  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Power surge continues

Lowe went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

Lowe popped his 11th home run of the season, 10 of which have come since the beginning of June. The start to his season was erased by an oblique injury, but he's maintained a .268 average with 10 home runs, 22 RBI and 21 runs scored across his last 35 games.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Pops ninth homer

Torres went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Mets.

The second baseman took Jose Quintana deep in the second inning, snapping a 15-game homerless drought. Torres is still struggling to find his power stroke -- Tuesday's long ball was his ninth of the year, after he slugged 49 homers over the last two seasons combined -- but his overall performance at the plate has improved somewhat in July, as he's slashing .255/.352/.340 through 55 plate appearances on the month.

  • Zack Gelof 3B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Goes yard in win

Gelof went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Astros.

Gelof went back-to-back with Seth Brown in the fourth for his only hit of the evening. It was just his second hit in five games since coming back from the All-Star break and he's struggled a lot over the last two weeks, slashing just .105/.190/.342 in 10 games since July 10. The 24-year-old has had a rough go of it this season overall, slashing just .198/.261/.372 with 13 homers, 35 RBI, 38 runs and a 23:113 BB:K in 328 plate appearances.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: X-rays negative, receiving MRI

X-rays on Mateo's left arm came back negative after he was removed from Tuesday's game versus Miami following a collision with Gunnar Henderson, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Manager Brandon Hyde said Mateo will need to undergo an MRI in order to have a good idea of what the 29-year-old is dealing with, but a clean X-ray is an encouraging sign. Until the results of Mateo's MRI come back, he should be viewed as day-to-day.

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Exits after collision

Mateo was removed from Tuesday's game against the Marlins due to a left arm injury, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Mateo collided with Gunnar Henderson after both players dove for a groundball in the third inning, causing Mateo's arm to bend awkwardly. Mateo was immediately taken out of the game and replaced by Ramon Urias, and the Orioles' training staff will presumably take him in for imaging to determine the extent of his injury.

  • Keston Hiura 2B | LAD

Angels' Keston Hiura: Pushed off 40-man roster

The Angels designated Hiura for assignment Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

The return of Luis Rengifo (wrist) from the IL on Tuesday will leave Hiura without a spot on the active roster, and because he has no more options remaining, he will also lose his spot on the 40-man. The 27-year-old has slashed an incredible .360/.429/.853 through 85 plate appearances with Triple-A Salt Lake, though he managed just a .296 OPS in 10 games with the Angels.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Not facing southpaw

Massey is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Arizona.

The lefty-hitting will dodge a matchup with lefty Jordan Montgomery on Tuesday. In Massey's place, Maikel Garcia will hold down the keystone.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Royals' Adam Frazier: Sitting against lefty

Frazier is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Arizona.

Frazier's defensive versatility has earned him a regular spot atop the Royals' batting order, but he'll take a seat Tuesday against a left-handed pitcher. The lefty-hitting Frazier is batting 5-for-33 with a homer and five runs during July.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Bops homer in win

Semien went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the White Sox.

Semien went deep in the third inning, his 14th home run of the season. The hit extended his on-base streak to 13 games, during which he's slashing .313/.431/.542 with three home runs, two doubles, seven RBI, 10 runs and 10 walks.

  • Zack Gelof 3B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Swipes bag in win

Gelof went 0-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 4-0 win over the Astros.

Gelof has gone 1-for-15 over four games since the All-Star break, but he was able to make something of his one time on the bases Monday. The second baseman started July well but is now hitting just .172 this month. He's up to 12 steals, 12 home runs, 34 RBI, 37 runs scored and a .197/.261/.364 slash line through 80 contests overall.
