Chavis started the previous three games and went 3-for-10 with one homer and a stolen base. Yairo Munoz receives the start in left field for the series opener in Miami.

Torres isn't in Tuesday's lineup due to a quadriceps issue, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.
Torres isn't in the lineup for a second consecutive game, and manager Aaron Boone said that Torres is being held out as a precaution. He served as a pinch hitter Sunday and will be available to do so once again Tuesday, but Boone said that he doesn't want to risk a more serious injury by starting him.

Astros' Jose Altuve: Activated, starting Tuesday
Altuve (knee) was activated from the 10-day injured list and is starting Tuesday against the Rangers, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.
Altuve spent just over 10 days sidelined with a right knee sprain, but he'll be available for Houston going forward. The 30-year-old hit in the batting cage Saturday and should now resume his role as the Astros' primary second baseman. He'll bat second in Tuesday's lineup while playing second base against the Rangers.

Torres isn't in the lineup Tuesday against the Blue Jays.
Torres is currently riding a five-game hitting streak, but he'll retreat to the bench for a second consecutive game. Tyler Wade will start at shortstop in his absence.

Athletics' Marcus Semien: Swats seventh homer
Semien went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run and four RBI during a 6-5 loss to the Mariners in the first game of Monday's doubleheader.
His three-run shot off Marco Gonzales in the fourth inning gave the A's a 5-0 lead, but Jesus Luzardo and Joakim Soria combined to squander it. Semien is hitting .318 (7-for-22) over his last six games including the nightcap, but on the year he still carries a sluggish .227/.300/.395 slash line with seven homers, four steals, 21 RBI and 24 runs through 42 contests.

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Comes through as pinch hitter
Torres slugged a two-run double as a pinch hitter in Saturday's win over Baltimore.
Torres was slated for a day off but was called upon to pinch hit in the bottom of the eighth inning. He came through with a clutch double to plate two runs and break a 1-1 tie. The hit marked Torres' fifth straight game with a base knock, and he has gone 7-for-14 with four extra-base hits and seven RBI over that span.

Royals' Whit Merrifield: Reaches base four times
Merrifield went 2-for-3 with two walks, two RBI and one run scored Sunday against the Pirates.
Merrifield had a strong day atop the Royals order, reaching base in all but one plate appearance. He's now delivered five multi-hit performances in his last six starts, smacking two homers, driving in seven and scoring seven runs in the process. Overall, he's had a strong campaign, hitting .273/.327/.464 across 211 plate appearances.

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Benched in second straight
Rengifo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
With David Fletcher (ankle) returning from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Rengifo will head to the bench for a second straight game. He'll remain the Angels' top reserve in the middle infield, but he won't be in store for regular action over the final two weeks of the regular season unless Fletcher or Andrelton Simmons miss time.

Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: First career start at 3B
Biggio is getting his first big-league start at third base while leading off Sunday against the Mets.
He has played all three outfield spots this season in addition to second base and now third base. Travis Shaw is taking a seat in this one, and it's possible Biggio will get some more starts at third with Jonathan Villar starting at second base going forward.
