Mendick is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners.

Mendick will retreat to the bench after he made his first start of the season in Sunday's 10-1 win over the Tigers. The White Sox elected to go with a right-handed-heavy lineup in that game to counter Tigers southpaw Tarik Skubal, and Mendick did his part by going 1-for-4 with an RBI double. Mendick could see one or two starts per week against lefties moving forward, but his at-bats likely won't come on a consistent enough basis to make him usable even in most AL-only leagues.

Hernandez will start in center field and bat leadoff in Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Hernandez has led off in each of the Red Sox's five games to date, but manager Alex Cora could adjust the lineup if the 30-year-old's ongoing slump continues much longer. He's hitless through 17 at-bats and has walked just twice, resulting in Hernandez carrying a .105 on-base average into Tuesday's contest.

Andrus went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, three total RBI and two total runs in Monday's 13-2 victory versus the Rays.

Andrus came into the contest with just two hits across 11 at-bats to start the campaign, but he padded his season stat line considerably with the three-hit performance Monday. The veteran infielder contributed one of four Oakland long balls in the contest, belting a three-run shot to left field in the second inning to stake the A's to an early eight-run lead. Andrus hadn't shown much power in recent seasons, hitting just six homers over 600 at-bats between 2020 and 2021.

Miller went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored in Monday's 10-7 win over the Royals.

Miller doubled and scored in both the fourth and eighth innings. It was his second three-hit effort after going 3-for-6 with four RBI on Sunday. The 25-year-old is still riding the momentum from a hot spring where he hit .333 with three long balls. It took Miller 49 at-bats last season to pick up his sixth hit.

Merrifield went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 10-7 loss to the Guardians.

Merrifield singled and swiped second in the first inning before collecting an RBI on a fourth-inning groundout. The speedy veteran was in a 1-for-12 slump to begin the season before Monday's multi-hit effort. He hasn't recorded a strikeout since punching out twice on Opening Day.

Semien batted leadoff and went 1-for-5 in Monday's 6-4 extra-inning loss to the Rockies.

Semien was back in the leadoff spot for a second straight game -- both against left-handers -- after hitting out of the two-hole against righties the first two contests. It's been slow start with his new team; Semien is batting .111 (2-for-18) with a walk and four strikeouts through four games.

Haggerty (shoulder) has appeared in four games this season for Triple-A Tacoma, going 1-for-14 with a walk and six strikeouts.

Haggerty was outrighted off the Mariners' 40-man roster in October, after a right shoulder injury had sidelined him from late May onward. The 27-year-old utility man is healthy again, but the Mariners view him as organizational depth at this sage of his career and likely aren't eager to elevate him to the big club.

Biggio isn't starting Monday's game against the Yankees.

After starting in each of the Blue Jays' first two games of the regular season, Biggio will be out of the lineup for a second straight matchup. Santiago Espinal will take over at the keystone and bat ninth.

Frazier went 2-for-5 with an RBI single and a run in a loss to the Twins on Sunday.

Frazier followed up his first hit of the season Saturday -- an RBI double that tied the game in the ninth inning -- with more timely hitting early in Sunday's loss. Frazier's third-inning single brought home J.P. Crawford for the Mariners' first run of the game, and a subsequent single gave the offseason acquisition his first multi-hit effort with Seattle.

Mayfield went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to Houston on Sunday.

Mayfield drove a Jose Urquidy pitch over the wall in center field in the second inning to provide the Angels' only run of the contest. The long ball was Mayfield's third straight hit to begin the campaign, though he went 0-for-3 in his remaining plate appearances. The 31-year-old was somewhat surprisingly plugged into the cleanup spot Sunday despite entering the contest with only 12 homers over 401 career big-league at-bats.
