  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Heads to bench

Mountcastle is not in the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Mountcastle has hit the ball quite well in his first 11 major-league games, slashing .341/.400/.537. DJ Stewart will be the left fielder for the afternoon game, but Mountcastle will likely return to the lineup for the nightcap.

  • Ryan O'Hearn RF | PIT

Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: On bench Friday

O'Hearn is not starting Friday against the White Sox, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

O'Hearn has just a .654 OPS this season, a near match for his .650 mark from last year. Hunter Dozier again moves in to play first base Friday, with Whit Merrifield sliding over to right field and Edward Olivares starting in center.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Sits for first game

Dalbec is not in the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader against Toronto, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Dalbec sits after starting four of the last five games. He's gone 2-for-15 with 10 strikeouts to start his big-league career. Michael Chavis will start at first base.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Makes fourth start

Dalbec started at first base Thursday and went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts in a 6-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

Dalbec has started four of five games since the Red Sox called him up from the alternate camp. As someone who could be the primary starter at first base in 2021, it makes sense Dalbec will see regular plate appearances. However, that doesn't mean they will be good plate appearances. Dalbec is hitless in his last 11 at-bats and has struck out 10 times in 15 at-bats.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Drives in winning run

Bohm went 3-for-4 with an RBI on Thursday against the Nationals.

Bohm collected three hits but had little else to show for his efforts until he delivered an RBI sacrifice fly to win the game in the 10th inning. The rookie now has a four-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 7-for-14 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBI. Overall, he's managed a strong .317/.375/.392 line across 72 plate appearances.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Cranks seventh homer

Hoskins went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run Thursday against the Nationals.

Hoskins displayed a three-outcome approach at the dish, striking out a trio of times in addition to his walk and home run. His long ball came in the third inning, when he led off the frame with his seventh homer the season. Hoskins has been on a tear of late, going yard six times in his last nine contests. Overall, he's hitting .269/.432/.546 across 139 plate appearances this season.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Drives in two

Voit went 1-for-4 with a double, two walks and two RBI on Thursday against the Mets.

Voit came through with a two-RBI double in the second inning to put the Yankees up 4-0. He now has multiple RBI in three of his last six contests, despite slugging only one home run in that span. He has hit the ball very well this season, managing a .293/.359/.664 line to go along with 13 home runs, 23 runs scored and 28 RBI across 128 plate appearances.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Slugs walkoff homer

Alonso went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Thursday against the Yankees.

Alonso had a game to forget until the 10th inning, when he came to the plate in a tie game. He smacked his eighth homer of the season over the left-field wall to give the Mets a walkoff victory. Alonso has now homered in consecutive games, though he has collected just five hits in his last 41 at-bats. While his overall performance at the plate has been disappointing, Alonso has still managed 19 runs scored and 22 RBI while hitting just .209/.323/.410 across 158 plate appearances.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Not starting Thursday

Tellez isn't starting Thursday against the Red Sox.

After recording hits in each of the past four games, Tellez will take a seat Thursday. Teoscar Hernandez will take over as the designated hitter with Jonathan Villar entering the lineup at second base.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Slugs seventh homer

Alonso went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's win over the Orioles.

He crushed a sixth-inning pitch from John Means and deposited it into the second deck in left field at Camden Yards, chasing the southpaw from the game in the process. Alonso has had a tough season and can't seem to build any momentum at the plate, but despite a .722 OPS he's still supplied solid power numbers with seven homers and 20 RBI through 36 games.
