Votto went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's 5-3 win over the Marlins.

He knocked in a pair with a single in the first inning, then added another RBI on a ground rule double in the fourth and capped off the impressive game with a solo shot in the seventh. Voit has swatted seven homers with 26 RBI, 21 runs scored and five doubles through 172 plate appearances, but he's likely to play second fiddle to Rizzo down the stretch.

Hoskins (groin) won't return from the 10-day injured list Friday, Daniel Guerrero of MLB.com reports.

Hoskins took batting practice and fielded grounders ahead of Friday's game against the Padres, but he'll spend at least one more day on the injured list. However, manager Joe Girardi is optimistic that the first baseman will be back in action Saturday.

Lowe will sit Friday against the Red Sox.

Lowe finds himself on the bench for the second time in three days. Both occasions have come against lefties including Friday's starter Chris Sale, though Lowe had previously been in the lineup against three straight southpaws. Goldschmidt's extended hot stretch dates back nearly two months, as he's slashing .342/.404/.540 with 11 doubles, seven home runs and 28 RBI in his last 40 games.

France went 3-for-6 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored Thursday against the Rangers.

France took Joe Barlow yard in the 11th inning to provide the winning runs for the Mariners. It was his 13th home run of the season and third across 17 games in August. France is hitting .338 in that span, while also driving in 10 and scoring nine runs. On the campaign, France is hitting .286/.357/.443 across 474 plate appearances.

Olson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk Thursday against the White Sox.

Olson took Michael Kopech yard in the seventh inning to record his 31st homer of the season.
