Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL
Cubs' Alfonso Rivas: Starting in right field
Rivas is starting in right field Tuesday against the Phillies.
Rivas will draw his second consecutive start and should be in line for increased playing time in the outfield after Jason Heyward (concussion) was placed on the 7-day injured list Tuesday. The 25-year-old made his major-league debut Aug. 29 and has hit .280 with a double, five runs and an RBI in 12 appearances since then.

Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL
White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Placed on injured list
Vaughn was placed on the 10-day injured list with lower back inflammation Tuesday.
Vaughn hasn't played since Thursday while dealing with what was previously reported to be leg soreness. He's evidently also been dealing with a back issue. The transaction was backdated to Friday, so he'll be eligible to return Monday, which James Fegan of The Athletic reports the White Sox believe is possible.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Slugs homer No. 25
Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run, a stolen base, two runs scored and two RBI in Monday's 7-0 win over the Mets.
The 34-year-old put together a line reminiscent of his prime, as he launched a solo shot off Rich Hill in the fifth inning then swiped a bag in the ninth. Goldschmidt is now up to 25 homers on the year, the sixth time in his career he's reached that plateau, and his 12 steals are his highest total since he racked up 18 in 2017.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B | TOR
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Launches league-leading 45th homer
Guerrero went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 8-1 win over the Rays.
He took over the major-league home run lead with an absolute missile, hooking an Adam Conley pitch just over the wall in the left-field corner on a line drive that left the yard in an incredible 3.3 seconds. Guerrero not only has 45 homers, one ahead of Shohei Ohtani, he also leads the American League in batting average at .318 -- leaving him just four RBI behind Jose Abreu for a potential Triple Crown. As an added bonus, he also leads all of MLB with 114 runs.

Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW
Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Takes seat Monday
Dalbec isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Seattle, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
Dalbec will take a seat for the series opener after racking up a pair of extra-base hits Sunday afternoon against the White Sox. Kyle Schwarber shifts to first base as a result.

Jake Cronenworth 1B | SD
Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Remains sidelined
Cronenworth (finger) remains on the bench Monday against the Giants.
Cronenworth is expected to avoid the injured list despite the fact that he's dealing with a small fracture on his left ring finger. He'll remain on the bench for the third straight game, with Fernando Tatis again serving as the shortstop.

Yuli Gurriel DH | SD
Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Delivers four-hit day
Gurriel went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Angels.
Gurriel broke out of a minor 1-for-13 skid over his previous three starts with a perfect day at the dish in the series finale, lifting his season average back up to a career-high .315. He'll remain in the lineup for Monday's game in Texas, manning first base and batting cleanup.

Freddie Freeman 1B | LAD
Braves' Freddie Freeman: Joins 30-homer club
Freeman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Sunday in Atlanta's 5-3 win over Miami.
Freeman celebrated his 32nd birthday by locking up the third 30-homer campaign of his career in the seventh inning, when he took Anthony Bass deep to the opposite field to give Atlanta a two-run lead. While he's not quite meeting the high standard he established during his 2020 National League MVP season, Freeman has more or less paid off for fantasy managers that nabbed him in the first or second round of drafts. He's supplemented his 30 home runs with 77 RBI, eight stolen bases, a .296 average and an NL-leading 107 runs.

Yandy Diaz DH | TB
Rays' Yandy Diaz: Drives in three Sunday
Diaz went 2-for-5 with three RBI from a pair of doubles in an extra-innings loss to the Tigers on Sunday.
Despite the disappointing team outcome Sunday, Diaz came through nicely in the latter portion of the contest. His eighth-inning two-bagger extended the Rays' lead to 5-2 at the time by plating Randy Arozarena and Manuel Margot, while his 10th-inning two-base knock snapped a 5-5 tie by bringing Ji-Man Choi home. Diaz now has three multi-hit efforts in the last seven contests, with three of his eight hits during that span going for extra bases.

Matt Olson 1B | ATL
Athletics' Matt Olson: Socks home run No. 34
Olson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Rangers.
Olson blasted a two-run homer off Taylor Hearn in the sixth inning to bring the Athletics within one run. It was his second long ball in as many games. The 27-year-old leads Oakland in home runs (34), RBI (98) and runs (91). He is slashing .276/.370/.545 in 586 plate appearances this season.
