Twins' Luke Keaschall: Losing playing time
Keaschall is not in Saturday's lineup against the Red Sox.
This is the fourth time in the last seven games Keaschall has opened the game on the bench. He is hitting .268 with a .414 OBP, zero home runs and three steals in 18 games this month. Orlando Arcia will man the keystone against lefty Jovani Moran.

Jackson Holliday 2B | BAL
Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Pops first homer of 2026 on Friday
Holliday went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, one walk and two runs scored in Friday's 7-4 win over the Tigers.
After batting seventh and then eighth in the order in his first two games of the season Tuesday and Wednesday, Holliday was in the nine hole Friday. He logged his first two hits of the 2026 campaign, singling and scoring in the third inning before popping a two-run homer off Jack Flaherty in the fourth. Through three contests, Holliday is 2-for-7 at the plate with a 1:3 BB:K across eight plate appearances.

Justin Foscue 2B | TEX
Rangers' Justin Foscue: Finding groove against MLB pitching
Foscue started at second base and went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 9-6 loss to the Angels. He was also hit by a pitch.
Foscue ran a hit streak to four games, during which he's 9-for-15 with a home run, five RBI and four runs scored. He's looking like a more competent hitter in his third exposure at the MLB level. Entering 2026, the infielder was 3-for-51 (.059) in his first two stints against major-league pitching. Foscue's made seven consecutive starts and has benefited from an injury to Corey Seager (back), which forced Ezequiel Duran to slide from second base to cover shortstop.

Hao Yu Lee 2B | DET
Tigers' Hao-Yu Lee: Drives in two Friday
Lee went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Friday's 7-4 loss to the Orioles.
Lee hit an RBI double in the top of the third inning, and then followed with an RBI single in the fourth. With Gleyber Torres (oblique) out since early May, Lee has started the last four games for the struggling Tigers as they look to jump start the offense with some different lineup combinations. The rookie infielder has struggled a bit with a .222/.269/.349 slash line across 24 contests, but if Detroit continues to fall out of contention, the team may give younger players like Lee even more playing time.

Ernie Clement 2B | TOR
Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Swipes bag in win
Clement went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, one run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 6-2 win over the Pirates.
Clement contributed throughout the game, stealing a base in the second inning and drawing a walk in the sixth before adding a double and scoring in the eighth. The 30-year-old is in the midst of a modest five-game hitting streak that includes five extra-base hits, four RBI and four runs scored. For the year, he's slashing .297/.323/.432 with three homers, 16 RBI, 20 runs scored and two stolen bases across 201 plate appearances.

Donovan Walton 3B | LAA
Angels' Donovan Walton: Listed in Halos' lineup Friday
Walton is starting at third base and batting ninth for the Angels in Friday's game against the Rangers, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
Walton and Wade Meckler are both in Friday's lineup despite no official transactions being announced, though one expected move is for Yoan Moncada to go on the injured list due to a right knee injury, per Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register. Walton has spent the entire 2026 season with Triple-A Salt Lake, where he is slashing .282/.429/.481 with three steals, seven home runs and 33 RBI across 168 plate appearances. He could see some regular playing time at the hot corner for as long as Moncada is out of action.

Marcelo Mayer 2B | BOS
Red Sox's Marcelo Mayer: Will start seeing time at shortstop
Interim manager Chad Tracy said Friday that Mayer will start at shortstop Sunday against the Twins and will see extended playing time at the position while Trevor Story (abdomen) recovers from sports hernia surgery, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Story is expected to be sidelined 6-to-10 weeks following surgery Thursday, and the Red Sox have been using multiple players at shortstop this week. Nick Sogard is starting there Friday, and Andruw Monasterio and Isiah Kiner-Falefa have both seen action at the position. With Mayer kicking over from second base, those same players will likely fight for playing time at second. Mayer hasn't played shortstop at the major-league level since his first two career games last May.

Ernie Clement 2B | TOR
Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Barrage of XBH in win
Clement went 3-for-4 with three doubles in Thursday's win over the Yankees.
The Blue Jays managed only seven hits in total in a 2-0 victory, but Clement stayed hot with two-baggers off three different pitchers. The 30-year-old infielder is slashing .375/.405/.600 over his last 12 games with five total extra-base hits, six RBI and eight runs.

Jose Caballero SS | NYY
Yankees' Jose Caballero: Expected to be activated Friday
Caballero (finger) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Caballero is on track to return to action just one day after what would've been a minimum-length stay on the injured list with a right middle finger fracture. The 29-year-old didn't require a minor-league rehab assignment, and he'll likely slot in as New York's everyday shortstop once again moving forward, making Anthony Volpe's role uncertain in the near future. Outfielder Spencer Jones and relief pitcher Yovanny Cruz were optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after Thursday's 2-0 loss to the Blue Jays, making room for Caballero and starting pitcher Gerrit Cole (elbow) to be reinstated from the injured list Friday.

Michael Stefanic 2B | ATH
Athletics' Michael Stefanic: Re-signs on MiLB pact
Stefanic re-signed Wednesday with the Athletics on a minor-league contract.
The Athletics designated Stefanic for assignment over the weekend, and upon clearing waivers, the 30-year-old infielder elected free agency. He was on the open market for just two days before opting to return to the Athletics organization and agreeing to report to Triple-A Las Vegas. Before being dropped from the 40-man roster, Stefanic saw action in two games for the Athletics and went 2-for-5 with a run.
