  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Scratched with flu-like symptoms

Cron was scratched from the lineup Saturday against the Nationals with flu-like symptoms.

With Cron out, Mike Moustakas will now play first base for the Rockies and Alan Trejo will get the start at the hot corner. Cron could be able to return to the lineup as soon as Sunday.

  • Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Gets day of rest

Montero is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals.

Montero will get a day of rest against right-hander Trevor Williams. In his place, Mike Moustakas will hit fifth and play third base. Over 28 at-bats to begin 2023, Montero has hit .321 with a .785 OPS, a home run and three RBI.

  • Ryan Noda 1B | BAL

Athletics' Ryan Noda: Sits versus lefty

Noda is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays.

Noda started the past four games and has home runs in two straight, but he'll take a seat Saturday with southpaw Jeffrey Springs on the mound for Tampa Bay. Jesus Aguilar will man first base while Seth Brown serves as the designated hitter.

  • Kody Clemens 1B | MIN

Phillies' Kody Clemens: Out of Saturday's lineup

Clemens is not in the lineup for Saturday's game versus the Reds.

Clemens was called up Friday and went 0-for-2 with a walk against Cincinnati in his season debut. The 26-year-old is expected to serve as the Phillies' regular first baseman against right-handed pitchers, but he's on the bench Saturday with lefty Nick Lodolo on the bump for the Reds. Alec Bohm will shift to first base while Edmundo Sosa starts at the hot corner.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Sitting versus lefty

Casas is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Southpaw Joey Wentz is starting Saturday for Detroit, so Casas will head to the bench for just the second time this season. Justin Turner will shift to first base with Masataka Yoshida serving as the designated hitter and Rob Refsnyder in left field.

  • Ryan Noda 1B | BAL

Athletics' Ryan Noda: Belts second homer

Noda went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in a loss to the Rays on Friday.

Noda filled in at designated hitter for the first time while moving up to the No. 2 spot in the order, and he responded with a 401-foot shot to right-center in the third inning that gave the Athletics their second run. The slugging rookie has left the yard in consecutive games, already demonstrating a penchant for hard contact that was evident throughout his minor-league career.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Pirates' Carlos Santana: Slugs second homer

Santana went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored Friday against the White Sox.

Santana started a big offensive day for the Pirates with a solo shot in the second inning off Lucas Giolito. It was Santana's second homer in as many games, though he still has only four hits across 27 at-bats on the season.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Clubs homer in win

Pasquantino went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 3-1 win over the Giants.

Pasquantino put the Royals ahead for good when he took Giants starter Alex Cobb deep in the fourth inning. The Royals' offense has been anything but consistent so far, and Pasquantino has struggled, hitting .208 (5-for-24) with three RBI and two runs scored, though he also has a 5:4 BB:K. While it's not an ideal start to the campaign, no one else has stepped up to challenge the young first baseman for playing time yet, so he should continue to play regularly.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Records steal in win

Mountcastle went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 7-6 win over the Yankees.

Mountcastle's RBI came on a sacrifice fly in the third inning, while the steal was his first of the season. The Orioles have been among the most aggressive teams on the basepaths, but the first baseman shouldn't be expected to contribute regularly in steals as he's never swiped more than four bags in a season. He's gone 8-for-29 (.276) with two home runs, seven RBI, five runs scored and three doubles across seven contests.

  • Kody Clemens 1B | MIN

Phillies' Kody Clemens: Hitless in season debut

Clemens went 0-for-2 with a walk in Friday's 5-2 win over the Reds.

With Darick Hall (thumb) on the 10-day injured list, Clemens was promoted to the big-league club and immediately plugged into the starting lineup. Despite his lackluster debut, the Phillies are still planning on Clemens being a regular against right-handed starters.
