Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez: Trio of hits, RBI in easy win

Gimenez went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a walk in Friday's 9-1 win over the Red Sox.

Gimenez has struggled for the most part since coming off the injured list with a quadriceps injury, hitting .212 with one home run, two doubles, seven RBI and five runs scored over his last 66 at-bats. Despite that dry spell, Gimenez has remained Toronto's primary second baseman.

Chisholm has gone long in back-to-back games and is up to 12 home runs on the season. He had a slow start to the season but has been hot at the plate as of late. Athletics' Luis Urias: Idle Friday

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Homers in big win

Torres went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and two total runs scored in Thursday's 8-0 win over the Athletics.

Torres provided a spark from the leadoff spot, smashing his eighth home run of the season in the seventh inning with a runner on. It was the infielder's first long ball since he went deep twice back on June 13, but he's continued to rake even without leaving the yard, as he's now batting .333 with seven RBI and eight runs scored in 11 games since that multi-homer effort. Torres is thriving near the top of a strong Detroit lineup in his first season with the Tigers and has an .816 OPS through 69 contests.

The productive stretch has pushed Chisholm's OPS to .804 on the campaign, putting him on pace for the second-highest mark of his career.

With Keith and Carpenter sitting, the Tigers will use Jahmai Jones at designated hitter, Spencer Torkelson at first base and Zach McKinstry at third base.

  • Red Sox's Kristian Campbell: Makes debut at first base

Campbell started at first base and went 0-for-4 for Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday.

Campbell struck out four times but handled the defensive chores without an issue. It was his third game with the WooSox since the Red Sox sent him down. • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Looks set to extend rehab

Gelof (ribs) is expected to continue his rehab assignment at Triple-A Las Vegas for at least another week, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Gelof has yet to make his 2025 debut for the Athletics after undergoing surgery March 24 to repair a fractured hamate bone in his right wrist. He initially began a rehab assignment in late April, but he appeared in just three games before being shut down after suffering a stress reaction in his ribs. The second baseman was cleared to resume full baseball activities a few weeks later, and he began a fresh rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on June 17. Through his first six games, Gelof has gone 4-for-16 with two doubles, two stolen bases, eight walks, eight runs and one RBI. He looks set to remain with Las Vegas through the early part of next week before potentially returning from the 60-day injured list when the Athletics begin a nine-game homestand July 4.
