.577 slash line, he's gone hitless over his last three games, so a day off seems like a good idea. Juan Yepez will handle first base in his absence.

Kirilloff hit two home runs Saturday for Triple-A St. Paul and is hitting .379 with eight homers and a 1.158 OPS in 24 games since being sent to the minors May 15.

Kirilloff will likely be called up again soon, but the Twins wanted to see him thrive in the minors after he missed several weeks after suffering inflammation in his surgically repaired right wrist in mid-April and early May. There was a fear that Kirilloff may have had his power sapped from a setback to his wrist that needed surgery to repair a ligament tear last summer. It looks like his wrist is fully healthy, and he may be able to show the power in the majors again that he did at his peak last season.

Rizzo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in an 8-0 victory versus the Cubs on Saturday.

Rizzo hit the last of the Yankees' six solo homers in the game, going deep to right field in the fifth inning. The long ball was his fourth over his past eight contests and 15th overall this season. Rizzo is on pace to notch his first 30-homer season since he hit 32 for the Cubs in 2017.

Freeman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run Saturday in a loss to the Giants.

The Dodgers racked up 13 hits in the contest but had trouble putting runs on the board throughout. They trailed by two entering the ninth inning, and Freeman cut the deficit in half with his 403-foot solo shot leading off the frame. The long ball snapped a 14-game homerless streak for the veteran, who has slugged only five home runs through 59 games on the campaign -- well behind his 31-homer pace from last season.

Montero was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque between the two halves of Saturday's doubleheader against the Padres.

Both of Montero's stints with the big-league squad have been quite brief, and he hasn't made the most of his very limited opportunities, going 2-for-13 with five strikeouts. Jake Bird had his contract selected to take Montero's place on the roster.

Cooper was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Saturday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

He was removed from Friday's game with cramping, but this trip to the IL came without an injury designation. Cooper had been red-hot at the plate, slashing .455/.507/.682 with two home runs over his last 66 at-bats. Jorge Soler is slotted in at designated hitter while Luke Williams gets a start in the outfield Saturday.
