Polanco was removed from Monday's game against the Royals due to right hamstring tightness.

The severity of Polanco's injury is unclear, though he's likely headed for further testing. Josh Rojas and Luis Urias could see more opportunities at second base if Polanco is forced to miss additional time.

Schuemann will start at shortstop and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Astros.

Schuemann will pick up his sixth consecutive start after going 5-for-19 with a home run, two doubles, two walks, four RBI and three runs over Oakland's previous five games. He looks poised to operate as the Athletics' primary shortstop while Darell Hernaiz is on the injured list with a severe ankle sprain.

Gelof (oblique) rejoined the Athletics on Monday and could be activated from the 10-day injured list during their four-game series in Houston, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Gelof played consecutive full rehab games with Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday and Sunday, which was the last box he needed to check before returning to the big club. The Athletics seem content to give Gelof a rest day Monday before likely activating him ahead of Tuesday's contests. Gelof has been out since late April with a strained left oblique.

Lowe said following his rehab game Sunday with Triple-A Durham that he felt "something" in his right oblique and he will visit a specialist Tuesday in Nashville, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe started at second base with Durham on Sunday, going 1-for-5 with a three-run home run and striking out three times. The 29-year-old has gone 3-for-10 with two home runs and three walks over his four rehab games and appeared to be on the cusp of a return from the 10-day injured list, but his activation will be delayed while he consults with a specialist after possibly aggravating the oblique injury. Richie Palacios and Amed Rosario are expected to continue operating in a platoon at second base until Lowe is deemed ready to join the big club.

Torres went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 10-6 win over Tampa Bay.

Torres came into the contest batting .156 through 10 games in May and failed to reach base in his first three plate appearances Sunday. However, he came up big in the eighth inning, smashing a three-run shot to increase the Yankees' lead to 9-5. The long ball was just his second of the season, which is a pretty significant drop-off after he went deep 25 times in 158 contests last year.

Schuemann went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Mariners.

Schuemann sent one deep off Luis Castillo in the fifth for his second home run of the year. That's now consecutive games with an extra-base hit and an RBI for Schuemann, who's slashing .280/.400/.520 with five RBI, six runs and a 5:5 BB:K over his last eight games.

Toro went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Mariners.

Toro launched his fourth home run of the year to begin the sixth off Luis Castillo. It's a continuation of what's been a ridiculously hot stretch at the plate for Toro. Over his last 16 games, the 27-year-old is slashing .410/.455/.607 with two homers, nine RBI and 12 runs scored. He has led off in six straight games, all against righties, and has been more of a middle-of-the-order hitter against southpaws. For the season, Toro is now slashing .299/.351/.460 with 13 extra-base hits, 17 RBI, 20 runs and a 7:26 BB:K in 148 plate appearances.

Gimenez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 7-0 win over the White Sox.

Gimenez had gone 0-for-15 with one walk and a stolen base over his previous four games. He snapped the skid with a fourth-inning solo shot, his second homer of the year. The second baseman is at a .242/.307/.342 slash line with 20 RBI, 20 runs scored and five stolen bases through 38 contests. He's remained in the No. 2 spot in the order versus right-handers since Steven Kwan (hamstring) went on the injured list, but the Guardians haven't gotten much hitting from the trio of Estevan Florial, Brayan Rocchio or Tyler Freeman, who had all gotten looks at leadoff in that span. As such, Gimenez's chances to produce RBI will likely be down in the near term.

Gelof (oblique) played a full game at second base in Triple-A Las Vegas' win over Round Rock on Sunday, going 0-for-3 with an RBI sacrifice fly and a walk.

Gelof's ability to play a full game for the second straight day is certainly an encouraging sign for his progress from his oblique injury. The young infielder could be on the verge of activation, although the Athletics will undoubtedly evaluate him carefully Monday to see how he's responded to the back-to-back full workloads over the weekend.

Julien went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Julien led the game off with a single and added another base knock in the top of the eighth, stealing second base and scoring on an RBI double by Max Kepler in the frame. The stolen base was his fifth of the season and third over the last four games. Julien is now batting .224 with seven home runs, 15 RBI, 21 runs scored and five stolen bases over 125 at-bats in 40 games this year.
