  • Red Sox's Enmanuel Valdez: Set to be called up Sunday

The Red Sox are expected to recall Valdez from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Rosters expand to 28 players Sunday, and Boston is slated to add Valdez and right-hander Chase Shugart. Valdez has appeared in 60 major-league games this season, posting a .224/.282/.400 slash line with six home runs and 27 RBI across 189 plate appearances. His addition to the expanded roster boosts the team's infield depth with David Hamilton going on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to a left index finger fracture.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | TB

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Scores three times in win

Lowe went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 11-4 win over the Padres.

Lowe received a breather Friday and responded with his first three-hit game since Aug. 3. The second baseman went 0-for-15 in a rough series at Oakland last week but has since hit safely in five of six contests with four doubles. On the season, he's batting .247 with 16 home runs, 49 RBI, 45 runs scored and five stolen bases across 336 plate appearances.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Exits minor-league game with injury

Moore (undisclosed) was pulled from a Double-A game Friday due to an undisclosed injury, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Blum notes that Moore was "in some visible pain" when he departed Friday's contest, and the Angels' top prospect isn't in Rocket City's lineup Saturday. The Angels didn't provide an update on Moore's status when asked Saturday, so it's not yet clear what type of issue he is dealing with or how severe it may be. Moore had been swinging the bat well prior to getting hurt, slashing .294/.348/.506 with five home runs, 10 RBI, 16 runs and two stolen bases over 21 games at the Double-A level.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Flashes wheels in win

Holliday went 1-for-3 with a walk, a triple, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 5-3 win over the Rockies.

In his first game at Coors Field, the place where his father Matt played the first five seasons of his career, Holliday made a big impression with his legs as he hit his second triple and stole his second bag in 38 MLB contests. The 20-year-old is still struggling to get comfortable in the majors -- Holliday hasn't had a multi-hit performance in 13 straight games, slashing just .122/.200/.195 over that stretch with a 3:15 BB:K. His ceiling remains sky high, but he's a risky fantasy option for the rest of 2024.

  • Rays' Richie Palacios: Ramping up

Palacios (knee) resumed on-field activities Friday, MLB.com reports.

Palacios has been sidelined since Aug. 2, and this activity represents his first significant progress. He's expected to play in a complex league game Sept. 9 and could be activated shortly thereafter.

  • Brandon Drury 2B | LAA

Angels' Brandon Drury: Knocks homer in loss

Drury went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Friday's 9-5 loss to the Mariners.

Drury has homered twice over his last four contests after a 62-game power drought. He's still not hitting particularly well, going 3-for-26 (.115) over his last eight games. For the season, the infielder is at a .159/.243/.218 slash line with three homers, 13 RBI, 25 runs scored and six doubles over 284 plate appearances. Most of his lost playing time has been due to injuries, but the Angels could reduce his workload over the final month if they want to get a look at an infield prospect such as Christian Moore or evaluate other members of their current major-league roster.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | CLE

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Homer and steal in win

Gimenez went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, a steal, and an additional run scored in Friday's win versus Pittsburgh.

The Cleveland second baseman slugged a 375-foot solo shot off Carmen Mlodzinski in the fifth inning for his sixth long ball of the year. Gimenez later swiped second base in the seventh to collect his ninth steal in the month of August and 25th of the season. The 25-year-old is now slashing .254/.305/.333 with 57 runs scored and 53 RBI across 528 plate appearances.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | KC

Royals' Adam Frazier: On bench against southpaw

Frazier is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Houston.

Frazier will yield to Tyler Gentry in right field Friday against Framber Valdez and the Astros. Frazier has just one hit in his last 16 at-bats.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Sitting against LHP

Massey is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Houston.

Massey will avoid a same-hand matchup with lefty Framber Valdez on Friday. Maikel Garcia will play second base while Nick Loftin slots in at DH.

  • Brooks Baldwin SS | CHW

White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Playing time slipping

Baldwin is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Mets.

Baldwin looks to have fallen out of a regular job, as he's been out of the lineup now for three straight games and four times over the last six contests. Jacob Amaya is at shortstop and Nicky Lopez is at second base for the White Sox in the series opener.
