  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Idle against southpaw

Garcia is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Atlanta, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

The left-handed-hitting Garcia will hit the bench for the third game in a row, with the Nationals having faced two lefties and one righty during that stretch. Paul DeJong will get the nod at second base Monday in Garcia's stead.

  • Giants' Christian Koss: Doubles in victory

Koss started at second and went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Dodgers.

Koss singled in the eighth inning before coming around to score the game-tying run. He also added a double in the ninth, marking his second multi-hit performance over nine appearances this month. Overall, he's slashing .267/.305/.376 with 22 RBI, 22 runs scored, nine doubles, three long balls and three stolen bases across 180 plate appearances in 72 games this season.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Swipes two bags Sunday

Edwards went 1-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases in Sunday's win over the Rangers.

The infielder nearly manufactured a run single-handedly in the fourth inning, swiping second and third after a leadoff single before coming home on Otto Lopez's one-out double. Surprisingly, the steals were Edwards' first in September, as he'd gone 15 straight games without even attempting one. On the month, he's slashing a tepid .239/.300/.304 with six runs, six RBI and a homer as his lone extra-base hit.

  • Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI

Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Expected to be activated Tuesday

Sosa (groin) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Tuesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Sidelined since mid-September with a right groin strain, Sosa went through intense workouts over the weekend and came out of it well. He'll return to the active roster for the final week of the regular season and might be used at shortstop until Trea Turner (hamstring) is back this weekend.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

    Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Idle Sunday

Edman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Edman will hit the bench for the second time in six games, paving the way for Miguel Rojas to pick up a start at the keystone. Since returning from the injured list Sept. 10, Edman has split time between second base and center field and has gone 6-for-28 (.214 average) with one home run, one walk, four RBI and five runs in seven games.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Earning more work at 2B

Rojas will start at second base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Giants.

Rojas will occupy the keystone for the fourth time in five games and has made a case for serving as the Dodgers' primary option at the position over Tommy Edman, who has posted a meager .555 OPS since returning from the injured list Sept. 10. During that same stretch, Rojas is slashing .333/.400/.519 with three extra-base hits, three walks and two stolen bases in nine games.

  • Giants' Casey Schmitt: Taking seat Sunday

Schmitt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

After going 0-for-9 with a 3:3 BB:K while starting in each of the last three games, Schmitt will take a seat for the series finale in Los Angeles. Christian Koss will fill in at second base for Schmitt.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: On bench against LHP

Turang is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

The left-handed-hitting Turang will take a seat Sunday against southpaw Matthew Liberatore. The second baseman had been part of the starting nine in each of the Brewers' last 14 games and went 14-for-56 (.250 average) with eight runs scored and seven RBI during that stretch.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: On bench again

Garcia is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

With southpaw Sean Manaea opening the game for the Mets, the left-handed-hitting Garcia will retreat to the bench. Paul DeJong will fill in for Garcia at second base.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Idle Sunday

Donovan is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Milwaukee.

Donovan will get the day off Sunday, opening up a start at second base for Jose Fermin. Since being reinstated from the injured list Sept. 12, Donovan is batting .321 with one home run, five runs and three RBI.
