  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | TEX

Pirates' Rowdy Tellez: Sitting down Saturday

Tellez isn't in the Pirates' lineup Saturday versus the Royals.

Tellez will take a day to recollect himself Saturday after going 0-for-14 across his last four games. His absence will allow Billy Cook to start at first base while batting ninth.

  • Michael Busch 3B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Homers in three-hit effort

Busch went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 9-5 loss to the Rockies.

Busch went deep with two runners on in the eighth inning, giving him 18 home runs and 59 RBI for the season. The 26-year-old is enjoying his first year in Chicago, as he's gotten a chance to play regularly at first base and is sporting a respectable .778 OPS across 138 games. With this being his first real taste of extended MLB action, Busch could be poised for a step forward in 2025 now that he has more experience under his belt.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Playing time slipping

Diaz has not started in three of the Rays' last eight games.

Diaz is still starting the majority of games for Tampa Bay, but his playing time has slipped as Jonathan Aranda becomes a more consistent presence in the lineup. Diaz's usage against righties is particularly concerning, as he's started only half of the team's last six matchups. It's possible he is dealing with an injury, though the Rays have not disclosed that.

  • Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Getting regular look in lineup

Aranda went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Friday against the Guardians.

Aranda has been in the lineup for seven of the Rays' last eight games, including five appearances at first base. In that limited sample, he's gone 7-for-25 with two homers, three RBI, three doubles and five runs scored. With Tampa Bay out of the playoff picture, the team could opt to continue giving Aranda run to evaluate him for a potentially expanded role in 2025.

  • Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Three hits, two RBI in loss

Lowe went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Mariners.

Lowe has five multi-hit efforts over his last nine games, going 14-for-29 (.483) with eight RBI in that span. The first baseman provided a pair of RBI singles in Friday's contest, though it wasn't quite enough to fend off the Mariners' late comeback. Lowe is slashing .269/.365/.395 with 13 home runs, 58 RBI, 55 runs scored and two stolen bases over 126 contests this season.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Padres' Luis Arraez: Gets on base four times

Arraez went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's 5-0 win over the Giants.

Arraez has three hits in four of his last five games, and he's hit a stellar .455 (30-for-66) over his last 15 contests. Just two hits during that longer span have gone for extra bases though, both of them doubles. The slap hitter is up to a .320/.354/.390 slash line with four home runs, 42 RBI, 78 runs scored, nine stolen bases, 25 doubles and two triples over 138 games between the Padres and the Marlins this year.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Provides offense in win

Hoskins went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 2-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

Hoskins' fourth-inning blast was enough to give the Brewers the lead for good. The first baseman has struggled in September, going 4-for-30 (.133) over 10 contests, though two of those hits are homers. For the year, he's at a .207/.294/.409 slash line, 24 long balls, 73 RBI, 51 runs scored and three stolen bases over 118 games.

  • Niko Kavadas 1B | LAA

Angels' Niko Kavadas: Sitting versus lefty

Kavadas isn't in the Angels' lineup for Friday's game against the Astros, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Kavadas will retreat to the dugout Friday as the lefty-throwing Yusei Kikuchi starts on the bump for Houston. Kavadas' absence will allow Charles Leblanc to serve as Los Angeles' designated hitter while batting fourth.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Riding pine Friday

Diaz is not in Friday's lineup against the Guardians.

Jonathan Aranda draws the start at first base while batting sixth against righty Tanner Bibee. Diaz is hitting .389 with two home runs, four runs and six RBI in 10 games this month.

  • Justin Turner 1B | CHC

Mariners' Justin Turner: Lifts 10th homer Thursday

Turner went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Rangers on Thursday.

The veteran turned on a Kumar Rocker offering in the fourth inning and sent it 401 feet to center field for his 10th home run of the season, and the Mariners' first run of the game. Turner has reached base safely in eight consecutive contests and in 12 straight starts overall, mustering a .279/.407/.535 slash line with five extra-base hits, five RBI, 10 runs and a modest 13.0 percent strikeout rate over his last 54 plate appearances.
