  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

Astros' Jose Abreu: Power still lacking

Abreu went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the Rays.

Abreu tallied an RBI double and came around to score in the fifth inning of Tuesday's win. He now has at least one hit in seven of his last eight starts, which has resulted in a .273 average. Even with that positive production, he has only two extra-base hits in that span and four total on the campaign across 105 plate appearances. Overall, Abreu has maintained a 60 wRC+ and .256 wOBA.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Marlins' Yuli Gurriel: Showcases power, speed

Gurriel went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and and a stolen base in Tuesday's loss against the Braves.

Gurriel swiped his first bag of the 2023 season Tuesday, taking second base after hitting a single in the second frame. The first baseman also came through in crunch time, clubbing a solo home run in the top of the ninth that brought the Marlins to within three, but they were unable to build momentum and mount a comeback. Though Gurriel is used primarily as a bench option for Miami, he's worth a look in daily formats when in the starting lineup against left-handed pitching, considering his minuscule 9.1 percent strikeout rate in that split.

  • Nate Lowe 1B | CIN

    Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Homers Tuesday

Lowe went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Reds.

Lowe opened the scoring with a solo home run off Luke Weaver in the first inning. He'd add a double to lead off the fourth. The multi-hit game snaps a stretch of seven contests without an extra-base hit for Lowe. The 27-year-old first baseman is slashing .253/.308/.432 with three home runs and 16 RBI through 104 plate appearances this season following a breakout 2022 campaign.

  • Ryan Noda 1B | BAL

Athletics' Ryan Noda: Delivers as in-game replacement

Noda entered Monday's extra-inning win over the Angels as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and remained in the game at first base, going 1-for-1 with a two-run double, a walk and two runs.

Noda drew the base on balls in his pinch-hit plate appearance and eventually came around to score the tying run on Brent Rooker's base-loaded walk later in the frame. Noda then delivered two key runs himself with his 10th-inning double, which snapped an 8-8 tie and gave the Athletics a lead they wouldn't relinquish. The 27-year-old has now reached safely in 11 of the last 12 games, and although he's still carrying just a .216 average, he boasts an elite .394 on-base percentage thanks in large part to a 22.7 percent walk rate.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Receives Tuesday off

Cron is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Guardians.

Cron appears to be getting a maintenance day after he started each of the Rockies' past five games and went 4-for-20 with a home run, a double, three runs and two RBI. Mike Moustakas will fill in for Cron at first base.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Mashes third homer

Casas went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Orioles.

He opened the scoring in the second inning by taking Dean Kremer deep to right-center field on a blast that left his bat at 111 mph and traveled an estimated 426 feet. Casas has struggled badly to begin the season -- over his last 50 plate appearances he's slashing a brutal .103/.300/.205 -- but the 23-year-old's power has never been in question. Of his nine hits so far in 2023, he has three doubles and three homers.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Enters as pinch hitter

Walker (forearm) entered Monday's game as a pinch hitter and walked in Arizona's 5-4 win over the Royals. He remained in the game to play the final inning at first base.

Walker was held out of the starting lineup for a second straight game after getting hit by a pitch on the forearm Saturday. The usage suggests the injury was not considered serious and an opportunity to give him a mini-break while letting the lefty-hitting Pavin Smith play against a couple of right-handers.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Strong effort in loss

Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Pasquantino has hit safely in five of his last six games, going 9-for-24 (.375) with three extra-base hits over that span. The first baseman's impressive start to the year -- a .291/.391/.532 slash line with four home runs and seven doubles -- has earned him an everyday role. He's added seven RBI and 11 runs scored over 23 contests.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Takes seat against Cardinals

Wade is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals, Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.

Wade will get a night off against left-hander Jordan Montgomery and the Cardinals on Monday. Wilmer Flores will get the start at first base and hit sixth with Wade on the bench.

  • Ryan Noda 1B | BAL

Athletics' Ryan Noda: Out against left-hander

Noda is out of the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

Noda will get the night off against Jose Suarez and the Angels' pitching staff for the series opener. Jesus Aguilar is hitting cleanup while playing first base with Carlos Perez operating as the designated hitter and batting seventh.
