Motter went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Monday's 6-4 victory over the D-backs.

The rookie's average had dipped as low as .147 on June 2, but he's hit .500 (3-for-6) over the last two starts to bring it back to an even .200. Motter has clearly endured growing pains with respect to the adjustment to big league pitching, and has yet to attempt a steal after swiping more than 20 bags in four different minor league stops. Despite the struggles, the 26-year-old figures to continue logging a solid amount of starts for the time being with Brandon Guyer (hamstring) on the 15-day DL.

Chavis (thumb) was activated by Low-A Greenville on Monday, the Greenville News reports. He was set to play Monday night, but the Drive's game against Kannapolis was postponed.

The 20-year-old Chavis, Boston's No. 10 prospect according to MLB.com, was placed on the disabled list April 25 because of a ligament tear in his left thumb. At the time, he was batting .356 with three homers, four doubles and 14 RBI.

Altuve hit his 10th home run in a 3-for-5 game with three RBI in Monday's loss to the Rangers.

Altuve's hitting streak is up to 12 games as his MVP-caliber season continues. His batting line is up to .336/.411/.557, and his .969 OPS has him fifth in the majors among qualified players, behind just David Ortiz, Daniel Muprhy, Jackie Bradley and Manny Machado. With 10 home runs and 16 stolen bases already, Altuve is well on his way to his first 20-20 season of his career after joining the 10-10 club in 2015.

Marte was officially activated from the disabled list Monday.

As expected, Marte will rejoin the active roster after completing a rehab assignment over the weekend. Marte didn't exactly light it up at the plate while on rehab, but his thumb is back at full strength and he's expected to step back in as the Mariners' primary shortstop. To clear room on the 25-man roster, Seattle optioned Stefen Romero to Triple-A.

Marte (thumb) will be activated from the disabled list Monday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

This was the plan all along for Marte, who kicked off his rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Tacoma. Though he's batted just 4-for-20 in his five games with the minor-league squad, more importantly, he's experienced no setbacks with his thumb. Marte should immediately reclaim the starting shortstop job from Luis Sardinas upon rejoining the Mariners.

Franklin was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Sunday, MLB.com's Bill Chastain reports.

Franklin will replace outfielder Brandon Guyer on the 25-man roster after Guyer was placed on the disabled list due to a hamstring injury. Look for Franklin, who was hitting .258 with five homers and seven stolen bases across 194 at-bats at Triple-A, to see only limited duty with the Rays as a backup in the middle infield. Instead, Franklin's addition will allow utility man Taylor Motter to spend most of his time in the outfield as one of Guyer's primary replacements.

Kemp went 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBI, a run, two walks and two strikeouts Friday against Oakland.

Since debuting with the Astros on May 18, Kemp has been in the lineup often against right-handed starters. Friday marked the first time he's hit higher than ninth in the order (he hit eighth), and it appears as though Kemp will continue to see chances to play at least on a semi-regular basis despite the recent activation of Carlos Gomez from the disabled list.

Semien went 1-for-3 with home run, a walk and a strikeout Friday against Houston.

Semien has hit safely in five of the past six games, and he's also had two multi-hit games over that span. The 25-year-old shortstop has hit .273 with a .485 SLG over the past 10 games, offering steady value from the middle infield.

Barreto, 20, is batting .239/.290/.363 with five home runs, 20 RBI and 13 steals through 51 games at Double-A Midland.

Barreto's average has gone down while his strikeouts have gone up this season. His lack of patience at the dish is more noticeable when he's not hitting .300, as he did the previous two years in the minors. While Barreto remains among the younger players at this level, he has now had essentially two whole months of mediocrity.

Forsythe (shoulder) is up to taking swings off tossed balls in his rehab process, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

It was another step in what has been a productive rehab week for Forsythe, who'd managed to hit off a tee for the first time Tuesday. The latest development occurred Thursday afternoon, keeping the second baseman on track for a mid-June return from the DL.
